It’s another edition of MY PLATE!
This is where I share random iPhone pics of what’s literally on “my plate”.
Here’s what’s…
Okay, this one is random but really delish! The photo was super hard to take because my bowl was so hot and steamy (as I was legit about to eat it) that the steam kept messing up the picture. Plus, it was dark outside and well, #reallife.
I’m calling this dinner my SAUSAGE & BROCCOLI WITH RICE but really, it could have other names too as it’s a medley. Want to know what else this is? EASY!!
Here’s what it is:
Step One: First, I make my SIMPLE SAUSAGE, PEPPERS & ONIONS.
Step Two: Meanwhile while that’s simmering away, I added frozen broccoli to the air fryer with just a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper for about 15 minutes.
Step Three: I heated up frozen rice (our favorite is Trader Joe’s jasmine rice).
Step Four: Assemble! Rice + Broccoli + Sausage, Peppers & Onions and dinner is done and in one yummy bowl!
That’s what’s on my plate 🙂 .

Love, love, love your content and blog! I’ve been inspired partially by you to get more serious about my health, and one of the first books I read talked about the dangers of processed meat and how meats like sausage are a group 1 carcinogen. I’m curious how you balance knowing information like that with the taste and convenience of foods that are “bad” for us?
Mix and Match Mama says
I personally think it’s all a balance. I’m trying to get most of my protein from beef, poultry and fish, but I do eat pork and sausage products as well for variety. We’re not eating turkey sausage daily, but it is a great way to get my family to eat protein on occasion.

This legit put a smile on my face because my “plate” (bowl) looked exactly the same last night. We had turkey sausage, broccoli, and rice.

Hi Shay! Looks so delicious! I love all your health content!! Wondering your thoughts on whole food plant based diet portion of the blue zones plan. I bought the 4 week plan book, and it references WFPB as the best way and includes it in the daily checklist. I see you eat a lot of animal protein, so wondering your thoughts! Thanks!

I personally feel better when I consume a lot of protein, and for me personally, eating veggies and olive oil and avocados work better for me when I’m consuming it with animal protein (that includes eggs!). I’m not on any specific diet (like the carnivore diet), I just personally feel better when my diet is mostly animal protein.
