Happy happy Friday, friends!
Right now, I’m typing these words thinking “what are we doing this weekend”? I honestly can’t come up with anything substantial which actually makes this girl pretty, pretty happy. Our kiddos are off on Monday which means this is not just any Friday, it’s the Friday of a three day weekend at the Shull’s house. That in itself is a Fave 🙂 .
Okay, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!
First up…
Awwwww! Of course, this was my favorite Fave this week! My dad and I had never been to Opening Day at Fenway, so when he asked me if I could go, I absolutely could not resist. The weather was GORGEOUS, and the atmosphere was electric. I heard the gentlemen behind me in the stands say that Opening Day was basically a government holiday in Massachusetts…which after going, I can now wholeheartedly confirm is true 🙂 .
Leading up to Opening Day, they announced that two special things were going to happen. They were going to recognize the 2004 World Series team, twenty years after their curse-breaking season, and they were going to honor the lives of Tim and Stacy Wakefield. As you can imagine, I was STOKED to see David Ortiz, Johnny Damon, Jason Varitek back at Fenway, but I was also touched to learn they were going to honor Wakefield and his wife who both died recently of cancer. Both of them.
Wakefield wasn’t just an iconic pitcher for the Red Sox, he was pretty iconic in Major League Baseball all around with his famous knuckleball. He was a pivotal part of the team’s success including their 2004, 86 year curse breaking, win.
Kensington, who has a Carl Yastrzemski jersey, kept telling me to buy one too on this trip, and when I arrived, it was a very simple decision…
…I will ALWAYS be happy this is my jersey 🙂 .
We flew in really late on Monday night and arrived at the hotel around midnight. I slept in a bit on Tuesday morning and then worked and then my dad and I walked around Boston until it was time to walk to Fenway.
My dad bought these tickets just a week before Opening Day and holy cow…
…they were AMAZING! I think these are our best seats to date!
Like any good Sox fan, I enjoyed a Fenway Frank for lunch, and then, it was time for the pre-game Opening Day ceremony to begin…
Wakefield was honored on the Green Monster as well as on all the players’ jerseys.
I thought it was such a special ceremony! The flag went from this to…
…in an instant and then…
…Tim and Stacy Wakefield’s two children walked out with the entire 2004 team walking behind them. You guys, I cried. All of those big name champions stood behind those two kids and got ZERO recognition or honor. They stood behind the kids of their late teammate and his wife and let the entire ceremony be about them and not about themselves.
They let the kids hold the 2004 World Series trophy…
…and throw out the first pitch to their dad’s longtime catcher (and Red Sox great) Jason Varitek.
It was all very, very moving and very, very beautiful.
We had THE BEST time. The Red Sox were clearly so caught up in the day themselves that they forgot they were you know, supposed to play good baseball on Opening Day, but that didn’t matter to Dad and me. (Well, that’s a lie, we were super annoyed that the Yankees got yet another game ahead of us, but I’m going to leave my negativity in my head and not spew it here for you to read.)
It’s hard to top that Fave, buuuuut I do have a few more for you today…
After Monday’s post on INTERMITTENT FASTING PART TWO, I had several of you ask me which digestive enzyme I used, so…
…here you go 🙂 . I use THIS ONE and really like it!
I *think* a supplement post is coming up, so stay tuned!
Just another friendly reminder that the Sephora Spring Savings Event is happening right now!
Right now, I would say these items right here are my TOP PICKS heading into spring and summer…
…yup, these are all items you know I love!
#1: My Fresh Sugar Hydrating Lip Balms. I do not even know how many of these I’ve gone through over the years? A million? They’re my very favorite, and I use them multiple times a day. They’re even great on cuticles too!!
#2: I have been buying this tarte Matte Eye Shadow palette for years. It just has the most perfect neutrals that blend well together and can be worn all year long. It’s timeless.
#3: Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick: My absolute favorite foundation!!! I’ve used this one exclusively for years! My shade is “light beige”.
#4: So, the first thing that gives me my daily glow is my all-time favorite self-tanner for my face. The Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops simply cannot be beat and are always a part of my skincare routine. About every five nights, I add three drops into the palm of my hand along with my nighttime moisturizer, mix them together and then apply it all over my face and neck up into my hairline. I do this religiously year around. Start with this step at night because it does take about five or six hours for the tanner to develop. The next morning, you’ll wake up with a lovely glow.
#5: My favorite scent for summer is Replica Beach Walk!! It just smells like you’re at the beach.
I gush about these products all the time because I truly do love them, buy them and wear them year after year.
I asked Kensington to share her favorite picks from Sephora and this is what she loves the most…
Here are a few more of my faves you might want to try right now…
I have mentioned this SCALP & BODY SCRUB many, many times before. It’s super refreshing (legit smells like Hawaii) and makes me feel oh so clean especially after a really sweaty workout. I apply a little to my scalp before shampooing and conditioning and then some to my body as well. Smells heavenly and makes my hair and body oh so clean.
As you know, my FAVORITE BLUSH IS NARS ORGASAM, but I also like this PILLOW TALK MATTE BEAUTY BLUSH WAND too. The texture and consistency is great for those of you who don’t love a powder blush.
This SUPERGOOP GLOW SCREEN is a rockstar in my routine. I wear this EVERY SINGLE DAY under my makeup as my “primer” and my sunscreen. I love the texture, I love how light it goes on, I love how my makeup stays put all day, of most of all, I love how I don’t get sun damage on my face. You can also buy this in MATTE which is fantastic, but the GLOW is my fave.
Just take a look inside my medicine cabinet…
…I clearly LOVE REPLICA PERFUMES!!!! It is my favorite collection of scents for all seasons. I LOVE THEM!!
The four large bottles I own are BEACH WALK and SAILING DAY (perfect for spring and summer!) and then BY THE FIREPLACE and COFFEE BREAK (perfect for fall and winter!).
Here is my suggestion right now, if you want to sample them all, you need to buy…
…the MEMORY BOX with travel-sized versions of all of their scents. This is how I got hooked on this brand. I started with this box.
Andrew and I went to dinner last night with our besties, and I wore the CUTEST SHORTS!
Aren’t they so cute?! SHORTS + TANK + WEDGES = Easy out fit for our beautiful spring weather!
Love.
I wore this little TANK DRESS to church on Sunday. These are my favorite dresses because they’re soft and oh so easy to throw on and wear anywhere. I’m wearing them with THESE SANDALS.
My favorite outfit at Disney last week was…
…my TENNIS SKIRT + MY TANK! Both come in multiple color options and are oh so comfy!
I also found THREE NAVY & WHITE TOPS for spring and summer!
Top #1:
TOP #1 + MY SHORTS (on sale!) + MY SNEAKERS (on sale)
Top #2:
TOP #2 + MY SHORTS (on sale!) + MY SNEAKERS (on sale)
Top #3:
TOP #3 + MY SHORTS (on sale!) + MY SNEAKERS (on sale)
And finally today…
…Andrew loves making Espresso Martinis and thanks to…
…the help from our favorite bartender, he’s perfected it.
You can check out his new and improved ESPRESSO MARTINI today just in time for your weekend.
That wraps up this week’s Friday Faves! I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend! I’ll see you on Monday! xx

I live up here in New England and that opening day ceremony honoring the Wakefields was one of the most touching tributes I have seen. I am glad you got to spend opening day w/ your dad. I’ve been to a couple opening days and they are amazing! Even better is a Marathon Monday game!! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I really cannot think of how it could have been improved upon. It was so beautiful.

Where do you like to stay in Boston?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve blogged about it along with other great things to do in Boston here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2019/11/all-about-boston-part-2/

No eclipse? Did you all get to see it when it was a total eclipse? We drove out of state with our kids to see it in the path of totality!
Mix and Match Mama says
We did see it! I don’t know why I didn’t even think about it, but when I was listing out my faves, it didn’t cross my mind. Our school district had all of the kids see it during the school day (so I didn’t watch it with my kiddos as they were at school), but Andrew came home from work so that we could watch it together. It was his second eclipse to see (he and my dad saw one on a mission trip many years ago), and I never really could grasp the magnitude they had described until Monday. It was really special and something I’ll always remember.
Cindy Barlinger says
Shay, your travel schedule is exhausting. How do you it, especially with four kids? You need to post about it. Do you not unpack? How do you keep the house and kids up to date and managed? How is their school work completed and if they need help who helps them? My jaw drops in awe how you find the time to have the latest clothes, jewelry, accessories, makeup for yourself, your kids wardrobe up to date, the house all in order, dogs taken care of, blog posts written, travel agency managed. And….you still find time to bible study, read a ton of books a month, workout, make the kids breakfast, lunch, dinner. I’m aware they are older now, but this travel schedule has always been intense. And I know teenage kids need help with homework, activities, sports, etc etc. let alone doc appointments for everyone, driving them to and fro because let’s face kids are busy with friends, sports, going places! Traveling isn’t easy either, packing, getting to the airport, wating there for a couple hours, plane could be delayed. Finally at destination, unpacking…then repeat anywhere from a couple days to two weeks and then you get home and all the house and children responsibilities kick in. It’s very time consuming. How do you even find time to shop that much for yourself let alone for all the kids. And now Andrew has two insurance agencies you say. Other than a cleaner do you have a personal shopper? A nanny? Gardner? Other than Andrew’s help and a teenage kid driver you mentioned ….it seems impossible it’s just the two of you handling all that responsibility. I get exhausted just following your traveling haha. Do tell your secrets for those of us in such awe.
Mix and Match Mama says
Listen, I’ve had a busy few weeks, but flight attendants and pilots do it all the time (as well as people in healthcare/firefighters/police officers who work long shifts routinely). I get to travel more than the average person, but I’m not gone all the time. The good news for me is that one, I get to take my kiddos with me a lot which is amazing and two, it’s always a season of travel and then a season at home. When I’m gone, Andrew steps up and when he’s gone, I do the same. My kiddos are older now and let’s be real, I couldn’t do my teens’ homework if I tried (thank goodness they know how to do it!). My littles don’t have homework at their elementary school, so that makes it easy. I picked them up from school on Monday and Wednesday, and the only day Andrew had to leave work to get them was Tuesday. All in all, thanks to amazing things like ordering my groceries from Walmart for delivery, it’s pretty seamless. I have a good routine (no one is surprised by that) where I keep my toiletries for travel always stocked and packed (I’ve blogged about that), so it doesn’t take a lot of effort to get myself packed. I have a great team that works for my travel agency and someone has come and cleaned my house for years now, so really, since I’m organized (we love Cozi for our family’s calendar), it’s not hard to be gone a few days. I was much harder to travel when they were younger and not in school. It’s much easier now that they’re in school, and we have a solid routine.
Cindy says
Pilots, flight attendants, police, etc do it as their full time job. Not a good analogy. You own a travel agency, a blog, and have four young kids.even if the children can do their own homework, they still have questions that come up etc. stop making it sound so seamless. Those of us who travel can attest to the fact it’s a lot of work and it’s tiring without four young kids, running a blog, running a travel agency, running two State Farm agencies, owning two homes, having the latest clothes and accessories for the entire family. Be a little more honest. You would be more relatable. Something doesn’t add up. You have more help than you would like to admit and it’s harder than you would like to admit. You put yourself out there and you’re one of the most dishonest, manic, bloggers known.
Mix and Match Mama says
Friend, I think you might need to back away from the computer. I’m sending you a lot of love today, but you’re a little worked up over something that has no value on your life. Whether you choose to believe me or not simply isn’t my business nor does it change the truth. I think it would be great for you though to give yourself a break from little space. It seems to upset you and that’s not what this platform is to do. Have a great weekend!
Kim Harned says
And I’m in tears! I’ve cried a handful of times this week watching the ceremony as well as highlights being from Mass there have been a lot! You said it perfectly those “Uncles” put their superstar selves behind those two kids! One of the most moving and classy Red Sox Opening days, you so lucky to have experienced it with your dad! Again if only they showed up to play baseball 😂❤️💙⚾️
Erika Slaughter says
I’ve never met a Ouai product I didn’t love!

Riiiiiight?!

Shay, what a lovely memory being at Fenway for opening day. I lost my dad 17 years ago tomorrow and the last thing that we watched when he was the Red Sox, so they hold a special place in my heart. I work at BU (right next to Fenway) and from the moment that I heard the flyover the tears started flowing for me.
Wake was a very special member of Red Sox Community and Boston and I thought the way they honored him was beautiful. The 2004 team was also very special so to tie it all together was amazing and I am so happy for you and your dad to share that.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow, sending YOU so much love. Thank YOU for sharing this, Michelle. xx
Christine says
Thank you for the write up on the Boston Red Sox’s opening day. It sure was an emotional day at Fenway! Have a great weekend!
K.K. says
I loved the details of that game and the way they honored their former player and family! Sounds so special, and makes me want to go to Fenway! Is there room for another Red Sox fan? 🙂
Tara says
Wakefield was a super nice guy and did so much for the community. You will never regret having that jersey. His kids are so brave too – not a dry eye in the house after watching that ceremony. I’ve only gone to opening days at Fenway when the weather is horrible and I’m regretting not going this year. Thank you for sharing your pics.
Melissa says
Going to Boston in June to see JT, and our first Red Sox game! Tell me all the things to be prepared for game day 🙂
