Happy Tuesday, friends!
It’s the second edition of our TUESDAY TOURS and this week, I’m sharing OUR HOLIDAY STORAGE!
If you missed last week’s *bonus* post, I shared a TUESDAY TOUR of MY CAR! You can head HERE to check out the ins and outs of my vehicle.
Now, this series is new here in blog world, but I *think* this will just be an additional post each Tuesday afternoon and not the “main” blog post of the day. It will be a TWO-sday for us here with two lifestyle posts (and as always, a recipe too!).
Today though?
Today, I’m recovering from a very, very lovely Labor Day weekend, so I decided only to share the tour and my MEAL PLANNING TUESDAY. We had family Friday (the kids were off from school), we hosted a Saturday Labor Day party with my side of the family, after church on Sunday, we spent the day with the Slaughters swimming and hanging out at their house and then yesterday, we “got our lives together” post long weekend. Needless to say? My Tuesday feels like a Monday right now 🙂 .
Okay, as a reminder, I asked you guys what “tours” you wanted of our life (can be in McKinney, on Nantucket, big spaces, small drawers…anything you want to see either again or new content), and I made a list of your ideas (feel free to comment in today’s post to add more!).
First, I showed you MY CAR and then today, I’m taking you inside our storage unit…
…to you show you where we keep/store our fall and Christmas decorations. You asked, I’m sharing! This idea came at the perfect time as this week, I’ll be decorating for FALL and HALLOWEEN! I typically decorate on September 1st, but with the four day weekend for my kiddos, I decided to wait until later this week.
Why do we store our holiday decor in storage? You need to listen to the video! I answer your questions and show you around, so grab your #psl and settle in. It’s time for me to share our crazy with you. Clearly, Andrew and I need some sort of holiday decorating intervention. 😉
One more thing before we go today…
…congratulations DANIELLE LAVIN! You are the winner of my FAVORITE DAY GIVEAWAY! I emailed you this morning. Please email me back ASAP to claim your prize!
That wraps up our Tuesday!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow! Have the BEST day! xx

Loved the video! Makes me feel better about the amount of Christmas decorations I have 😆😆 I also loved Andrew’s comment about the Christmas tree bag 😉 a little snip it into real life banter with you two!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Always plotting my demise that one… 😉
Shelly says
Hi Shay, thanks for sharing! Where do you store your “everyday decor” when you put your holiday decor out?
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s a great question! That could be a tour in and of itself!
NancyK says
Oh Shay, Thank you so very much for the closed captions on the video! Being deaf is no fun, a silent world it is now. This video with captions made me so happy. Thank you, Thank you!! Happy decorating.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay!! I’m so happy you were able to enjoy it too!
Pamela says
Love the tours….and I love they are videos. Thank you so much
MelanieL says
OMG this was my suggestion, thank you so much! Andrew is too funny and I loved the JOY on your face at the end when you were hugging your pumpkins! 🙂 I thought of you when I was in my attic yesterday, ugh. Happy fall and happy decorating!
Dorie says
Great idea! It is difficult to move all seasonal decor through smaller attire entrances! Where do you store all of your empty bins after you decorate, especially all the Christmas bins!
Laci L Murray says
I love a storage unit but what I really need is a CART! It would make my dragging to and from so much easier!
Mix and Match Mama says
The storage unit provides them, and they’re game-changers!
Fiona Foster says
We do the same thing. I thought we were the only crazy ones. Lol!
Kristin Lyngaas says
That’s awesome! And truly I bet it’s not the easiest for Andrew to hike up those attic stairs. I have mine stored in bins on shelves in my garage which works great, but I don’t have as much as you do 😁 Those Christmas tree bags are no joke!! I got some on clearance at Kohls but didn’t end up putting the tree in it. BUT my son did use it to bring his college bedding back to home in it 🤣 it fit everything!! Shay it would probably fit two of your bodies in it 😎 Thank you Shay for the tour!

So neat! I just want to say you look so pretty Shay! Thanks for sharing your life with all of us. It’s fun to read each day and even get new ideas. 🥰
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh gosh, you are so sweet! Thank YOU thank YOU! xx

I don’t know if this would qualify as a tour but I was wondering how you save all the photos you take. Do you put them on a flash drive? Do you make books to preseve them? I don’t recall you ever saying.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have a blog post about that! https://mixandmatchmama.com/2014/01/fifty-two-shades-of-shay-organizing/
Ramona Puckett says
Loved the tour and I also benefited from the closed caption! Thank you so much! Now, I can’t wait to see how y’all decorate for the holidays ❤️
Debbie says
What I loved the most was hearing Andrews voice with a little Texas accent! 🥰 My husband would never let me pay storage fees on a unit every month for my decor so ours will just remain in the garage forever! 😂
Mix and Match Mama says
He’s been here now 20 years and definitely sounds like it 😉 .

Hi Shay, I loved seeing your holiday storage video and am LOVING the Tuesday tours! Your storage unit idea is brilliant and it’s so well organized. I was actually thinking of you this past weekend when I was decorating for fall and assuming you were decorating as well.
I’m sure you were chomping at the bit to decorate on the 1st, but you put your family first. Well done, you.
I have an excessive amount of holiday decor. So many people are minimalists these days, but I’m such a holiday decor maximalist. It brings me great joy. When the weather was cooler last week, my teenage son asked if we could decorate for fall. That request made my season-loving heart swoon.
*** please keep adding past fall content or lists, “Shay’s Ways.” We need all the fall content we can get!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you SO MUCH, Paula! I always appreciate your comments! xx
Sharon says
Can you please dedicate a Tuesday post to showing us all your beautiful oil paintings? We have seen so many in the background but never a dedicated post! Would love to see them and hear the stories behind them — I’m such a fine art junkie!
Heather Hacker says
Love the top you’re wearing in the storage unit video, can you share a link??
Mix and Match Mama says
You can find it in this post here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2023/08/sweater-weather-fall-haul/
Ashley Byars says
Hi Shay!
Can you share where you got your big Christmas yard ornaments from? I’d bet they are somewhere local to you, but we’ve been looking for some.
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
The ones for the yard? Front Gate!
Emily says
Love how you are so organized and label all your bins, so smart! If you use rubbing alcohol on all the old crossed out marker it should come right off
Mix and Match Mama says
Great tip!!!
Robin says
A year or two before I retired from teaching, I discovered that you could remove permanent marker by scribbling over it with a dry erase marker then wiping off. I don’t know how or why it works, but it is like MAGIC!
Mix and Match Mama says
My mind is blown.
TG says
During our military moves I learned
Goo Gone takes the old marker off of plastic tubs.
Sally says
Where is your cute shirt from in the storage video? I need the fall color anf perfect for summer heat still.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a great Amazon find! https://shopstyle.it/l/b0AO4
