Well, if you’re looking for a little bit of random happiness in your life, I have it today!
I don’t know about you, but when I saw this on Pinterest this week, I chuckled because it looks a lot like my night…
…except I will be “partying” with five other people 😉 .
As always, I have a random little assortment for your Friday, and am I’m linking up with my girls Andrea, Erika and Narci .
Grab some coffee, settle in and let’s get started with…
I had a lot of questions yesterday about what I’ve ordered to supplement my kids’ schooling at home…
…I bought several things off of Amazon to help with our learning over here/work on therapies and this is one of my favorites. This HERE is great for both Madeley and Ashby (fantastic for her occupational therapy!!).
I also bought this word search for Madeley…
…and this crossword puzzle for all three big kids…
For the most part, Ashby and Madeley can both work on them independently and complete each page but not too quickly (they’re a little challenging for both of them which I love). Sometimes, I have to help Ashby with her clues, but she’s getting the hang of it!
One thing we did over the weekend was clean out/organize the little girls’ closet and create a…
…specific “play clothes drawer”. I had their play clothes in different areas all over the closet (some things hanging, some in drawers, some with their dance stuff, some up high, etc), but I went through and designated one low drawer for all of their play clothes (and any that K has outgrown that we could pass down). Now, I can say “go get some play clothes on” and they can do it all independently from one spot. Why did it take me so long to do it?! This has been one of the best things we’ve done! Having one spot (in a drawer they can reach) has been so very helpful and totally one of my faves this week!
Speaking of girls and clothes, she walked outside on Wednesday…
…and I was like “where did my baby go?!”. Guys, she is SO GROWN UP!!!
A big favorite around here has been…
…our sweet Ashby got contacts!!
Woohoo!!
On the way to the hospital last time, Ashby was really upset about everything, so we were trying to think of things to life her spirits after her surgery, and she said “get contacts” which is so nice because at that moment, I was prepared to find her a unicorn. She has another friend who started wearing them when she was 8, so I asked her mom a few questions and then after two eye doctor appointments, she received hers loves them so much! We’re working on her being able to 100% handle them on her own and right now, we’re halfway there. She can easily remove them, we just need to continue working on her putting them in (in the meantime, I am). Everything from sports to bike riding to reading to swinging has been so much easier without her glasses falling down. She’s already said that she cannot wait to go skiing again now that she won’t have glasses on under her goggles. This girl can just handle anything that comes her way 🙂 .
This…
…I have watched this multiple times this week and it ALWAYS makes me laugh!!
On Wednesday, I shared some of my favorite vacation outfits from our spring break trip…
…if you want to see all of the details from these outfits, see that post HERE. So many of them are great Amazon finds!!
Three other things that I love, love, loved from our trip were…
First, these light, light, light earrings! You’ll notice that I have them on in most of the pics in either pink or orange. I actually loved them so much that I also bought them in turquoise now that they’re 40% off! They’re so light!
This item here was probably my #1 favorite thing I bought for our trip…
…this little crossbody bag!! I love this bag! It’s small yet holds quite a bit, zips up, the leather is soft and it’s just really cute. I was SO PLEASED with this find!
And then my last fave was…
…these sunny flip flops 🙂 . They run true to size! Love them!
Alrighty, last but not least…
…I’m announcing our giveaway winner!
Ready?!

I always put my contact on the side of my eye and drag it into place once it seals. I cannot put it directly on my eye. And to take it off I do the same thing, I just drag it to the side so I can pinch and grab it off. Sooooo very random but this was life changing when I started doing this.
Erika Slaughter says
Hahahaha! That meme made me laugh! Kensington is looking so grown up-yes! And I also think those contacts have Ashby looking older too! I’m certain this quarantine life has me looking older too! ???????

I love that cross body purse. Especially the green one..I’m definitely adding that to my Mother’s Day wish list. Have a great weekend!
Victoria says
I know you will have thought carefully about contacts but ooh, 8 feels young. My mum made me wait til I was 18 ?
I now use ones that you don’t have to take out every night. You wear them for a month straight. Might be worth looking at.

Yay for contacts for Ashby! What a sweet encouragement for her!
Katherine says
I started wearing glasses when I was 7.5 and within in 6 months, I negotiated with my mom and eye doctor for contacts. It was completely worth it. My mom helped me put them in at first but I figured it out in no time. I truly think it helped my confidence and was so much easier to be an active kiddo. I always felt and still do feel more put together when I’ve got my contacts in rather than my glasses which I only wear at night.
Carol says
I love your blog! Will you be sharing information from your cruise vacation at some point? The Pride of America is on my “in the next five years” vacation list! 🙂

40-year-old over here who started wearing contacts right after turning 9. I felt the same way about them as your M. I will never forget going off to ride my bike and being amazed at how clear everything seemed! So happy for her!
Liz Thorson says
I’m sooo very happy for Ashby! Game changer for her in alllll of the ways you shared! I’m 69 and have been wearing contacts since I was 16. I never would wear my glasses in public! Looking back, gads, I don’t want to think about all I missed out on really seeing!
Kensington is so darling! She looks like a teenager, already! No!
Love all of your children! Stay healthy, Shay! You are a ray of positivity and fun! Thank you!
All of our state parks are now closed, so running will have to be on the streets or city parks! I head out with our 2 Black Labs, to walk or run, every day!

Mix and Match Mama says
She is HYSTERICAL!!!
Aurelia says
Way to go, Ashby! If she needs new glasses in the future, you should look into low nose bridge “asian fit” glasses. They’re for people with shallower nose bridges and are specially designed so they don’t slide down.

So glad to have reconnected with you and your fun-loving friends and family. LIFE has gotten in the way of my blog writing and blog reading but I am hoping this self-quarantine will provide me with time to catch up.
Your daughters have all grown so much. While they will always be YOUR babies, they aren’t babies any more. So precious.
And you are lookin’ all biscuity brown in your vacation outfits. That orangey-coral coverup is adorable on you. What a fabulous color. Great finds in those pieces, your crossbody, flippies and earrings.

I was a childhood contact wearer too, and finally got vision correct surgery last year (age 33). The one thing I wish an eye dr or parent had told me, rather than “don’t sleep in them, it’s bad for your eyes” is to explain sleeping in them can do permanent damage if your eyes are forced to eventually grow new blood vessels due to lack of oxygen getting to your corneas. Plus it looks not so great with red blood vessels all over the whites of your eyes. I didn’t know this was a thing until I had an extremely knowledgeable and thorough eye dr take the time to explain the details in my 30s!

What book is Kensington holding in the photo? Something Haute Couture? Looks like the perfect birthday gift idea for a fashion loving child!
