Ah! It’s the third and final Walt Disney World post.
We were having the best time and weren’t ready to leave…but, I think that’s the sign of a great trip, right?
Today, I’m recapping our third and final day there, and Erika is too! Don’t forget to click on over to her blog because even though we were doing the same thing, we have different pics and share different experiences.
Don’t forget this is also happening right now…
…if you book a trip with us in the month of May (to travel any time in 2019/2020), you will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $500 Visa Gift Card. Email us today for more information! mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com
Today, is PART THREE, but don’t forget to click back if you missed PART ONE (when we told the kids the big surprise that they were going to WDW and our day at Animal Kingdom) and PART TWO (our day at Magic Kingdom!).
Here we go with DAY THREE…
Another beautiful morning at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We really had the loveliest weather the whole time we were there. It makes me want to move to Florida 😉 .
On this particular morning, we wanted to hurry over to Hollywood Studios before it even opened, so we grabbed a quick bite at our hotel…
…yesssss! Coffee and a croissant breakfast sandwich? Yes, please!
These two were up early but pumped about their third and final day. Several times on this trip, one of them would say “I can’t believe we’re at Disney World!”. 🙂
After breakfast, we walked down to catch the bus!
The last day is always a little bittersweet 🙂 .
Psssst: I love both my shorts and my tank!
We arrived at Hollywood Studios early so that we could run inside and head straight for…
…Slinky Dog!
This rollercoaster is new at Hollywood Studios, and because we weren’t able to get Fast Passes for it, we stood in line…and it was so worth it!! We waited about an hour, but the ride was so much fun that I would have done it again! We all loved it!
Just two girls riding rollercoasters on a Thursday morning 🙂 .
After Slinky Dog, we saw The Little Mermaid. It always startles me when it “rains” on you inside.
We had lunch reservations at The Brown Derby that day!
The food and the service was amazing! Our waiter was Haitian and could not have been more charming. I loved him!
Ashby was having no fun whatsoever.
Erika and I split their famous cobb salad as one entree and the cheeseburger and fries as the other. It was the perfect combination!
After lunch, we had a Fast Pass for…
…the Tower of Terror! Hahaha! They look scared, right?!
Those two! They both rode it last year when we went on our Disney Land & Sea Vacation, so they knew what to expect.
Hahaha! Do you see us? Holding on for dear life and screaming!
Whew!
After the Tower of Terror, it was time for us to head on over to my favorite park…
…EPCOT!
I love to walk around the “countries” at Epcot. It just makes me happy!
At one point, I said to them that I just could not take another pic of them in front of a character shrub. I seriously think I have like 15 pictures of them in front of bushes shaped into people/characters. Hahaha!
We didn’t have a Fast Pass, but we waited in line for the Frozen ride in Norway. We loved it last year, and loved it again this year too!
Ashby wanted a pic in front of China 🙂 .
We stopped for gelato in Italy!
I think we’re in the USA here!
We skipped on over to Soarin’ for our final Fast Pass of the trip! I loved this one so much!! I will say though that out of all the rides on our trip, this one made me feel motion sickness. I loved it…but I did feel like I was “soaring”. It’s a pretty epic adventure though that shouldn’t be missed…I just might need Dramamine next time 😉 .
For dinner, we had reservations for dinner at…
…Rose and Crown!
We had a perfect table right on the patio where we could see the water!
Good views and good food.
Fish and Chips make us happy 🙂
Finishing off the trip in Epcot was magical.
Here they are marching out…happy and with Goofy ears on 😉 .
We love you Walt Disney World!
The next morning, we flew home and re-entered the real world. This is a trip I will remember for the rest of my life. I am so happy that I got to do this with my sweet Ashby!
Don’t forget, you can catch PART ONE and PART TWO as well!
If your family is planning on taking a Walt Disney World vacation this year or next, we would love to connect with you. Our services here are completely free, and we have the same rates, discounts, promos, access to rooms and more as you would get calling their 1-800 number or going online. We love taking care of our clients and prove that day after day. Each vacation is custom for each family, and we are always humbled and grateful that you allow us to be a part of your Disney vacation. If you’re thinking about a trip outside of Walt Disney World, we also offer our services anywhere outside of the Continental US (so we do not offer our services to places like NYC, Boston, etc) to places like Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, cruises and so much more. We would love to chat with you about those destinations too!
I hope you all had a great weekend! I will see you back here TOMORROW!

Seriously had the BEST time!! Thankful for a friend who’s always down for an adventure!! XO
Kathleen says
Do you book for Universal as well?
Mix and Match Mama says
We do not!
Lindsay T. says
I loved all your posts!! How early did you get to Hollywood Studios to ride Slinky Dog? Was it already a madhouse full of people before the park opened?
Mix and Match Mama says
There was! We got there maybe 30 minutes before it opened and basically ran to Slinky Dog with about 150 other people.
Sarah L. says
Loved all your trip recaps and it looks like you all had a wonderful time! What age do you think is best for Disney World versus a Disney Cruise? My kiddos will be 3 1/2 and 2 next summer and I’d love to take them but my husband doesn’t think they will get much out of it.
Mix and Match Mama says
I think they’re two really different types of trips, so it’s hard to say for sure. If you want to take advantage of the free kids club on DCL, they both need to be three.
Leah says
We CAN’T WAIT to go on our Disney trip this week that you guys have planned for us! Your Disney posts have been getting our little girls pumped for a week of family fun!
Lia says
Elizabeth Bennet stayed at the Rose and Crown in Lambton! 🙂 #prideandprejudice #janeite
Narci says
What a FUN recap! It looks like you guys had an absolute blast!!
Amanda says
These posts would have been more helpful if they contained more details about the rides/areas of the park. Like why is tower of terror scary? More details about what there is in Toy Story Land. What is the Deluxe meal plan? Is slinky Dog a roller coaster type ride or more one where you just float thru a story?
Mix and Match Mama says
Feel free to email me if you have questions and are considering a Disney vacation! Almost all of the information we provide is over the phone as we want to make sure we’re as thorough as possible and meeting specific needs of specific families (as everyone is looking for something a little different).
Annette says
Hi Shay~do recommend sitting at any particular spot for the Illumination/Laser show at Epcot?
Mix and Match Mama says
We didn’t stay for it this time because the kiddos wanted to visit their big souvenir shop and get Bowen a goofy hat instead. But that being said, I think anywhere along the water is great for viewing.
Sheaffer Sims says
I’m so happy y’all got to take this trip! Sweet Ashby deserved this so much, and I love that her bestie got to be there with her!!!
Chelsey Boren says
We ate at The Hollywood Brown Derby for the first time on our last trip and it was our favorite!! We all drive abut that Cobb Salad!!
Claire says
Love these recaps!! We just returned from an amazing offsite Disney trip and I already want to plan another one, maybe on property this time! Did you feel like the deluxe meal plan was worth it, or did you end up with leftover credits?
Mix and Match Mama says
We used every single one of our credits! I totally think it was worth it!
Priscilla says
You mentioned there are six of you who work at your travel agency. Who are the others?
Mix and Match Mama says
Erika, Jane, Clare, Tina and Meagan 🙂
Jessica Mayhew says
How did you have fast passes at Hollywood and Epcot on the same day?
Mix and Match Mama says
We used all three Fast Passes at Hollywood Studios that morning and then once we used all three, we moved on and grabbed another one from Epcot!
Sharon says
If Soarin gave you motion sickness, do not, I repeat DO NOT go on Mission Space. We did Mission Space Green (the lighter one) and did fine so tried Orange…OH NO….bad idea. I don’t get motion sickness and I was disoriented, seeing spots and had to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth just to get through it.
Also, did you go to Canada? The movie which is hosted by Martin Short is so good and gives a very good insight and beautiful scenery of our amazing country.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve seen that movie!! Yes, yes, yes!! You’re exactly right! It is so well done!
Lindsay says
I had the same experience. It pretty much ruined Epcot for me ?
Elspeth Mizner says
Looks SO much fun! Did you wish you spent more time at the resort? It looked beautiful!! Love reading your travel posts!

Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Totally! The next time we go, we are going to stay there, stay longer and be by the pool! This was a little recon trip, so there wasn’t much relaxation built in. I want Andrew to go back next time and soak that up with me!
Kathy L says
My granddaughters will be 3 & 5 years old in 2020. Do you think a Disney cruise or Disney World trip would be better suited to their ages? I’d love to do the land & sea when they’re older, but think they are a little young to do a longer trip at this stage. BTW…I made the BBQ chicken & pineapple tacos and the strawberry margarita ice cream pie yesterday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and they were both a HUGE hit! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I get this question all the time, and honestly, they’re two very different trips, but both suitable for those ages. We should chat, so that we can figure out which destination makes more sense for your family at this time. Please email me! mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com

I have loved reading all about this trip! My husband and I are planning a surprise Disney vacation for our girls in December (they won’t find out til Christmas day and we leave two days later… we are sooo excited). I struggle with plantar fasciitis in one foot. What is the best shoe that you would recommend for walking all those miles around Disney?? I know you have sworn by your sketcher go walks and I’ve read that they are good for people with foot issues. Wasn’t sure if you had any other recommendations. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Is there a good sneaker/tennis shoe that you wear? If so, I would wear that there. I wore my New Balances two days and my Go Walks one…both were really comfy and didn’t let me down!
janie reinert says
Loved all the pictures ! Ashby & Bowen’s friendship is too cute !
Kasey Brown says
Do you help with trips to Disney Land too or just Disney World?
Mix and Match Mama says
Right now, just Disney World.
Kayla A Bruce says
Epcot is my all time Disney fave, too!! What a fun little trip!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
What an amazing trip for Ashby & Bowen!! I’m sure they will remember it for a long time too! I can’t wait to get back to Epcot one day, I only saw it once the first time I went to Disney and I think I’d had a bigger appreciation for it now as an adult.
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Serena Welch says
Hey Shay! My husband and I are considering taking a Mediterranean cruise, is that something you can help with?
Mix and Match Mama says
Absolutely!! We book them all the time! We’d love to help! Please email me 🙂 .
Sarah says
Loved the recap, Shay! Ashby’s poses in the pics were cracking me up! ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Right?! She was bringing the poses this trip!! Hahaha!
Kristin O. says
My husband & I are going on an adults-only trip in about a month (that y’all are helping us plan). We like rides, we’ve got our fast passes lined up, and meal reservations made. After reading about Slinky Dog, I’m not sure it’s worth us racing to get in line & wait ONLY because it’s just us and not our kids too. I know it’s very new & novel, but also seems very kiddy and “low key”. Any thoughts?
Mix and Match Mama says
Okay, I loved it! It’s not a “big” rollercoaster like some of the others, but I thought it was nice and long (some are really short) and the whole area where it’s set is gorgeous, so even if you don’t ride it, go check it out!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
I was so surprised by how much I loved Epcot!! It was one of my favorite days. We rode Soarin’ 3 times that day! That Inspired Chick
Johannah says
I am so glad that you all had fun! And it was SO nice meeting you at the Magic Kingdom while we waited in line for the tea cups!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I still want to move to Maine and live by you 🙂 .
Juliana Grace says
Y’all sure were busy! I live right by Disney World and can truly say, it never gets old. (: Glad y’all had so much fun!

You’re so lucky!!

We are planning a surprise Disneyworld trip for my daughter’s golden birthday in February (she’ll be 7). While we would love to stay at a Disney resort, I just don’t think it’s going to be in our budget. Do you book off-site hotels as well or do your services only cover on-site properties? The amount of options is a bit overwhelming!
Mix and Match Mama says
What a fun birthday!! We only book Walt Disney World vacations that include a resort stay.
Dana says
I get super motion sick on a lot of rides and Soarin’ is one of my very favorite rides, so my trick for Soarin’ is to close my eyes during “takeoff” and while flying through the clouds. I have someone with me tell me as soon as we are at the first scene and I open my eyes. I have never gotten motion sick again since I started doing that.
Mix and Match Mama says
Great tip!!!!
Mary says
I love reading these fun posts! Thanks for sharing! We’re only 2 hours from Disney but haven’t stayed at the Polynesian as a family yet…(our boys always vote to stay in the cabins at Fort Wilderness, so fun!) but will have to branch out now! ?
Dena says
Summer of 2021 I’m thinking about a trip, possibly Disney because we have a lot of big things happening/to celebrate that year. I do not do roller coasters, I get so motion sick. Would I still have fun even if I don’t want to ride? I’ve never been before and I’m guessing there are plenty of other fun things to do!! Thanks 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
There are SO MANY fun things to do!! I think you would still have the best time!
Nicole DiDonato says
I highly recommend giving the rides a chance. There’s so many that aren’t roller coasters. For me it’s not the same without the rides.
amlakar says
This message is off the topic of Disney but thought I would share- Just finished reading an excellent book called, I Will Carry You, by Angie Smith. Her husband sings with Selah. She writes about her personal experience carrying her fourth baby girl to term knowing her sweet girl would die due to medical complications. It is a wonderful memoir of loss and how to turn to your faith in times of grief and sorrow. I know you have discussed this issue many times on your blog and just felt it on my heart to pass the title along in hopes that it may benefit one of your followers.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!!!!! She has such an amazing testimony!!
Jenna Campbell says
I would love to hear how you got into being a travel agent!! It’s something I’ve always been interested in doing but I have no idea how to get started! Love following your trips so much!
Tiffanie Yu says
How was your experience with the Magic Bands?
Mix and Match Mama says
Perfect! It makes it so nice not to have to carry cards or cash.
Jeanie Herkomer says
It looks like so much fun! I got a kick out of Ashby picture-posing like Kensington. 🙂
Nicole DiDonato says
We already booked our trip for this year but I will reach out to you for our next one! We want to do a Land & Sea trip after this year!
Rose and Crown is one of our favorites at Epcot! Close behind San Angel Inn in Mexico.
Vanessa says
I know this wasn’t the right trip for it, but have you ever had any luck getting into Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto?
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t personally tried. Jane here in our office makes all of the dining reservations, so I”m not sure if she’s selected that for anyone or not.
