Hey, hey, Thursday, friends!
(Side note, I legit typed Wednesday and then had to delete the word and retype the correct word.)
(Other side note, anyone else need a three day weekend besides me?!?!)
So, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, we bought a house on Nantucket and are in the process of remodeling it, so that we can move things in for our family and enjoy it as often as we can when we’re not “doing normal life” here in McKinney. Right now, Andrew is headed home from the island as he’s been there a few days doing “Andrew things” (i.e.: things I don’t want to do/are not equipped to do like checking on the construction progress, adding things to our storage unit, meeting with the security company as they add extra cameras, finalizing some ‘moving to the island’ details and whatnot). I’ve also seen pics of him eat some really delicious food and stroll a very quiet Main Street…so I’m uber jealous. While he does what he does best (i.e.: the specific things), I’m over here doing what I do best (i.e.: shopping online). Should you be interested in what I’ve purchased lately from Amazon for the new house, I thought I’d share.
It’s a twist on my typical AMAZON LATELY 🙂 .
This is a very random assortment of some of the items I’ve purchased, but when you’re filling a completely empty house with every single item from hand soap to a couch (and a billion things in between), you find yourself grabbing random Amazon items you love so much and adding to cart. This is clearly just the tip of the iceberg, and I promise to update you/show you more as we move along. For now though, here are some recent purchases for the new house:
I really like THIS CUTTING BOARD here for charcuteries and entertaining, so I bought another one.
COLANDER? Yes, please!
BAMBOO DRAWER ORGANIZER? Okay! I love the look of this one and think I might switch out my plastic ones here in McKinney for this one too.
We need MEASURING SPOONS, of course!
I bought ONE FOR SALT AND ANOTHER FOR PEPPER to keep by my stove.
We have THESE PILLOWS at home in both king and queen sizes for the guest bed, the kids’ bed and then as mine and Andrew’s second pillows on our bed (we also like to each have one My Pillow too). They’re really a great quality, so I bought some for us to use on Nantucket too.
Well if you follow me on Stories then you see a million videos of my dogs in THIS DOG BED (we have one upstairs and down). It’s a staple at our house! We bought two for the new house too.
I love MY ARM BAND for my phone SO MUCH that I named it MY 2ND FAVORITE AMAZON FIND EVER!! (Did you read that? E-V-E-R!) I grabbed one more to take with me!
Grabbed a new HAIR DRYER too. This one has really great reviews, so I’m excited to try it!
We bought four of THESE UNDER THE BED STORAGE CONTAINERS as well. I opened them when they arrived here, and the quality is really nice. There’s a good chance I will buy more.
You’ve heard me rave about THESE LAUNDRY BASKETS since I first purchased them in 2021. They’re so sturdy, stack so well and three come in a set. Love!
I can’t go to the beach all the time without my VERY FAVORITE BEACH BAG!! As you probably already know, this was my 6th FAVORITE AMAZON PURCHASE ever, so I bought one in blue to take to Nantucket too.
And finally, we bought a million of our favorite BEACH TOWELS 🙂 . You guys…
…you know how much we adore THESE TOWELS, so we bought more, washed them and put them in a bin to take to Massachusetts. THESE TOWELS were the #7 MOST POPULAR AMAZON ITEM ON MY BLOG IN 2022. They’re good. They’re real good. 🙂
Now don’t forget…
I have an Amazon Storefront!
Woohoo!
For those of you who have been asking, you can finally see it HERE!
I will try to keep up with it and add all of the random Amazon products I buy, use and love.
Also, don’t forget, if you’re looking for some summertime Amazon finds to wear…
…I am a big fan of THIS ROMPER…
…and then, of course, I love THIS ONE too! It comes in many other colors as well. Plus…
…and then THIS DRESS too!
Bonus today, Andrew sent me several sweet pics from Nantucket this week, so I thought I’d share a few with the group…
He grabbed lunch at Something Natural…
…always SO delish!
He stopped by the beach…
…and of course, Main Street too…
…love that guy 🙂 .
That’s it for today! I’ll see you tomorrow on GOOD FRIDAY!

Shay!! I’m so happy for you guys I know Nantucket is such a special place to your family and you’ll make great memories there!!! I also want to thank you for the encouragement you give to me and to many. As a mama of two growing boys, wife, mother, Christ-follower, and special education teacher I can feel overwhelmed and anxious sometimes. (Well, many times!). Your blog helps me feel that there is always so much to be thankful for and to celebrate!! God Bless you and yours on this Holy Thursday! ♥️
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh gosh, thank you for the kind words. You have no idea how much it means to me when busy ladies take time out of their day to spend a few minutes in my little world. I am so very thankful. xx
Tasha says
Hi Shay! Will you be renting out your Nantucket home (airbnb) when you guys are not there?
Mix and Match Mama says
We are not renting it out at all.
Andrea Hooper says
Shay, you have to buy this organizer instead. It expands to the size of your drawers and we LOVE them!! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09DVRN22J?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Mix and Match Mama says
Looking it up! Thank you, Andrea!

I can’t even imagine the logistics of moving to an island! Does Prime deliver there? I might consider shipping things directly whenever someone is going to be there! LOL Looking forward to hearing more about the move and the house!
Kerri says
Congratulations and so exciting! Welcome to Massachusetts! ACK is such a special place!
K.K. says
Oh yay! Life of Nantucket is intriguing to me, and I’m glad you’re letting us see into this part of your lives. Definitely going to see this island one of these days!
Arika says
Curious if you will be buying a second Sleep Number bed!?
Mix and Match Mama says
We did! We bought two actually. I think Andrew and I would agree that our Sleep Number bed is our best purchase to date as a couple.
Ann says
Can I ask what model of Sleep Number bed you bought for your new home? We are in the process of researching them. Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just texted Andrew and asked him (he’s outside!). When he responds, I’ll let you know. I *think* it’s the 6, but I don’t want to tell you wrong.

I love this kind of content.
I have to suggest one of our most used kitchen items is the BBQdripez board. We use it for our course preparing BBQ but I also fill it with ice and put watermelon or popsicles in all summer, use it for holding water balloons, keeps dips and stuff chilled during cocktail hour, etc. the lid makes it so easy to soak things or defrost things without taking up your sink. HIGHLY recommend!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Looking that up right now!

Thank you for posting about this! This will be a perfect Father’s Day gift for my husband who is notoriously hard to buy for!

Thanks for sharing all your finds!! So fun to follow you along on this new journey 🙂 random question for you…last week you mentioned Kensington had a sleepover with a friend. I was wondering if you have any good tips or tricks on sleepovers/ multiple-day-trips and her food allergy? Do you pack enough food for her whole sleepover so she’s not exposed to anything at the home where she travels to? My daughter has a severe food allergy, but she’s young enough where we haven’t entered the sleepover stage yet. Will take any advice or tips you have! 🙂 Have a great Easter weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
At this point, we’re super picky about sleepovers and other than grandparents/cousins, our kids are only allowed to stay over at the Slaughter’s house. This works out really well for many reasons including that Erika is a rock star and will help Ashby stay on top of her medication and administer injectable medicines plus, Erika has “gf” food for Kensington (including jars of Nutella, etc that are only gf). Whenever K goes other places that are not as amazing (church overnight camps and such), I pack all of her food. Cross contamination in situations like is just too big of a risk, so we play the “better safe than sorry” game.
Em says
Thank you so much for the reply!! So so helpful 🙂

Congratulations, so exciting!!! Where is your rug from in the bedroom that has your bin of towels?
Mix and Match Mama says
Pottery Barn but it’s an oldie
Diane says
Yiu inspired me to finally order pillows from your link. Continued prayers for our 9 year old Waco friend of the family who thought he was having a cavernous malformation resectioned at the Barrow Institute in Phoenix but surgeons realized it is a brain tumor. The family is awaiting the pathology report. So many prayers needed!

Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh! Diane, that’s just terrible. Praying right now!

I am loving all these Nantucket posts. I can’t imagine trying to fill up another house and having to buy so much stuff. I know it must be overwhelming but also fun. I look forward to getting a preview of your house and life on Nantucket. Thank you for sharing your space with us. 🙂
Robin says
Oooooo, this is so exciting!! I am definitely living vicariously through you on the Nantucket house!!
andrea in mn says
I enjoy your blog very much! Thanks for sharing and cheers to you and your family.
Odd logistics question: It sounds like your Amazon purchases are shipped to you in Texas , and then you all are transporting them to Nantucket. (verses Amazon delivery to the new home when while Andrew is there for example.) How will the scooter, amazon items, etc get transported.
And do state sales taxes play a role? (As an example, I live in MN. We do NOT have sales tax on clothes, so people may choose to shop at the Mall of America when visiting if their state taxes clothing.)
Thanks for any logistic info you are willing to share.
And Happy Easter to you all.
Mix and Match Mama says
Right now, the house is completely under construction, so there is no where to put items should they arrive on the island (much less anyone to receive them), so we’re having everything shipped here, and then we’re going to move it up at one time. It’s been very helpful as a few items have arrived damaged (like our kitchen table…it was completely damaged), so we’ve been able to put eyes on each thing and then return/exchange as necessary if it’s not right/damaged/etc. Construction is the only reason we’re not shipping directly there as that would have been much easier than having it all sent here.

So exciting!!! Can’t wait to see and hear more. I LOVE Nantucket!

Love seeing these posts about Nantucket. I too will be moving to Nantucket this summer. My husband is in the Coast Guard and will be stationed there. We are so excited to explore the island and everything it has to offer. I agree the logistics of getting household goods, cars and everything to the island can be a bit daunting but the memories you will make will make it all worth it in the end. Best of luck and I hope to meet you on ACK soon!
Mix and Match Mama says
At Brant Point?! That’s so cool! Thank YOU BOTH so much for being a family that serves!!
Keely says
I can’t wait to hear all about your Nantucket adventures! Will the house be ready in time for the summer?
Mix and Match Mama says
It will!
Samantha Harris says
I am so excited for you! This Nantucket content is so fun!!!
Kara says
So fun that you are willing to take us on this new journey!! Will your house have a pool or do you use those towels for the beach too?
Mix and Match Mama says
We will use them for both the beach and the pools we frequent this summer.
Cindy Emmel says
Hello! Great Amazon finds. Traditional beach bags in Nantucket are canvas tires from LL Bean— they’re beautiful on ACK. You may want to look into getting those!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m really into this one 🙂 .
sandi says
That is a gorgeous cutting board!
I’m super picky about towels… most other things not so much. Towels have to be thick enough to absorb water but thin enough to dry quickly. I also like to feel the quality of what is being bought which is why Amazon is a tough sell at times. I’m trusting you on this one and ordering new beach/lake towels for the family. The colors look vibrant and there is a pack with different colors so everyone can keep track of their own. Have fun setting up the new home!
Mix and Match Mama says
These are thick, they’re absorbent, they wash and dry without fading or shrinking, and they’re soft!
