I’ve had one of those weeks where I feel like I’m playing Whack-a-mole. Right when you whack something down, three other things pop up. Anyone else???
If I feel this way, I cannot even imagine how my teacher friends must feel right now!
I laugh out loud every.single.time. I see one of these!! The dog treats? Bahahahaha!
Today’s post has MAY in mind! First, I’m partnering with Nordstrom and ShopStyle and sharing some of my favorite beat the heat beauty products just in time for SUMMER…speaking of which, I have some red, white and blue things you might want to wear for those patriotic summer holidays, plus, we’ve had a lot of family stuff this week, so I have pics of that too. AND a homemade beauty video 🙂 . It’s all here!
It’s the FIRST Friday in May!!!
When Nordstrom reached out and asked me if I would like to chat about a few things this month, I immediately said, YES, SUMMER BEAUTY!
When you live in a hot and humid place like I do, you really try and streamline your summer beauty products. I don’t want them heavy, I don’t want them thick, I want them to moisturize my skin after I’ve been in the sun, and I want them refreshing.
All of these products…
…I’ve talked to you about before, but today, I’m going to gather them all up in one big pic and explain them to you again right before the season when you’re going to need them most. Plus, I have a video 😉 .
Okay, I love Kopari products. If I had to live on a deserted island with only one product, it would be their Coconut Melt. Without a doubt! This stuff does everything. It can remove even the most stubborn eye makeup, it soothes sunburns, it works as a lip balm, it’s the most moisturizing body butter to apply after a shower or bath because it’s so moisturizing without being thick. IT’S AMAZING! Now, when yours arrives, let it sit on your bathroom counter overnight before you open it because it is coconut oil, so if gets hot in transit, it will be melted. No worries though because as soon as it comes to room temp, it firms right back up!
Last summer, because I loved the Coconut Melt so much, I also bought their Coconut Crush Scrub (it’s hands down the best product I’ve ever used to exfoliate!) and the Coconut Rose Toner (I spritz it on my face every morning and often throughout the day as a pick me up). It smells so nice, and is the perfect “pick me up” each morning. It’s also not drying like so many other toners.
I mentioned the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Powder not too long ago. I don’t like to wear a lot of powder on my face because it typically feels heavy, but this one is light and gives you just enough coverage (which is nice when the humidity makes you all shiny!). I also think it really keeps my bronzer and blush in place too (instead of sliding off in the heat!). I buy it in the “medium” shade.
The other products you see? You have to watch the video below…

Easy, right?! A little beat the heat summer beauty to kick off our May from Nordstrom! So many of their products I discover by going into the store and talking to the beauty professionals behind the counters. I find them extremely knowledgeable and really helpful. I also love that I can order at home and get it shipped to me for free, and then if it doesn’t work out, I can return it. For example, look what I just ordered…
…isn’t that cute??? I ordered these wedges yesterday in this color (they also come in black!), and am hoping I love them as much as I think I do!! Steve Madden always makes the comfiest and most durable wedges, and these just screamed “Shay needs them for summer” to me 🙂 .
Speaking of things to wear in the summer, it’s just about time for all of those Red, White and Blue holidays, so I grabbed a few things that I thought you could wear to your next BBQ, backyard party, fireworks celebration, parade or whatnot…
…friends!!! THESE SHORTS!!! Okay, I don’t want to sound overly dramatic here, but I’m obsessed with these shorts! Before I get to that though, how cute is this striped tee? It comes in so many other colors (solids as well as stripes!), but this white and red just screamed “invite me to your July 4th BBQ!”.
Okay, you know how much I love those other shorts that I’ve been wearing for two years, so I was hesitant to even buy another pair, but guys, I love these shorts! I love that they’re not distressed, I love that they’re medium-waisted (so my undies don’t show when I sit down or bend over) and I love the stretch!!
One more thing you could wear to a red, white and blue event…
…this easy to wear knit shift dress! Okay, I wore this on Wednesday to Ashby’s field trip and about halfway through the day, I was like “I think Sheaffer loves this dress????”. (Guys, I should really listen to her more often because I don’t know why I didn’t buy this one last year…and I don’t know why I don’t have it in every color?!) I bought it in navy and white stripe (super nautical and summery!), but it also comes in a really pretty red too that would work for your Memorial Day weekend. You can see all of the colors HERE. Easssssssy to wear!
Speaking of Ashby’s field trip…
…that’s another favorite of mine this week!!!
We went to the Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine. If you’re local, I actually much prefer this one to the Dallas World Aquarium.
Want to hear something sweet? Kensington and Smith also went on this field trip when they were in kindergarten, but when K went, it was the very first time that I left Ashby with someone (my mom). We adopted Ashby in January of K’s kinder year, and my mom met us at the field trip and took Ashby for like two hours so I could enjoy the aquarium with my oldest girl…and now, it’s four years later and she’s the one on the field trip. It all felt so full circle!
Look at her!! Friends, the years are FLYING by!
Lately, our Saturdays and Sundays have been filled with #allthesports. I’m trying to soak up every crazy minute because I know that it too will pass…
…this last weekend, we had four baseball games. My cute little catcher there makes me smile with all of that equipment on 🙂 .
Thank you, Nixon. In between games, we had just enough time to rush over to Chick-fil-a with other baseball families and grab a quick lunch…
…when you’re the fourth child, your weekends are spent watching and waiting (and eating nuggets and fries!).
By the end of the day, we’re all dirty, sweaty and happy.
And tired. Ha!
I love every moment watching my kiddos!
Last but not least.
Anyone know what Sunday is???
It’s Cinco de Mayo!
And this year, I made a little menu 🙂 .
I have everything you need from the margarita to an appetizer, entree and dessert. See it all HERE.
That’s it for this Friday! A little beauty, a little video, a little red, white and blue plus a little family too! (And Mexican food!!)
I hope you all have a great weekend!!!
