Every year, one of our very favorite fall traditions is Oktoberfest! German food is my fave, and the two Oktoberfests we visit locally each year are always such fun, family-friendly ways to enjoy fall.
In 2020 though?
No Oktoberfest.
BUT I can still make some of my easy recipes that are a wink and a nod to German food at home for my family to enjoy.
Turn on Pandora and crank up a fun Oktoberfest station, whip up one of these recipes, grab a beer or two and have Oktoberfest in your kitchen! xo
Easy Weeknight Wiener (or pork!!) Schnitzel
Easy Little German Sheet Tray Supper
Until next year. xo

Curious! Do you have much for German Resturants in McKinney? I’m in Connecticut and we have about 3 within a half hour to where I live. Love German food! I am most disappointed about missing all the fairs but my friend hosted “a fair festival” and we all brought our favorites, it was so fun!

We have one about 20 minutes from our house in a neighboring town that’s fantastic! I’ve celebrated my birthday there two years in a row! We have another in Fort Worth too that’s amazing.

We’re totally doing this! It’s the second best thing. Right?

Such a bummer about Oktoberfest but making the best of it at home is all we can do! We have an amazing German restaurant in Indianapolis called The Rathskeller. 🙂

Aldi has German week this week. They are selling the spicy red cabbage with apples in a glass jar, among many other things, including lots of desserts (none gluten free unfortunately).
Sloppy Joes are a bit of a stretch to count as German food though. 🙂

It’s the beer cheese 😉 . I’ve never been to an Aldi’s! I need to try it!

Shay, how do you think the wiener schnitzel recipe might do in the air fryer? Would you have a recommendation for temp and cooking time, or do you think it’s best to stick to the oven?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Do it! I like around 375ish for about 20 minutes!
