Hey, hey Wednesday!
I am super pumped about today’s post because I’m partnering with Nordstrom and ShopStyle and talking all things holiday beauty including two things that have been VERY popular in my DMs over the last two weeks…
What is your new lip color?
AND
What eye shadow palette have you been using?
The answer?
Both Nordstrom finds!
But before we get to that, let’s chat about…
…the Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow. I told you guys last month that I love my primer and wear it every day. I had SO MANY OF YOU tell me that if I loved that one, I would really love this one here. I decided to go into my local Nordstrom to check it out. I realllllly like it and have been using it exclusively for about 3 weeks now.
After I moisturize in the morning, I apply this…
…and blend it all over my face before adding my foundation (the best foundation EVER, I use shade light beige). See how it blends right in but with just the tiniest bit of “glow”?! I love it! My foundation, bronzer and blush stay put all day and my face gets a little extra oomph from the primer too. #winwin
The. Best. Foundation. Lately, I have been using this brush to apply it easily too. If you’re interested in my daily eyeliner, it’s HERE. It’s really the only one I’ve used for probably 8 years. It’s in a new package now, but it’s the same liner. I wear cafe noir.
So, that’s that…now, what about my eye shadow and lip color?
Well…
…I’m still wearing my NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Sex Machine (a great every day color), but for the holiday season, I’m wearing the same pencil but in Dragon Girl!
Sex Machine is this color right here. It’s just a nice pinky-mauve-every day color and then…
…Dragon Girl is the PERFECT red for me. It’s bright and happy red but leans more pink and not orange. I don’t add a ton on my lips…just smooth on a bit for lots of stay-all-day color without being too red. Plus, since it’s a pencil, it stays put and isn’t sticky/doesn’t rub off. Love.
Okay, as for my fun holiday-inspired eye shadows lately. I have been using this little palette here…
…so fun, right?! Four fun neutrals easy to layer for the holiday season. I’ve been using them every day all over my lid and in the crease. I really didn’t expect anyone to notice, but I’ve had SO MANY questions and sent the link out so many times these last two weeks. I’m so glad you like it too!
Eye Shadow, a red lip and the perfect little black (knit!) dress just in time for the holiday season!
If you’re like me, gifting beauty is one of my favorite things each year for ladies of all ages. I rounded up some of my faves for you to check out. All of these holiday beauty gift ideas are ones I’ve used, shared and loved before. I think they would make great gifts for girls as young as Kensington too. Who doesn’t want a little beauty in their stocking this year?!

A few more finds before I wrap up our Wednesday including…
…my new Ugg slippers 🙂 . You know how I feel about Ugg slippers. You would be hard pressed to find any picture of me inside my home not wearing a pair. Every fall, I buy myself a fresh new pair to enjoy 24/7 and this year, I picked this style HERE. It comes in a variety of colors, but chestnut spoke to me.
You know what my slippers would go great with????
My festive pjs 🙂 . Don’t forget, they come in other patterns too!
I always love shopping at Nordstrom because not only do they have everything my family needs from beauty to shoes to home, clothes, bath and more, but they have impeccable service, free shipping, free returns and curbside pick up (all so handy for the busy holiday season!)…and the Nordy Club! You can catch all of their services (including alterations, gift wrapping, style help and more HERE!). I. Love. Them. Plus, this year, they have more ways to make the season bright! You can connect with the ‘man in red’ through Santa Chats, Santa Greetings and Letters for Santa. So many ways!
A few final Nordstrom holiday finds…

Me again with a random comment, hahaha! Okay, have you ever had an injury and not able to work out? How did you handle that? Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not had an injury. I’ve had surgeries (like my hysterectomy) that prevented me from running but not an injury. I love your random questions! When I had my surgery, I just rested and took the time off.
Nicole says
Did it not bother you if your rings didn’t close?! Haha! You always help bring me balanced perspective!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahaha! On days like that, if it does bother me, I change my apple watch face to the basic clock so that I don’t see my rings.

I was listening to your podcast yesterday and realized how many fun things you’ve added to my life over the years! Even makeup-I never really knew what I was doing (still don’t! ?), but your suggestions across all subjects have made my days have so many more little more happies. I know you do this for a business as well, but thank you for influencing my life in so many sweet ways!! After yesterday’s podcast I’m looking forward to hosting a little party here to get to know some more ladies from my church, too. ? Who knew how all those years ago that little decision to read your blog would be so impactful in my life!
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhh Dana!!! I could cry!!! Thank you for your kind words and support all of these years!!
Sheaffer says
Adding primer to cart NOW!
Stephanie says
Do you use the Neulash serum? Just curious how well it works before I purchase.
Mix and Match Mama says
I do!! I use it about twice a week because if I use it more than that, my lashes actually get too long and bother me. I think it makes them nice and full too!
Susy says
But it’s your favorite eyeliner I crave to know! It’s my can’t live without it one makeup item!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, it’s Lancome’s waterproof. They just changed the formula, and I’m using the new one. Other than the fact that you have to sharpen this one (I loved how the other one didn’t require sharpening), I love it. I’ll find it and add it to my post right now!
Jessica Tribbett says
Will you please do an updated skincare post? I was looking for a new Retinol and trying to find your last recommendation and realized it’s been awhile!
Mix and Match Mama says
Totally!! Great idea!
Kathy says
Did you switch from tarte? Do you recommend these over tarte now because I bought tarte based on your recommendation.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I love tarte!!! Their eye shadow palettes are my favorite. In fact, I have a new one to share this week too! I think Charlotte Tilbury makes really great palettes too, but the only one I have right now is this smaller more festive quad for the holidays which layer great alone or over my tarte neutrals.
Jen says
Your hair looks so pretty in the picture where you are wearing the black dress. Could you do a quick tutorial on how to do a fancy ponytai?
Mix and Match Mama says
Totally!
Leanne says
This is totally random~~totally going to sound odd~~but Shay! You look SO MUCH. like Elisabeth Shue! She’s only one of my favorite actresses EVER! Especially in your “perfect little black knit dress” with those knee high boots! Ahhh, I love Elisabeth Shue! LOL! A super, super great movie she’s in, Dreamer, is one of our favorites! You MUST watch it with your family! Oh, and thanks for all of the holiday recommendations! Great stocking stuffer ideas!
Mix and Match Mama says
I mean…you just made my day!! Cocktail, Adventures in Babysitting…THYANK YOU!!
Leanne says
Shay, here’s a big old Southern both-of-your-cheeks kiss~~MWAH! It’s true! <3
