- Step 5: Choose Your Complexion
- Step 6: Choose Your Skincare or Tool
- Step 7: Choose Your Kit Bag
You know I love all things beauty, so picking out my own kit made me feel like a kid in a candy store.
Here was my selection:
#1: tarteist PRO to go palette
#2: tarte – Clay Stick Foundation
#3: Shape Tape Quickie Blending Sponge
#4: Breezy Cream Bronzer
#5: Surfer Curl Volumizing Mascara
#6: tarteistTM quick dry matte lip paint in rosé
#7: Glam to Glo Glitter Makeup Bag
You know how much I love a foundation stick (in medium beige), and this is a great one for either full or light coverage (depending on how much you apply). I use my Quickie Blending Sponge to apply it easily. I also use my sponge to apply a little bronzer, (my VERY FAVORITE BRONZER!). Speaking of favorites, obviously, I had to add my favorite volumizing mascara, Surfer Curl to my bag as well (I’ve been telling you guys about this one for over a year now!),and a quick dry matte lip (that won’t wear off, in rose!). Add a small (but mighty!) eye shadow palette and my bag is complete!
Now, let’s pause and talk about the Surfer Curl Volumizing Mascara a minute…
…I’ve raved and raved about this mascara for over a year now, but just look! After applying only one nice coat, look at the difference between my two eyes! I love it so much!!
Speaking of love…
…I just came home from two different trips where this was the only eye shadow palette I brought with me. It’s super small and light yet holds a great mix of neutrals for either day or night looks. They’re all so easy to blend and layer easily!
The perfect combination: Clay Stick Foundation plus Quickie Blending Sponge.
tarte’s Breezy Cream Bronzer is my absolute favorite! I wear it every single day. My go-to shade is either Seychelles or I use a little Grace Bay (it’s a bit darker, pictured here).
Right now, create your kit and then also add my very favorite Shape Tape concealer to your cart, and it’s only $20 at checkout! LOVE!!!
A super quick and easy kit to help me with my “every day” makeup routine!
So, don’t forget, starting TODAY through November 4th, you can get 7 full-size items of your choice to create your own kit for only $65 (up to 70% off!) + free shipping. You can create up to THREE kits per order too!!
Happy kit building!!!

We have a very good friend that was adopting a newborn. They had him for almost a month and had to hand him back over to the birth mom. To say they are devastated is an understatement. Besides praying for them, which I am doing non stop, I would love other ideas to support them through this.
Mix and Match Mama says
That is just so heartbreaking. Oh goodness, that just is so hard. This happened to a friend of mine and she asked for help removing the baby items from the home. She couldn’t/didn’t want to do it/think about it, so we removed it all for her. That was the first thing that came to mind just now. I’m so sorry they’re experiencing this pain.

I am listening to the Bestie Breakdown, and I laughed out loud at the thought of the entire Harry Potter story being told in one book, and then I interrupted my husband in his office to tell him, and he laughed out loud too. Tears and laughs in this episode! Oh, and Shay, I don’t know if it makes any difference to you, but it’s fantasy, not science fiction. I hate sci fi, and can only handle certain kinds of fantasy, like Harry Potter or Mary Poppins. Finally, your snarky response to the woman in Starbucks was AMAZING.
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhh! Thank you, Kristin!!! Thank you, thank you for listening (and laughing!) along today!!

Such a fun podcast to dive into! Loved recording this one even though there were tears!!

Where is your pineapple necklace from?
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh let’s see, I bought that at Alex and Ani (is that it) a few years ago!

Can you show us how you do your eye make up currently? I love the little line of shimmer under your eye!
Mix and Match Mama says
I totally can!

Loved the podcast today! As a foster mom currently and a mom who has adopted from the foster care, I loved your response to “why not adopt from the US?” Loved the snarky response. I have gotten some ridiculous questions as well and that snarky responses just feel better! We prayed about adding to our family for 2 years and I felt like God closed the door to international adoption and open end the doors (and windows) to fostering. Loved your message. On my walk listening to it, I had a few times of raising my hands like I was listening to a sermon from the pulpit! I shared your podcast on FB bc I felt like the “Why not me?” is huge for people to hear! Great job ladies!

Have either your or Erika watched Found on Netflix? It’s quite a story and just broke my heart in half on what these girls go through and how China’s law affected not only the parents that gave up their children (gut wrenching!) but how it affected the babies and their adoptive families as well. God bless the Nannies/Aunties who care for all of these orphans as well. What incredible heroes. I’ve always loved how you think of and pray for both your girl’s birth mothers as those mothers never, ever forget the babies they let leave their arms. Loved this podcast, it was a favorite for sure and that comment to the woman in Starbuck’s, love it. Well done.

I need to catch up with the podcast, I’m a few episodes behind!! I bought a Tarte kit and I picked products for my teenage daughter for her stocking and a couple things for me, what a fun deal, thanks for sharing! 🙂

Hi Shay! I’m curious about your adoption choices as the sister of an adopted child… what made you choose to adopt from another country instead of here in the states? I know we have a huge need, especially in TX, for foster & adoptive parents. Why did you choose overseas for *one less* when there’s such a need here?
Mix and Match Mama says
You should listen to today’s episode 🙂 .
Karen says
We are like Shay and in the process of adopting from China. There’s a lot of “red tape” and politics here in the US that a lot of parents don’t want to deal with, most notably the birth parents being present/changing their minds. It’s much easier/faster to go overseas for many families. Also, you can’t choose gender for an infant in US.
Sarah says
I want to be careful how I say this, but in terms of questions about adoption I have to imagine that people must wonder how a family decides what disabilities they are comfortable taking on in their potential child. Knowing that many of the abandoned children in China specifically, and I’m sure in other places as well, are children with disabilities it can’t be easy to make a decision about what you are okay with and what you don’t feel ready to manage.
I myself happen to work with children who have disabilities, which means I’ve seen the potential with some of these amazing children, but for many people who don’t have that exposure I would imagine it must feel like a barrier.
So I guess my question to you is about how you decided what was right for your families in that particular domain of adoption.
Mix and Match Mama says
This is such a great question/topic and something I think we’re going to cover in depth in a future episode. I will say this, you’re just never 100% prepared for receiving your kiddo by birth or adoption, so a big part of it is going out on faith and knowing the Lord will provide whatever the need may be.
Sarah says
I’m so glad to hear that you’re planning to talk about it. Or course there’s definitely a huge element of faith involved, especially when you consider that you might not even always have all the information until you meet your child and bring them home. I guess the interesting element when it comes to adoption is that parents are in a position where they kind of have a choice about what kind of disability they are willing to try and tackle, but of course most people probably don’t even know a whole lot about many of the conditions and disabilities that they might be asked about. I actually also wonder if there’s any education surrounding that topic when you go through the preparation process, or is it more of a research by google kind of preparation?
I have such a special place in my heart for the parents of some of my students who have been adopted. I specifically work with children who are deaf and hard of hearing (which is sometimes secondary to another condition), and I wish I could share with prospective parents who might be worried or just don’t know a lot about that particular disability that these kids (like so many other kids, both with and without disabilities!) are amazing and funny and smart and have fantastic potential, especially at a time like this when the technology that’s available is such a miracle. I hope it’s okay for me to put that out there in this forum!
