Happy Thursday, friends!
I had a sweet blog reader reach out this week and ask me where that post was of all my best beach gear. I started looking and looking, and I finally found it buried in another post with a different title, so today, I thought, just in time for summer vacations, I would give it its very own post in blog land 🙂 .
It’s…
Hi, we are the Shulls and we are officially…
…beach people 🙂 .
Our family is beach ready ALL THE TIME. We can be in the middle of work one minute and on our way to the beach five minutes later. We continue to finesse and hone our skills in this department too.
So, here is a comprehensive list of our favorite beach gear including a few new finds for 2024 should you be heading to the sand and sea sometime soon too!
The best BEACH BAG in the world, friends! Seriously, how many times have I blogged about? Maybe a million? The pockets, the size, the durability (we are hard on this thing), all the fun color options, and the price! It’s the BEST!
FOUR years in a row, and this is still my #1 beach bag 🙂 .
Speaking of bags…
We also really love our PICNIC BACKPACK! This thing is super light and holds everything you need for eating on the beach including little plastic plates, a little cutting board, reusable plasticware…it’s the best!
We keep our BOSE SPEAKER with our beach gear so that we can easily listen to music while we’re there. I’ve also blogged about this a million times too. It’s fabulous for both inside and out!
Need to keep your can cold? No worries, just use these YETI RAMBLER and your cans stay nice and cold even in the hot sun. We keep them in our beach bag and take them with us every time.
Speaking of Yeti…
…depending on how much food we’re taking out, we either pack snacks in our YETI BACKPACK or…
…if we’re going to be there all day/have a larger meal, we use our YETI TUNDRA COOLER. Please note how the cooler is sitting on the rack that easily goes on to the back of our car. This way, we free up all of the seats and the third row with all of our beach gear in that instead of inside the vehicle.
Now, here are a few more fun finds for the beach that we use every time we go out…
We officially have eight of these BEACH BACKPACK CHAIRS. They’re light enough that even Mades can wear one easily. I love the big pocket in the back (that’s where we put our beach towels), plus, there is a drink pocket and another pocket for your cellphone/keys/glasses/etc on the side. These babies are super sturdy too and can recline.
BEACH TOYS for the win! I’ve shared this a million times too, but THIS SET is our favorite set of beach toys.
Our favorite BEACH TOWELS 🙂 . We bought and brought with us to Nantucket about 20 of these towels. I cannot rave about them enough. The size is great, they’re soft, they don’t shed…I love them!
We have had this exact BEACH BLANKET now for four years. It’s been to Nantucket every single trip (and lives here now), Hawaii, Mexico…it’s so super amazing. When the Slaughters were here, we pulled it out every time we went to the beach. It rolls up into the smallest little pouch that’s light and easy to throw in your bag…AND IT TRULY KEEPS SAND AWAY! It’s so simple and easy to use.
I know, I know, I know. I don’t know what took us so long to buy a COLLAPSIBLE FOLDABLE WAGON, but it’s the most amazing thing EVER. It’s super easy to fold up and put in the back of my car (you can do it one handed!). It pops right open and, as you can see, I was able to load it full of stuff and pull it from the beach lot right on to the beach (including going up and down a little dune). We are going to be using this thing just about every day (including today!). I am obsessed with it. If you have a beach vacation anytime soon, I can’t recommend it enough!
I don’t have a better picture here, but THE FOLDABLE TABLE is another fabulous new beach addition this year!
Of course…
…our BEACH GRILL is a must too 🙂 .
Now, if you’re at the beach, you most certainly need…
…to grab my very favorite WATERPROOF KINDLE and read one of my 30 BEST BEACH BOOKS…and…
…listen to my SUMMER PLAYIST! I made this last year for all of us, and it’s a mix of oldies and newer songs all perfect for the pool, the beach, the backyard or the background of your next get together. You can find my SUMMER PLAYLIST HERE. I hope you enjoy it too!!
There you go…all my best beach gear in one post!
If you’re looking for other beachy content today…
…my detailed post on Nantucket BEACHES is also a very summery post too!
That’s it for this Thursday! I’ll see you guys tomorrow! xx

If you haven’t yet, you should try dock and bay towels. They’re thin and don’t hold sand which I sincerely appreciate when bringing the towels into my laundry room after a beach day. My husband would rather use a regular beach towel, but it holds the sand so much more.

So many great things for the beach! Thanks so much for sharing!!! I would love to see a post on different meals/foods y’all take to the beach AND how you pack it. I am always worried about certain items not staying cold enough or getting soggy. Would also love to know how to season the meat, etc for beach burgers. They look delicious. I hope you’re having a great day!!

Shay, have you tried the microfiber beach towels? Light weight and dry quickly!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not! I use microfiber towels for dusting/cleaning the house but never for the beach.

I live in Florida and too hate the sand that you mentioned in a previous post but enjoy the beach! I found this recently and it’s a game changer. Super soft bristles so great for feet, bags, chairs, etc. I’ve even used it on my dog! Lol. It’s the beach sandy sand brush on Amazon

Hi Shay! Question about your summer reads list, I know you are an Elin Hilderbrand fan, I have started to read her books and wanted to know if you had a recommendation about some of the best to start with?
Thanks so much!

I always suggest Blue Bistro, The Identicals and then 28 Summers as the three I think about the most often and loved.
Anne says
Have you heard of the Shibumi shade?
Mix and Match Mama says
YES! Another blog reader mentioned it, so I looked it up. Maybe we need one too?
