Eeeeeeeks! Happy Friday, friends!
I have so many things to cover today! A little Q&A, a little Christmas, a little athleticwear and some sweaters at crazy good deals.
Grab your PSL, get cozy and settle in. As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika .
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! xx
First up…
…EEEEEEEEEEKS!
You guys! Are your DVRs set? Do you have snacks? Do you have cozy pajamas to wear?!
I.AM.SO.EXCITED!!!!
My DVR is set for both, but please, please, please let me know if you see new ones/old faves coming up that I need to check out this season. I am 100% committed to watching as many as I can.
Ashby and I found ourselves in Old Navy this week and look at all the fun stuff we came home with…
…Old Navy has all of their holiday pajamas out for the whole family (including the dog!). These two were so excited to start wearing their new pajamas which makes sense since…
…I’ve been wearing mine too (with this t-shirt!).
We buy Old Navy holiday pjs every single year and every single year, we love them…
…who wants to get up and head to school when you have on these cozy fleece pjs?! Clearly not Madeley!
Look at what else I found at Old Navy…
…this super soft sweater! It came in other colors, but you all know how I feel about green. #itsmyfave
This is a waffle knit sweater, so it’s not hot, not itchy and not bulky. I bought it in xs.
Speaking of really adorable and affordable sweaters that I’ve found…
…look at this sweater here?! You guys, this one is only $17!! It comes in 12 different colors, but this brown shade made me think of Thanksgiving 🙂 .
This sweater here is 30% off today! It goes perfectly with my favorite booties too!
And rounding out my week…
…there are those booties again with this light weight sweater (only $29 and comes in many other colors!) and my new cozy warm (rain repellent!) coat.
I have been slacking on answering the Q&A questions, so before the end of the year, I’m going to try and sprinkle them in as often as possible.
Here are a few for today…
Agh! Laundry! It just never ends. Let me start by saying this, we do laundry over here every single solitary day (like including Christmas Day!), but the goal really isn’t to get our hampers all nice and empty and staying empty (that’s impossible), the goal is to just keep it all under control.
Here are just a few things we do/tips from years of experience:
1: Everyone helps with the laundry in some capacity. I used to do all of it myself, but over the last few years, it’s a team effort. All six of us make the clothes dirty, so all six of us help with laundry.
2: We *try* to do one person a load (so that you don’t have to sort at the end), but that’s not always possible (we’ll throw some random towels in with a load or something like that, but those are easy to spot and remove from the dryer). Since we try to do laundry by person, that means that in each closet, there is a basket for dirty clothes (not one big area where the clothes get all mixed up). Everyone puts their dirty clothes and towels in there and then when it’s full(-ish) we will do a load. So, for example, Smith might get his clothes washed twice a week but it’s easy to do since the entire load is his clothes and towels.
3: We put away clothes right away once they’re dry. For example, on a Monday morning, we might ask Ashby to bring down her laundry. She’ll bring it down, throw it in the empty washing machine, and we’ll help her get it started. While she’s at school, I will put it in the dryer and then when she’s home, she’ll put it back in her laundry basket, take it upstairs and put it away. I would MUCH RATHER see dirty clothes in laundry baskets than clean. It drives me CRAZY to see clean clothes laying around my house. Once it’s clean, it goes back up.
4: I always try to wash our sheets really early in the morning (like 4:15) so that by the time I typically make my bed (8:00-ish), they’re already washed and dried. Once a week, I make sure I go to bed with the washer empty so that the next morning, I can easily toss them in, workout, put them in the dryer, make lunches and then put them on my bed. For the kids, we just have a rotating schedule of “hey, grab your sheets before school” and then after school, they’re clean and ready to be put back on the bed.
Basically, Andrew and I are always on top of the laundry (Andrew is a huge help!), but it’s a never-ending chore that is a BEAST if it gets out of control.
I’m pondering my answer here…the thing is, typically the “downs” aren’t when things are going poorly for me but when I’m being complacent about my time with Jesus. The closest times I’ve ever been to Jesus, the times when I have felt His presence the most and had the most peace, are the worst times in my life. I think people (myself included) often think “bad times equals bad relationship with Jesus and good times equals good relationship”…but it’s my experience that “bad or good times equals a close and personal relationship with Jesus and lazy and complacent times equals me feeling distant”. Lets’ be clear, in my walk with the Lord, He likes to stay close. If there is ever someone straying from the other, it’s me straying from Him.
Beth Moore has written all of my favorite Bible studies. I just love her style of teaching God’s word. Right now, I’m OBSESSED with The Bible Recap. You can read about my experience this year doing it every day HERE.
Every year, I do an Advent study during the holiday season. My new one for 2022 arrived this week, and I’m so excited to dive in! If you’re looking for something seasonal, I can’t recommend these enough!
I might change things up from time to time and use a little variety, but my ride or die…the brand I swear by the most is Colleen Rothschild. Right now, it’s 25% off site wide too! For me, the key is a great serum for both day and night and lots of hydration that doesn’t sit too heavy on my skin from the moisturizer.
These are my faves…
Retinol Supreme Eye Serum
Age Renewal Super Serum
Sheer Renewal Cream
Radiant Cleansing Balm
Complete Eye Cream
Extreme Recovery Cream
If you read my blog early yesterday morning, then you missed this…
…I edited my post and added what I had on that very morning because I loved it so much and all purchases are 20% off! My morning went from yoga to school drop off (x3!) and dog walking in my MOTO LEGGINGS (love these!)//TANK, SPORTS BRA and INLET JACKET! Each piece comes in a variety of colors too from sizes XXS to 3X!
Finally, just in time for your weekend…
…I’m sharing some Boo-zy Cocktails and Family Beverages for Halloween!
Need a drink and snack idea to go with your movie this weekend? No worries! I have you covered HERE!
That wraps up my week! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I’ll see you Monday! xx

Shay,
Our youngest even said last night Christmas movies start tomorrow!!
We have watched a couple movies from GAC on prime. Checkout winter palace..I think with Danica McKellar.
We will be enjoying our probably last warm weekend up north. The cool temps and wind brought down a lot of our leaves this week.
Have a great weekend!!
Amy Heinl says
There is a kick off new Hallmark movie tonight called Noel Next Door and then on Sunday there is a new one on Hallmark movies and mysteries called A Kismet Christmas…so 4 new ones this weekend

The girls in their Christmas pajama selfie wins the internet today!!! And Madeley in the wake up picture is hysterical!
Dana P says
If you go visit Andrew’s parents soon, she’s filming in Claremore, OK! So fun.
I sent you a DM on IG yesterday, but I know you see those less. If you apply arnica cream or take arnica granules, your bruise should go away! I keep a little tube in my purse and get it at Sprouts. You take 10 at the moment of impact. You can’t overdose on them. You twist them into the cap and then take them directly from it without touching the granules. Then 3 more the next day until it’s gone. They’re amazing! We never had goose eggs anymore after we found it. All my French mom friends kept it on them, too. 😊 They’re perfect for when kids fall because they taste good and distract them, too!
Mix and Match Mama says
Dana, you are the BEST!
Kim Fleming says
Suggestion: the GAC (Great American Channel) has a new wonderful Christmas movie lineup. Many of the Hallmark Channel stars signed on to the channel for various reasons. Cute storylines, beautiful scenery, and all very family friendly. You may want to look at their line up and recommend that to your followers as well. Have a great fall day!
Mix and Match Mama says
My mind is BLOWN! I had no idea!
Susan says
Yes! I love GAC!!
Amy says
Hi Shay! The Old Navy links just take me to the site, not the item. Just me?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have some going to all of the family pajamas (so you can see them all!) and some going to the specifics!
Carrie says
Eeeks! I am also so excited for all the Hallmark movies. My DVR is ready to go!
Abby says
Sooo, there is a Hallmark Movie App to keep track of new movies coming out and check off the ones you have seen…. I may or may not have it and may or may not have over over 400 watched throughout the years…. 🙂 I just love me some good wholesome hallmark movies all year long!
Laura Crenshaw says
Hi Shay, I am looking at the advent study and just wondering if I can do it in my own or do you have to have a group to do the study?
Thank you!
Laura
Mix and Match Mama says
I always do it on my own!

Laundry hint for anyone with kids… teach them to do it at an early age. At the point they all got to be about the same size it was too confusing to try and sort once everything was clean. In our house that is around 10-12.
The kids are responsible for washing their own clothes… I do sheets and towels once a week. At times, I would be helpful and toss in sports uniforms during a busy sports/homework week. My college kids are amazed at the number of young adults that do not know how to do laundry. If they had the time, they could make a profit off washing others clothes. One of my daughter’s roommates goes home every two weeks so her mom can do her laundry. My other daughter had to teach a suite mate how to clean a toilet. 🙂 Those are both life skills and needs to be learned early!
And yes, the DVR is set to record All. The. Movies for Christmas! Now I just need those jammies!
MelanieL says
Aww, the cover photo for this post made me smile really big seeing the girls in their mirror selfie, just like mom! So sweet! I am here for you getting us in the Christmas spirit today!! 🙂

That Loft sweater is darling! What a fun Friday post!! Gosh I’m SO looking forward to the book review at the end of the month – I need some cozy fall and holiday reads too, hoping for some recommendations. Cheers to an October weekend!!

Can you recommend a bible study for a beginner adult. Preferably a bible and study in one book.
Mix and Match Mama says
My favorite Bible is this one: https://www.amazon.com/Life-Application-Study-Bible-Third-ebook/dp/B07PKR871R/ref=sr_1_6?crid=UF5TUHB6E29E&keywords=life+application+study+bible&qid=1666382650&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI1LjQxIiwicXNhIjoiNS4wMyIsInFzcCI6IjQuOTkifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=life+appli%2Caps%2C146&sr=8-6
I love this because the commentary is there on each page, so it’s easy to read the scripture AND the commentary. I highly recommend The Bible Recap for you too!

Fun laundry question: How is the upstairs sliding door laundry area working for the kids? It wasn’t mentioned in the laundry update. Curious if the kids are using it or maybe it gets more use in the summer…
Take care and have a wonderful week. I have a teen girl who does all her own laundry and her twin brother who is lackluster at best in regards to his laundry!
Mix and Match Mama says
They are! It’s helped SO MUCH having two! Andrew and I even use it as well. If he is doing a load of his clothes or we’re doing sheets downstairs, I’ll take my stuff upstairs.
