You guys, over 10 years ago, I shared this super simple mix and match cobbler recipe my mom shared with me. This is truly the EASIEST cobbler recipe you’ll find…it only has FIVE ingredients!
Not only is it easy though, it’s so delicious!
Growing up, my mom always demonstrated that it’s good to have cobbler ingredients in the kitchen for quick desserts, impromptu guests, bad days/cozy days/snowy days/any old day when you want a warm and yummy recipe.
I have made this more times than I could ever count over the years. It’s just EASY and always, always pleases. My mom isn’t an apple person, so she always makes hers with blackberries, peaches or cherries…but we are apple people, so we often make ours apple.
There is really nothing “healthy” about this delicious cobbler. This is one of those recipes you pull from the oven when you just need a decadent, cozy and delicious dessert.
I hope you pull out these five ingredients and enjoy a yummy cobbler no matter which way you mix and match it!

You guys, over 10 years ago, I shared this super simple mix and match cobbler recipe my mom shared with me. This is truly the EASIEST cobbler recipe you’ll find…it only has FIVE ingredients! I have made this more times than I could ever count over the years. It’s just EASY and always, always pleases. Ingredients
- 1 (21 oz) can of your favorite pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, etc) or 3 cups of your favorite frozen fruit
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup of melted butter (my mom uses 3/4 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Place your pie filling (or frozen berries) across the bottom of a lightly greased 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar and egg with a wooden spoon until crumbly. Sprinkle flour mixture down over your pie filling.
- Next, pour melted butter over everything.
- Bake about 40 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and allow to sit about five minutes before serving.
Notes
Mix and match this a million different ways! Use frozen berries or peaches instead of pie filling for a simple swap.

Hi Shay, have you made this recipe with all purpose GF flour? this looks delicious!
Mix and Match Mama says
So many times! I always use Namaste. The only thing that changes is that it doesn’t get quite as browned as a regular flour, but yes, it works so well!

There is nothing better than a cobbler pulled from the oven all bubbly and yummy! I like to make mine in my cast iron skillet my MIL gave me as a wedding shower gift… 20 years ago. Cobbler is cozy to the umpteenth degree!!

Hi Shay, have you tried this with fresh apples? Your cobbler recipes are among my ‘tried and true’-the rustic one from years ago is on repeat!
Happy fall!

I have not, but if you do, please, please let me know!

I did! And It was perfect! I just tossed 4 (I think?) peeled, sliced apples with a little cinnamon sugar and splash of lemon juice then followed your recipe. Little more work-but apples were the only fruit I had on hand!-Your Mix and match method/example strikes again! 🙂
