It’s Friday!!!
I hope you guys all had a great week! Now, you know that I’m a super huge Boston Red Sox fan, but this weekend, I am channeling all of my team spirit into the Dallas Cowboys game on Saturday night. They need to win. If not, I’m fairly certain the men in my house will cry. #notjoking
Today, it’s PART THREE of our trip recap to Park City PLUS, I’m partnering with Nordstrom and ShopStyle to share my favorite “traveling to vacation” outfit!
Ah!
So fun, right?
Right before Christmas, they reached out and asked me if I would like to talk about what I wear for flights and/or long car rides, and I was like UM, YES! After all of these years of traveling, I pretty much have a “uniform” for flights. This was easy peasy to pull together because I had everything I needed already in my closet and ready to go for when we departed for Park City…
…here we are at the airport ready to go!
This was my outfit for the day…
COZY SWEATER//BLACK JEANS//WARM SCARF//COMFY BOOTS
I love to wear my black Paige jeans on flights for so many reasons. One, they’re incredibly comfortable. A few weeks ago, I mentioned on here that I don’t wear leggings because I haven’t found any that are as comfy as my black Paige jeans. Mine are several years old, and I still reach for them over and over again. I also love that they’re black because I’M TRAVELING WITH FOUR KIDS. There’s no way I get off any flight with less than three things spilled on me.
I bought this cozy sweater (that has a nice length to it) back before Christmas and swoon every time I put it on. It’s soft, it’s warm, it’s not too bulky for under a coat and it comes in so many fun colors. I always carry a scarf with me on a flight (because it can also be used as a blanket for either myself or one of the kids and it covers up spills on my shirt. Ha!), and I love this one because even though it’s a little heavier, it’s not bulky! It’s hard to work with bulky scarves sometimes, but this one is just right. You’ll see there that I also travel with my Ugg booties for a couple of reasons. One, they’re just really comfortable to wear! And two, you never know when you’re going to have to remove your shoes. For instance, even though I have my TSA pre-check, sometimes, they still can ask you to remove your shoes or (call me crazy), but sometimes, if I get hot on a plane and think I might get sick (you know me and my weak stomach), being able to remove my shoes for a minute helps cool me down and makes me feel better. (Is that weird?)
One more thing. Whenever I’m flying, I almost always wear…
…stud earrings. I find it hard to put headphones on/earbuds in when I’m wearing any other type of earring, so I wear studs on flights. My mother-in-law and I found these Kate Spade studs on Christmas Eve and each bought some! I loved them so much that I bought the clear ones and the green ones (they come in a gazillion colors), look…
…aren’t they pretty! These studs are light too!
So, that’s my uniform for flights.
I haven’t recapped the last day of our trip yet, but I pretty much wore the same uniform home too…
…this leopard sweater (with the cute buttons on the side…see pic below) is SO SOFT!!!!! I wore my Paige jeans again, Ugg booties again, Kate Spade studs again and this rose colored scarf.
…see the cute buttons on the side 🙂 .
Don’t forget, you can see…
…what I pack in my carry on bag HERE. And to see my “inflight routine” for long flights, click HERE.
If you’re heading off somewhere warm this winter (lucky you!), Nordstrom also has a lot of warm destination vacation finds that you might need for your trip like…
…just scroll and click to see!
Did you see this in there…
…my favorite maxi dress that I wear ALL.THE.TIME.WHEN.I.FLY is on sale right now and comes in so many colors! This pic here is two years old. I’m telling you, I wear this dress on repeat when it’s warm outside and I need to travel! It’s black too 🙂 .
With free shipping, free returns, free alterations and the new curbside pick up (you can order online and then your stuff is delivered to your car!!), Nordstrom makes vacation shopping SO EASY!

PART ONE
PART TWO
PART THREE kicks off with…
…Madeley eating breakfast 🙂 .
Please note ALL THE GEAR we are drying out back there. #whew
This day was January 1st, so we decided to hit the town and then head on over to Midway, Utah. First stop…
…outside where it was COLD!
Four degrees cold!
Love these people 🙂 .
We spent quite a bit of time in their super cute book store in town.
Happy peeps!
For lunch, we ate at 501 on Main Street. Their food was SO GOOD!!! I had the chili (I think it was bison chili) and three out of four kiddos has grilled cheese with tomato soup. Everyone was super happy about this lunch spot!
This girl is sunshine 🙂 .
After lunch, they asked if they could build a snowman…
…I sang “Do You Want to Build A Snowman” in my head the entire time.
It was cold, but they were determined.
They were so proud 🙂 .
Earlier in the fall, we made reservations with Rocky Mountain Outfitters for a sleigh ride and to see the Ice Castles. It was kind of a bummer because a few days before, they had to unexpectedly close down the ice castles for the week, so we missed out on that part. I hear it’s really fun, so if you can, try and make reservations for that. However, we showed up in time for our sleigh ride…
…cold and happy!
This place was so pretty!!
The only problem was that our sleigh ride turned into a carriage ride because in Midway, they didn’t have enough snow on the ground…
I thought these horses were so pretty 🙂 .
All aboard the carriage ride!!
Madeley decided to nap instead.
Our kiddos had the best time doing this…but if Andrew and I had to do it over again, we would make some adjustments. First, we would really try and make sure we could do the sleigh instead of the carriage (per friends, the sleigh is more fun and a more unique experience), and we would have done it at night. We picked an afternoon time because we thought “well, what would you see at night?”, but honestly, we didn’t see anything during the day. We went up to this parking lot, turned around and came back (it was supposed to have been a 45 minute ride, but it only lasted 30). When we asked about the night rides, they said it’s much colder (so pay attention to that), but the beauty of it is that you get to see the stars. Ahhhhh…that would have been special.
When we arrived back in Park City, we enjoyed a yummy dinner at Crystal Park Cantina! I had the shrimp tacos and they were divine. My favorite part though? Their nachos that we shared as an appetizer!
Chips, please! Hahahaha!
Warm food and a cold night!
After dinner, we showered up and then played dominoes. Anyone else out there play 42? It’s our family’s favorite domino game!
Whew!
That wraps up my first week in blog world for 2019!
I hope you all have the BEST weekend!!! xo

That area looks absolutely gorgeous!!! But four degrees?? I don’t think my body would even know what to do in weather like that!
Kristi says
Would you recommend bringing along my Apple Watch on our cruise? Or leaving it behind? Thanks! Also, do you have any tips for not feeling icky while out of normal eating, working out routine, traveling? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Do you have a 3 or 4? In my opinion, if you have one with cellular, you would probably want to turn that off before leaving on a cruise. Other than that, I would! I did yoga every afternoon when I got back after skiing (before dinner), so that helped. I mean…I was indulging big time with what I ate, but always tell myself it’s just for a few days and then, I’ll be back in my normal routine.
Kristi says
Thanks so much, Shay!! You always have the best advice! I’m getting spray tanned and also having my nails done. Should I try dipped?? I’ve never before…but do you recommend waxing or sugaring before too?? Thanks so much!!! You’re like the big sister I never had!! ????
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t know??? I’ve only ever had mine dipped three times and I’m still not sure about it. I didn’t wax or sugar before (I don’t even know what that means. Hahahaha!)
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
Aw I’m sorry the ice castles in Midway were closed that week! I went two years ago and there were so cool! I would wonder with the lack of snow in PC how they could keep them going. At night the ice castles light up and have all different colors through out the ice, slides and tunnels. It sounds like you guys had a great trip! I’m all about the scarf and easy jewelry as part of my travel uniform too! Happy Friday!

Sarah Shaneyfelt says
This makes me want to visit Park City!!! Do you work out while on vacation, too?

IF I do anything (and that’s a big IF), it’s yoga.
Narci says
Both of those sweaters are absolutely gorgeous on you, friend! Happy Friday!!
Sheaffer Sims says
You are the master of traveling! And I agree about a scarf, it makes the perfect blanket or pillow! I have that rose scarf too and I LOVE IT!!! Also loved getting to see all of the pics of your trip. p.s. Now I want fundido for breakfast after seeing it on the menu.
Rrachel says
I go to the original Crystal Park Cantina all the time. The owners are friends and I was their daughters teacher! If you ever get to Colorado Springs eat there. The location is very cool, tucked into the mountains. Great people too!
Mix and Match Mama says
The owner came by our table and was SO NICE! It’s funny you say that because he really stood out to me. He was very friendly!!
Rachel says
Shay, like Andrew he played for the NFL. Justin played on the Broncos and the Ravens! But he’s a local Manitou Springs boys. Super nice yes!
Brandy says
Did they tell you that they unexpectedly had to close the ice castles?! That is very strange because they usually don’t even open until after the New Year- this year they opened the 7th for the first time this season.
Mix and Match Mama says
We had a reservation and then received an email saying it would be closed for like 5 or 6 days. Boo.
Kelly says
Are you still using Yoga Glo? If so, I’d love to see a post about your favorite classes / instructors / etc. I loved it for a long time but I feel like I’m in kind of a rut with it.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! They changed the name to just Glo now (for anyone searching it in the app store). My favorite instructors are Taylor Harkness and Kristi McGee!
Amy says
Hi! How did the green sweater run?
Mix and Match Mama says
True to size!
~B~ says
Looks amazing! I recently just wrote you with travel questions about what boots you recommend and your posts this week have been spot-on with ideas for travel we have later this year! I’m also really hungry for shrimp tacos now. 🙂 Thanks, as always, for sharing what you do!
Jennifer says
Where did you find your black Pom hat? I had almost an exact same one and my husband threw it in the dryer with all our ski stuff by accident in our ski cabin one night and it killed the Pom 🙁 I’m having a hard time finding another one. Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
Nordstrom!! The brand is TopShop!
Andrea H says
I would love to see ideas for traveling from one climate to another (cold to hot, hot to cold). We’re traveling to the Bahamas next month, and I’m a little stumped for travel gear. It will likely be freezing here and tropical there.
Christina says
Richard Paul Evans has the best book that takes place in midway, Utah. It’s so cozy and I know you love cozy.
Mix and Match Mama says
I love cozy 🙂 .
Ruth says
I want to go to Park City now! I always enjoy your vacation recaps. Also, I will cry, too if the Cowboys lose and will cry even harder if the Eagles win!
Kim says
Is your phone an iPhone XS Max? Can you remind me where you purchased your marble case?
Thanks.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a iPhoneX and maybe a Max…but that doesn’t sound familiar. The case is on Amazon. Search rose gold granite case 🙂 .
Pam says
I haven’t heard of the domino game. Maybe sometime you could blog about family games you guys like and how to play 42?

cassie // hi sugarplum says
In love with all these pics…and your cute travel styles!
Leah says
Do you think kids ages 5, 3, and 1 would be too young for a ski vacation?
Mix and Match Mama says
I would think that the 1 year old (and possibly the three year old), but would too young to ski, but not too young to enjoy the snow and all of the cozy ski resort things to do.
Jaime says
Have you ever heard of a kids clothing line called Hanna Anderson? They have really well made kids clothes like Matilda Jane. We love them for there PJs. Just wondering if you had ever heard of them? Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! There is a Hanna Anderson at our mall!! I’ve purchased some things there before. It’s super cute!!
Sharon K says
I’m so glad to hear that you’re are teaching your kids to play 42!! I grew up in TX and played 42 my whole life, then went to Texas A&M & played 42 constantly there. Then we left TX and have lived in several states … NO ONE knows anything about 42!! We lived in western KS for a few years and there was an older couple in our church that played when they had lived in Arkansas in their earlier years. They actually called it “Texas 42” … never had heard that before. Now we live in ID and no one knows anything about it here either. So it’s just my own family and whenever 4 of us are in a room, someone breaks out the dominos!! Yea!!
Dianna says
We did a carriage ride in Colorado at night and it was so boring. We were disappointed
Mix and Match Mama says
Really? See! It’s so hard to decide!!
Nicole says
I received those Ugg boots for Christmas and I love them!! Just curious, do you wear socks with them? If so, any specific kind? I have a hard time wearing socks with them because they slip off, or my feet just get too warm.
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not! I let my feet be cozy on the inside without socks!
CARRIE says
This may have been answered before but what does the small icon on the bottom right of your Apple indicate. I have seen it show 15 and 30 in the pics you shared
Trying to optimize my Apple WAtch 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s a timer! I use a timer all the time for cooking (and other things too), so I keep it on the front of my watch.
CARRIE says
Duh?! Should have known! Thanks!
Jennifer says
Where’d you get that gold choker necklace you’re wearing in the pic with the denim jacket? I’ve been on the hunt for something similar!
Mix and Match Mama says
Nordstrom! The brand is Gorjana.
Shannon says
Several years ago you introduced me to Kate Spade stud earrings. They are now my favorite to wear and favorite to gift! Your trip looks like a major success!
Sadia says
Which Apple Watch do you have? Size and series? Is cellular worth it?
