Happy Monday, friends!
I hope you had the very best weekend!
The travel whiplash continues a little bit longer (I warned you!) because on Saturday morning, Ashby, Mades and I headed back to Nantucket 🙂 .
And we are oh so happy to be bACK.
This time, I decided to bring you along with me. Today, I have a little {TRAVEL} SATURDAY IN THE LIFE.
Grab your Monday morning coffee and settle in as we go from McKinney to Nantucket on Saturday morning…

…the day started out with my alarm going off at 3:00 AM. I tell myself that this is 4:00 AM EST, so that’s not “too” bad. (The lies I tell myself…)
I got up and immediately…

…made myself a cup of coffee. It was 3:00 AM!
Next up…

…I sat down to do my quiet time.
After that (around 3:40 AM)…

…I added my Bible and Bible Recap to my carry on roller and zipped it up.
Side note, guess what?
I have apparently talked about this luggage so much that I’ve gotten their attention, and they sent me a promo code to share with you guys! Use code SHULL15 to save 15% off your first order with Beis!
I mentioned this the other day, but when I fly back and forth to Nantucket, I just wash and rewear the same outfit on repeat…

…so for the 400th time this month, I put on this dress for my flight and brought my sweatshirt with me for an extra layer.
I woke up the girls at 4:00, and we were out the door by 4:50 with…

…Mr. Charles.

Good morning, DFW!
TSA, check.
Grab Starbucks, check.
Walk to the gate, check.

Charlie wondering where his Starbucks is, check. 😉
Before we knew it…

…it was time to board.
Perhaps one of my very very favorite views in life is…

…sitting on a plane about to take off early in the morning.
A quick 3.5 hours later and…

…we were in Boston.

Woohoo! We LOVE Boston!
We headed from our American Airlines gate over to…

…the Cape Air gate.
We checked in to Cape Air…this is where you give them your body weight and they weigh every item you have (including your purse) to determine where you sit. I was telling the little girls about the first time Andrew and I flew Cape Air…

…which was ten years ago. This is an actual photo from that day. I’m still not sure what was up with the plane’s artwork, ha, but goodness, WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY. On that day, we swore we would never fly it again and fast forward ten years, and I’ve flown it now four times in the last three weeks.
You guys, I even read a book the last two times. WHO AM I?!
My grandmother has told me for years and years and years and years that the only way she got over her motion sickness was to push through and continue to do it. She used to be like me and not be able to read in the car, but she said she just decided one day to read until she was sick as many times as she could until it didn’t make her sick any more. She said after about a year, she could read novels in the car without any issues. I thought she was insane. I now kind of see what she’s talking about.
After we checked in to Cape Air, we had time…

…so we popped across the way to grab lunch…

…and then we waited for our flight.

Love this girl.

He’s such a good little airport traveler 😉 .

Around 2:45, we boarded our Cape Air flight for the hour-ish flight from Boston to Nantucket.
This time, I was on the very back row.

Off we go! See Logan Airport below us?
Not going to lie…this flight was HOT. I was happy to get off the plane because it was really, really hot inside.
About an hour later…

…we arrived 🙂 .

We walked outside and grabbed a cab.

Sweet Charlie.
Before we knew it…

…we were home, changed, and Charlie and I were off for a walk. Ashby and Mades couldn’t get their stuff down fast enough and were off to see friends. After being on two planes and at the airport all day, it was SO NICE to be outside walking.

Everything is oh so beautiful.
Charlie and I sat on the front porch and went through mail and packages from the week…

…I don’t just tell you ladies about Colleen Rothschild sales, I take advantage of them myself. I had stocked up on some things. Opening packages that contain beauty products is my very favorite.
After that…

…I sat on my porch and read a bit until the girls came home.
They arrived home, we freshened up and by 6:30…

…we were dressed and ready to go into town. My SLEEVELESS LINEN DRESS (with pockets!) is 50% off and comes in other colors.

We drove into town, parked and the first people we ran into were our Nantucket besties. I love a small town 🙂 .
After we chatted, the three of us…

…walked down to the marina to have dinner at…

…Slip 14.

This restaurant is ALWAYS delicious.

The weather was SPECTACULAR, the evening was perfect, the food delish…I was super sad the other three weren’t there to enjoy it too.

A gorgeous summer Saturday night on Nantucket…

…and that was a {travel} day in the life 🙂 .
Alrighty, don’t forget, right now, Beis has been oh so kind and are offering my readers 15% off your first purchase with code SHULL15. I have an entire post on this luggage and why we love it.
I also have an entire post on TRAVELING WITH DOGS should you be curious about that too.
Happy happy Monday, friends!
I’ll see you back here tomorrow. xx

Those pictures of Charlie are so adorable!!! Thanks for sharing your journey. I am looking forward to reading about your upcoming summer activities and adventures.
Rita Farlen says
Is the travel dress the linen dress that was linked?
Mix and Match Mama says
No, that’s a dress I bought last year from Abercrombie. It’s no longer available.
Lori Hamilton says
Good morning! Could you share a link for those cute platform sandals? Thank you😊
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they so cute? They’re from a shop here on Nantucket called Clorinda Antinori.
Katrina Goodman says
Aw so fun!!! My 14 year old daughter and I will be there mid July for two nights & I can’t wait!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope I bump into you!
Hope says
Do the girls have any issues with motion sickness especially on a small plane?Does Cape Air allow you to take your animal out of the carrier or do you have to place your animal and the carrier in your lap?
Mix and Match Mama says
I am the only one in my family that suffers with motion sickness (with Andrew #2). None of my kiddos suffer at all. I don’t understand? On Cape Air, your pet stays in the carrier on the floorboard of the plane. They put you in a seat next to the pup (which is why I was in the very back this time).
Erika says
I never started getting motion sick until I was like 20, I am 26 now and it has only gotten worse. But has a kid I could ride rollercoasters, boats never made sick, I never thought it would get to me but here are lol!
Amanda Wilson says
I love your summer posts!! We don’t start summer break until the end of June so it just feeds the excitement and anticipation of what’s coming!! Love all your content but the Nantucket is my fave! It looks so magical there.
Kristen says
I would have such anxiety flying with a dog.. are you ever nervous they will go to bathroom in aiport or on the plane? Are they barking at all during flight or just saying quiet, lol? I guess there are designated spots for dogs when flying right? Sorry, it just gives me anxiety!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Read my Traveling with Dogs post (linked at the end of today’s post!). Three out of four of my dogs have flown multiple times, and I have never had any issues. They sleep on the flights, they don’t bark, and there are potty areas inside airports. I think “all the things” going on relax them and the sound of the planes lull them to sleep.
K.K. says
Love it!! By the way, your consistency with doing your bible study every morning – even on the super early ones – is the encouragement and inspiration I needed this morning. I love doing it, but there are days where I bypass it for something else, and I always regret it.
Mix and Match Mama says
My day just doesn’t feel right if I don’t start it in the Word.
Allyson says
Hi!! We just flew home from Nantucket yesterday after the most glorious week! Always planning the next trip bACK! Have the best summer!!
Mix and Match Mama says
You were in town for some GORGEOUS (and warm!) weather.
Sonya Derczo says
I always wondered about the pottying portion of traveling with dogs. Is there an area inside the airport for that or a way to go outside with them? The idea stresses me out so we’ve always left our dog with a sitter when we travel.
Mix and Match Mama says
There are designated potty areas inside airports! I have tips on my Traveling with Dogs post!
Jill says
Heading to Nantucket for three nights at the end of the month for the first time with my adult daughter. Any recommendations for must-see or must-do activities for first timers?
Mix and Match Mama says
A First Timer’s Guide is coming up, but in the meantime, feel free to email me any questions! I’m happy to give you tips and ideas! mixandmatchmama@yahoo.com
Kim McGuire says
I just bought my daughter the BEIS luggage as a graduation gift! I missed your coupon! She loves her luggage though!
Jeanine says
Thank you for sharing a packed travel day! It’s fascinating to see you seamlessly navigate what is to most a hectic journey! Looking forward to seeing all-the-things Nantucket the rest of the summer. When are Andrew and the bigs joining you? I’d imagine with sports and teenage social lives happening it’s harder to get them on island.
Have a blessed day.
Mix and Match Mama says
Soon, soon, soon we will all be here to stay put the remainder of the summer 🙂 .
Kristy says
Do you always have a reservation for your dinners out?
Your kindle case is so cute!
I love to seen all what’s in my bag posts, especially purses. What do you like to carry when traveling and walking a lot in cities?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes, almost always. It’s hard to find a place to eat here if you don’t. I can do a post on this idea too!
Anne says
Any idea what the shrub is with the purple flowers?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have no idea. It’s certainly pretty though! (I’m bad with identifying plants…)
Jeanne says
It looks like a Rhododendron but I’m not 100% sure.
Natasha says
I’m a plant nerd and it looks like it’s a rhododendron.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve very impressed 🙂
Brianne Cole says
Love Day in the Life posts.. especially when they are traveling!
Could you post the link to your cell phone case please!? It has summer vibes!
Mix and Match Mama says
Absolutely! It’s here: https://amzn.to/4xwwnKI
Brianne Cole says
Thank you!
Karen in Virginia says
Hi Shay,
How are you and your girls not exhausted after getting up so early, getting everybody to the airport, taking two flights and then a cab ride.
And you were able to do this four times in 3 weeks? I have to give you props. All of it sounds so exhausting to me. But maybe it’s just me. LOL. I would give anything to be able to do this!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well getting up at 3:00 certainly isn’t ideal, but the end result is worth it. They both napped on the plane. I always get an extra pep in my step when I travel. I get that from my dad 🙂 .
Janet says
Do you have a link for your Kindle cover? So cute!
Mix and Match Mama says
Isn’t it cute? I bought it here: https://penandpillar.com/products/umbrellas-kindle-case?srsltid=AfmBOopQu6T3__4bJqZG09JQH_TAqsaL3iyteM6tox9LpRfPUGDz1cuI

Sheaffer says
You make it look so easy!!!! Now, imagine me having to navigate this day by myself. Hahahahahahahahahaha!
Mix and Match Mama says
I mean, I can’t. Bahahahahaahaha!
Tasha says
Hi Shay! Thanks for sharing. A little tip for anyone who gets carsick looking at their phone in the car, the iphone has a setting for motion sickness! Go to settings -> accessibility -> motion -> vehicle motion cues-> on. It puts dots on your screen that move with the motion of your car and decrease motion sickness. I was skeptical but it has worked for me!
Mix and Match Mama says
WHAT?! Oh my word, my world has been rocked.
Natasha says
My daughter has this on her phone and says it has helped so much!
