You asked…
…we’re sharing!
Today, I have another Q&A with Andrew and Shay video where we sit down and answer your questions.
I always chuckle when we do this because…we’re so lame, BUT it was the most requested topic from you this year, so here we go. This one was a bit impromptu. Last Monday night, due to the weather, all of our plans were cancelled, and we had a free evening (which turned into a free week), so we made this little video.
In today’s video, we answer a lot of questions including…what we’re going to do in retirement, what’s going on with our home in Nantucket, how we have so much energy, how we argue and so much more. Hopefully, you’ll get a good laugh 😉 .
Basically, it’s two fools who don’t have the camera in the right spot (it’s so awkward) in our comfies discussing your questions.
Before I get to that though, I just wanted to say that on Saturday morning, we were told that a dear friend had passed unexpectedly. Andrew and I are both absolutely devastated for his family. Andrew is in Canada with Smith for his 13th birthday trip and trying to make it oh so special, but I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that we’re both extremely heartbroken this morning. If you could just be praying for our friend’s family right now…God knows the details…we would greatly appreciate it. Life is so freaking short. It’s just so so short.
xx

As a Christian, I noticed you mentioned the Enneagram several times. I wanted to share about the origins of it in case you’re not familiar. There’s a good article from the Gospel Coalition you should check out, link below.
The FAQs: What Christians Should Know About the Enneagram
Mix and Match Mama says
I know there are articles/websites/books/etc that like to point Enneagram away from Christianity, but there are more that connect the two (which is why so many churches have Enneagram experts come do conferences with their staff/ministers/etc). You should read about Enneagram itself and see for yourself how one/you could apply it to Christ. It’s been my most useful tool to understanding, serving, showing grace and loving others.

Girl, can I relate to the way you two deal with conflict. My husband and I have been married 33 years. For many years, he worked different shifts and there wasn’t time to schedule talks about issues in our lives, so we just always put it out there. Dealt with it and moved on. However, we had a secure foundation of live and commitment. For us it works. For others, maybe not.

I will say a prayer for your friend’s family.
I was at the Aggie basketball game on Saturday watching the half time show and realized I recognized someone you know on the big screen! 😉 They all did so great!! I was impressed.
Mix and Match Mama says
No way?! That’s so fun!!! It was a long day down and back, but she had a blast!
Marla says
Oh Shay I am so very sorry for the loss of your friend. That is so tough! His family has been added to my prayer list. Sending lots of hugs and a happy birthday to Smith .
God bless !

I think the reason everyone enjoys Shay and Andrew conversations is because all around us marriages are failing and falling apart. We have been married 23 years and there are peaks and valleys but a shared commitment to see this thing through with a foundation of being rooted in Christ. People badmouth their spouses, do not respect one another, divorce is commonplace… it’s just plain nice to see another couple who is visible (even through the platform of a blog) and likes each other, talks respectfully to one another and seem nice. Use the platform give to you and keep on sharing your positive selves.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well Sandi, thank you. This means SO MUCH!!

Loved it. But you have me laughing- “Lots of questions on Nantucket and private time” – which wasn’t answered really at all. 😂 I love you two and enjoyed your answers!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I mean…there is literally nothing to say about Nantucket yet nor ever regarding our private time. Bahaha!

Omg your comment about Kensington leaving in 41/2 years for college just opened my eyes to reality with my 8th grader hadn’t thought about it that way 🥺

I just LOVE these videos! Sorry, but you two could never be boring. You are both so funny and warm and entertaining! And I truly love the back and forth. Mine was the question about which habit you would borrow from the other and I was DYING laughing at your answers. Maybe you can give Andrew a re-do and post on stories-lol! Although I did kind of find it sweet that he admires your reading! I mean he could have said the way you fold clothes or something much more horrible…Thank you for allowing us these little insights into your adorable marriage and family.
Mix and Match Mama says
Reading? He admires my ability to read? I’m still rolling my eyes over here. Hahaha!

I love you and Andrew together. You’re so real and honest and your love for one another shines through. You are setting a wonderful example for your children on how a marriage should look and what values to look for in a partner. Thank you for sharing a little more of your lives with your readers.

Shay,
Prayers for you friend’s family and you all who are supporting them. It is just heartbreaking for anyone to have to go through it.
I was able to watch your video. You two were making me laugh. I am like you I do not like downhill skiing. I will cross country skiing any time, but not down hill. I do not like heights or looking down and seeing pieces of ski equipment as you go up the hill. LOL!! Just wait until Smith gets older the jokes he & Andrew will share and giggle at… trust me Momma of 2 teen boys. LOL!!!
Thanks for sharing all your advice. I would add to those with littles jump in there and have fun. Let them jump in those big muddy puddles with old clothes on and pitch them. Let them explore some of the things that are new to them. Oh shaving cream writing…my littles loved that. We would do that outside when it was warm and then I would hose them off. They would giggle so hard!!! LOL!!! Like you let them spend time with their grandparents. We homeschooled and we would take afternoons off to watch movies with my Dad. Geesh… I look back at that time and say I am so glad we did that, especially since he passed a year ago. Our kids remember the stuff they got to do with their gparents that kids “in” school didn’t get to do. LOL!!!
The funny thing parents look at you with older kids and go I can’t wait. I look at them and go I miss that when you were their whole world. But we all go through it, each phase is exciting…just take it in and soak it up!!!

I agree with other comments – it’s just plain nice to see a couple who gets along, respects one another and uses their platform to speak about their faith and foundation. Thanks for including us in the fun!!
Also, we are taking a trip to DC and I had written down a couple restaurants y’all liked several years ago on your trip. Looking forward to trying them!!
SS says
Leslie,
May I make a suggestion… There was a place we used that did like small group tours like a 8 person van thing… It was Fantastic!!! We did that while in DC for about 5 days. My favorite was the night tour!! You need to do a night tour because everything looks so different…

Prayers for your friend, love watching you together.

You two! You just make me smile! Your marriage and your parenting and family life are delightful to follow! I’m 72 1/2, am a big reader, still run, downhill ski, x-co ski, snowshoe, hike, bike and play golf, married for 47 1/2 yrs. We have two grown sons, both adopted as infants, a wonderful daughter-in-law and two little grandchildren. I am the youngest of 4, with 3 older brothers, all who played basketball or football in college. Your posts are such fun! Thank you!

Love the videos when y’all are together! I LOVE all your posts about Nantucket so I would love it if y’all would do before and afters of what you are doing to the house. So many people by houses that they fix up and I think we (or really me) would love to see what you bought and how you are changing it to make it the Sea Shull house of your dreams!
