Yankee Doodle.


Well, if you missed Instagram last night, Smith finally got his Christmas present…

…Yankee Doodle 🙂 .

(I clearly did not name her.)

She’s a 2 month old chocolate labradoodle, and we are smitten.

 

I’m sure we’ll have lots of pics and so much to say about this sweet new addition, but for now, I’m going to head off to work for the day.

(Yeah right, I’m going to hold the puppy all day and not get anything done.)

    Also, random question but I’ve always wondered what y’all do with your sweet dogs when you travel. Do you board them or get a dog sitter? Soak up those sweet puppy snuggles today! ?

      They stay with a really sweet family (that has a dog too!) here in town. She’s a mini labradoodle!

    Beware, this dog will get large. She will be a CHEWER !! She will need TONS of walks and play time a t dog parks. She will NOT disappoint. Sweet disposition and love of all people and other dogs. You will wonder why you didn’t get her sooner! YAY !!

    We got a Labradoodle about 6 months ago and he has been the BEST addition to our house! They are so smart and very easy to train and not to mention the BEST cuddlers! Welcome home Yankee!

    Awe, that is so awesome. I have a medium (36 pounds) chocolate Australian Labradoodle named Gus. They are great dogs, super smart and loyal and cuddly. I can’t wait to watch along as she and Smith become best of buddies! Congratulations to Smith!!

        Will Yankee sleep in Smith’s room? We have 2 dogs and are seriously considering one for our son – can u do a post on this? I recall Frenchie being in Ks room, how did/ does that work out? How much do you expect the kids to do vs you and Andrew? Just curious as we have apparently also been bitten by the “get another dog bug” Also did you research how having different breeds would get along? That’s what we are considering also

          When she’s older and doesn’t have to potty during the night, she’ll sleep in his room. Frenchie always sleeps with Kensington (sometimes Ashby) wherever she is sleeping that night (hardly ever her actual room). And yes! We did research the breeds and from what we’ve read/heard, they should be very compatible.

    Yankee is an adorable puppy! Smith looks very happy to finally receive his Christmas present, as did all the other kiddos on your Instagram stories. 🙂 We have a mini goldendoodle named Whiskey who is 14 months old, and life with a dog is more fun! Your life with four kids and now three dogs, and all the activities and travel definitely isn’t lacking in fun or entertainment I’m sure!

    So sweet. Love puppies, dogs, etc. We’ve had our share of unusual names, but somehow it doesn’t matter, because they snuggle their way right into your heart immediately. We have an Aussiedoodle and adore him.

    Ah, Congratulations! We can’t imagine life without our Labradoodle, Malibu. We call her a mini – Mini Labradoodle because she was supposed to be 25-30 lbs., but she’s topped out at 21 lbs. Such a perfect size. (Bigger than a lap dog, but she’s not convinced of that!) They are the sweetest, friendliest, non-shedding 🙂 smart and most well behaved dogs! Enjoy the puppy times and getting to know Yankee!

    We just said goodbye to our perfect chocolate labradoodle Georgia Belle in August. They are an awesome breed but just beware that the first two years are not so fun. They do need a lot of exercise and training. And they are super smart and do not use it for good! Can’t wait to see more pictures!

      That only works when I get to name people…when the children name them, all bets are off…just ask Poppy Popsicle. Ha!

    So adorable! We have four kids and also had 3 dogs and 1 cat until this last summer when our oldest dog passed and our cat a few months later. 🙁 I have always said the more the merrier. Your house will be a little fuller and maybe a little crazier during the puppy stage but your hearts will be filled with more love too and who wouldn’t want that?!

      Frenchie is super curious and Poppy is THRILLED! Poppy has been even more hyper than normal 😉 .

    OH NO NO NO! Smooth move Smith and Andrew! I clearly see the mental manipulation! They are trying to woo you over to the dark side by creating warm snuggly feelings every time you say the name “Yankee” Shay! LOL and HAHA! Stay STRONG Mama! She is precious!!

    I love her name. We went with the alcohol theme for our puppy names…we have a Morkie named Bellini and a shiz tzu named Oatmeal Stout, although he usually goes by Oatie. ?

    What a cutie! But you’ve confirmed my fear that if I give in and get my 11 year old her own pup for her next birthday I’ll end up with a third dog within the next two years when her sister decides it’s only fair she gets her own, too!

    So excited to see this from a doodle lover here. When I got my goldendoodle almost 7 years ago I was struggling coming up with a name. As I was reading your blog, Kensington’s name hit me. So we named her Kensington Kate after your girl. (I think I shared this with you via an email at the time). They are crazy, smart, hyper, all around the best.

    Why did you choose a mini-labradoodle this time over another Coton de Tulear? We are interested in getting our first dog for our girls (ages 4 &8).

      Smith has wanted one for several years. My friend Kari has two, and he just thinks they’re so adorable. That being said, we loooove Cotons!!
