It’s MAY!!!
On my word, I needed it to be MAY!
Every single year, I blog about how much I love May 1st. It reminds me of September 1st or January 1st…typically, it’s the beginning of a new season for us. Every other year, the first day of May has been the beginning of the end. The end of school, the end of busy sports schedules, the end of dance rehearsals and the end of all of the “normal” busyness of life. Welllllll…as we all know, this year, May is different. My hope and prayer is that this year, May is the beginning and not the end. The beginning of life starting to go back towards normal again.
I love this pic from May 2019!
Yesterday morning, when I sat down at my desk and marked off the date (like I always do), I was really excited to mark off that last day of April knowing the next day would be somewhat of a fresh start. If nothing else, it gave me that boost of optimism that keeps me running.
This pic is from May 2018!
Last year on May 1st, I shared some goals for the month, some yummy recipes plus a giveaway…and I loved that post BUT I wanted this May to be even BIGGER and even BETTER, so here’s what we’re going to do…along with this…
…our annual #photodadayinmay2020 on Instagram (which is really fun and I hope you all do along with us!!!) and…
…these yummy May recipes (it might not be summer yet, but I think we could all use a little summer state of mind in the kitchen!!), Mix and Match Travel Agency is going to share…
…31 Days of Getaways!!
Last week, I had several conversations back to back with clients that really encouraged me that YOU GUYS are still excited about traveling!
In honor of May, new beginnings and HAPPINESS, over the next 31 days, we’re going to be featuring a new destination each day on my Mix and Match Travel Agency Facebook and Instagram channels along with doing little giveaways during the week on my Mix and Match Mama Instagram AND we’re going to end the whole month with the BIGGEST GIVEAWAY I’VE EVER DONE!
Bigger than ever.
(And I’ve done some HUGE giveaways before!!)
It will be open to all US and Canadian citizens and you should go ahead and get excited about that RIGHT NOW!
For instance, today’s vacation destination is…
…Alaskan Cruises!
Did you know that we all have specialities here at MMTA and that one of mine are Alaskan Cruises?! Want to know one of the reasons why I love them so much? Because they’re for people of all ages!! I send so many multigenerational families on these vacations because the weather is beautiful, the scenery is stunning, the ships are fantastic and there is something to do for everyone (whether you want an adventure, something leisurely or anything in-between). That’s today’s #31daysofgetaways destination suggestion! If you have questions about these cruises (or any other vacation!), you can reach us at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com.
Whew, anyone else ready for MAY too?!
Anyone else ready for a new beginning?
Anyone else ready to hit the road and see something besides the inside of their house?
Anyone else happy that it’s MAY?!
Comment and tell me one thing you’re looking forward to this month! xo
Susan Jeffries says

Stay safe!

Kristen says
My husband and I bought a house in central Maine and moved here with our children four years ago. We also made the decision after a wonderful summer vacation here. We love it!
Kasey says
Love the start of something new. Ready for “summer” to start.
Carrie says
We live near Philadelphia and it’s going to be the same thing for a long time. We have been hit hard. So maybe June? But honestly social distancing will be in place for months on end. But I would love to pack my kids up at some point and head to the outer banks or maybe just have some sort of contact with grandparents! Not sure cruises will be a thing until 2021.. But going to Alaska is on our family’s bucket list. I just also saw that Sicily is offering to pay half of airline flights and a 1/3rd of hotel prices when they open up for tourism!
Mindy Tierney says
I live outside of Philly too, in Chester County. I don’t see us opening up for long time. We are hit very hard. Other states might not realize it, but in PA we must wear masks just to grocery shop. I’m actually glad they made that new rule.
I’m very excited for high 60 temps this weekend. Anything is better than the freeze warnings last week and rain, rain and more rain!
Christi says
I live in Ohio and we are not considered a hot spot however masks are pretty much required here too. And we were the first state or one of the first for the distance learning and/or stay at home mandate which has been extended until at least May 29th so planning much or any travel this year is likely not going to happen. But I’d love to be socially distancing with warm weather, a book, and a pool.
Katherine says
Looking forward to a break from teaching when my semester ends for my college students!
Amy Wolff says
I am so excited to get back to our normal… get the boat in the water, join our local swimming club, and spending endless days with my girls and husband!

Thank you for always being a bright spot in my day!!! 🙂

Sarah Hall says

We may not be able to travel like we had planned, but nonetheless a break from work will be much needed!
Looking forward to some fun giveaways! 🙂

I also look forward to my Birthday (May 5!) and Mother’s Day because it’s literally the only two days alllll year that I say no to doing any dishes! Ha! Colleen T. says
My daughter’s 9th birthday! Well she’s excited…I’ll be crying about how fast it all goes. But excited to have something on my planner LOL!
Sonia says
WOW, thank you Shay and MMTA! You are so very generous.

HAPPY MAY DAYS!

It’s looking like we will be under Stay at Home orders for a while still (2 months so far). I’m looking forward to warmer temps and sunshine, maybe some strawberry picking, trails, bike riding. I’m ready to stay home and watch the chaos embark as states open too quickly in my book. I am high risk with losing a kidney to cancer and am completely afraid to go out. I don’t trust people to keep ME safe by wearing a mask. It’s just a crazy time and nothing will ever be the same again.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so sorry about your health, Beth. I’m going to stop and pray for you right now!
Jami Romano says
We were scheduled to visit Alaska this summer, but it got pushed back til next summer 🙁 I just want to see friends! I am honestly loving this time at home, though 🙂

Shay, can you update us on changes that will be coming for cruising. I’ve read that several cruise lines are planning to ban travel for anyone over the age of 70, anyone with undying medical issues, and other regulations. Also read that the want everyone to have been tested and cleared for Covid-19 virus before purchasing tickets.
Mix and Match Mama says
The best place to get that specific information is from each cruise line as they update/modify/amend/change their policies as they will not all be uniformed.
Lauren says

Also expecting Baby #3 next month so I’m going to enjoy my 8 straight hours of sleep every night. ?

I’ll admit that May isn’t giving me much hope as I think we will be at home for quite a while longer. Nothing is opening up here. AND we don’t finish online school until mid June! All sports seasons and all of our summer plans have been cancelled. My mental health (already fragile) has taken a beating with no end in sight. ?

It’s so tough right now. Wishing you a happy day, Tina!

So glad for a new month…time to refresh and start new…but we just found out our #stayathome has been extended to the 28th. UGH! I am one on the lucky ones that work from home, so I’m not going to complain. Thank you for keeping the “normalcy” going. I look froward to your blog everyday. I love your positive outlook, but still keeping it real. Have a great weekend, take care and stay safe.

So my bday is free!

Oh gosh, so many things to be looking forward to right now. I hope that May brings us some relief and peace as it seems many are really struggling and that there are also many at odds with each other over how we should be going about our daily lives. I am so ready for digital learning to be over, it has been really hard to keep my youngest motivated. My husband and I have always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise, maybe that will be in our future!
