You guys seem to be enjoying our new series MY PLATE where I share random iPhone pics of what’s literally on “my plate”.
Today, I thought I’d make it really easy and show you my go-to order when I visit Chick-fil-A because yes, sometimes this busy mama finds herself at Chick-fil-A needing a quick lunch.
As much as I love a #1, this is actually my new favorite thing because it’s super flavorful and oh so filling.
Here’s what’s…
This is what I do:
I order their Cobb Salad with Grilled Nuggets plus I order an additional 8-count of grilled nuggets and add it on top (so double the chicken ends up on my salad). In lieu of dressing, I use two of their Zesty Buffalo Sauces. I add those on, put the lid back on, give it a good shake and voila, the most delicious salad with oodles of extra protein.
And that’s on my plate 🙂 .

Nope, I don’t add the tomato topping thing that comes with it, but I leave everything else as is.

This has been my go-to too… sometimes I’ll order the spicy chicken and grilled nuggets to get the mix of cold and hot chicken. SO good!

Hey, Shay! Have you ever tried their avocado lime dressing? I love the buffalo sauce, too, but the avocado lime is great to drizzle on top of that. You only need a little… it’s delicious! 🙂

Hi! I’m a regular reader but have never commented before.
I just finished Outlive and am working on some lifestyle changes, particular protein intake. Are you doing this as well? If so, could you do a post on “what I eat in a day to get enough protein?” Lunch is my hardest meal. I’ve been doing eggs & cottage cheese for breakfast and dinner is easy with a meat + sides. Lunch so far has been Greek yogurt with lots of mix-ins and today I made a tuna salad. Anyway ideas on this would be appreciated!

Yes and yes! I will be posting more on this as protein is my biggest focus now when I eat. I aim for as much animal protein as possible (eggs, chicken, beef) as I get the most bang for my buck (loads of protein, I stay full without a lot of sugar, carbs or dairy getting in the way). I’m so happy you read Outlive!

I’m reading Outlive right now as well. But I’m bogged down in the chapters about the “four horseman”. Does it start to get easier in the next section? I was thinking of skipping ahead but am afraid to miss something important.

I think it’s a book that builds on itself but also have so much value in each section that if you feel yourself getting bogged down, skip ahead because you certainly can always go backwards.

Hi Rachel- I have also been focusing on protein for the last year and have seen great strides in my health and fitness. I can’t wait to read Shay’s post about how she’s been incorporating more protein into her meals. In the meantime, if you are an Instagram user, follow Amanda Nighbert @amandanighbertrd She is a registered dietician and has great free content focusing on getting 30-40 grams of protein per meal. Her “keep it simple” attitude is great. Secondly, follow Krista Pool @stayfitmom_krista. She does macro friendly meal prep, which are protein focused, simple to make ahead and delicious. I ordered Shay’s Chick Fil A salad for lunch today and had to “stay focused” to eat all of the protein (63 grams!!) It was delicious…the zesty buffalo was a great switch from the usual avocado lime Ranch.

I tend to order in the App at Chik-fil-a as they now have the “lightening lane” for mobile drive thru orders which is a game changer for me. Rarely a wait! Anyway, in the app, there are options to change out the nuggets for a warmed grilled fillet. It’s so good! I think the nuggets are dark thigh meat while the filet is white meat, which I prefer.
