Happy happy final Friday Favorites of 2024! I’m partnering with Nordstrom and Collective Voice one final time this year and sharing SOME GREAT BEAUTY GIFTS along with so many CHRISTMAS-Y FAMILY THINGS including some of our FAVORITE traditions.
It’s a very full and festive post, y’all.
For the last time in 2024, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and wishing you a wonderful weekend! I will see you back here on Monday, but in the meantime…
…it’s time to get MERRY!
Let’s start with Fave #1…
If you still have a few people on your gift list, I have a few of my favorite suggestions from Nordstrom like…
…my beloved SKINNY LIGHTED MIRROR!
You guys, I use THIS MIRROR every single day…many, many times over. It’s super lightweight, you can pick it up or place it on the stand, it stays charged for a long time (and then quickly and easily plugs in and charges)…I adore it. I adore it so much that I bought it in pink in 2021 and when I accidentally dropped it on the tile floor and cracked it this year, I immediately bought it again (this time in white).
If you already have it and love it like me or if you are just looking for a smaller, travel version, they have A PORTABLE VERSION too!
For years, I’ve shared that…
…REPLICA’S BY THE FIREPLACE is my go to fall and winter scent, and right now, it’s on sale just in time for holiday gifting!
Madeley joined our church’s Mini Mega Worship team this fall which meant that she was in our annual Christmas program Sunday night. We LOVE this holiday event, so it was extra, extra fun to have her face in the crowd.
On Saturday, they had dress rehearsal, so I got a little sneak peek…
…I love this pic because I got the cute kiddos practicing and my dear friend Greg Long watching them from the back of the sanctuary. He and his wife Janna are our worship pastors, and I normally see them in “normal” life, but it was extra special to see the behind the scenes version of them too. Greg is probably the nicest human I’ve ever met, so I liked seeing him as “boss man” too.
The night of the performance…
…our girl was ready!
Awwww! The kids were all so cute!
EVERYONE did a fabulous job!! I loved every minute of it 🙂 .
Guess what we did on Wednesday night?
JAMMY COCOA CHRISTMAS!
I’ve blogged about this little tradition approximately 4 billion times…
…my dad gave it this catchy name many years ago and now, not only do we do it every single year, so many of YOU do it too! It makes my dad so happy to see all of the #jammycocoachristmas tags on IG!
I told Andrew that this year was different but one of my faves…
…please note that there is one extra set of feet in this pic at Starbucks. Yup. We’ve reached the “bring your boyfriend” era, and I love that our silly tradition was “fun enough” that she wanted to include him. Please also note that after I took the pic, I said “Smith, why did you take off your shoes?” and he said “To see if you noticed”. We are also fully in our teen boy era as well. Sigh.
We had coffee, goodies (Mades who isn’t a dessert person opted for a bacon and gouda sandwich), hopped in the car, cranked up the carols and looked at lights.
It was really SO MUCH fun!
Look at this Nordstrom beauty find…
…I love a DOUBLE ENDED EYE SHADOW BRUSH! I used one in my EVERYDAY MAKEUP FAVES VIDEO.
Take a little look…
Easy as that! My PJS ARE HERE.
Here are the exact products I used from #1 to #10…

Now for my eye shadows, I love a neutral palette! They are my favorite to buy and use. This one here…
…in UNFILTERED NEUTRALS gives me 12 great neutral shades to blend or wear alone. I also grabbed…
…MINI SIX SHADOW PAN which is on sale right now! This will be the perfect size for traveling.
I use THIS BRUSH for my bronzer every day. I’ve had it for years and years and love it so much that I bought one for Nantucket too. It makes applying bronzer really easy.
A few tops from this season to share…
…HALF ZIP WAFFLE SWEATSHIRT (available in other colors!) with MY FAVORITE JEANS (on sale!).
It’s so cozy I might wear it again today!
All the athleticwear layers…
…if I can’t sit down on the floor and wrap presents in it, I just can’t be wearing it right now. My VEST IS ON SALE (in other colors too!).
Don’t forget…
…THIS SHERPA JACKET! You guys, I did NOT expect to love this jacket as much as I do!!
I bought THIS JACKET to potentially wear over athleticwear as I come and go from workouts, but instead, I’m wearing it out and about. It’s too too cute!
Also this one…
… CABLE FLEECE JACKET! This one is uber, uber soft and cozy.
THIS JACKET also runs TTS and comes in other colors. Another great item to keep you toasty or to gift. I paired both with MY FAVORITE JEANS and BOOTIES.
One last find to remind you of…
…my COZY CHENILLE SWEATER comes in many other colors, but between the kids’ two high schools and the holidays, I need more RED in my life! This sweater is long enough to wear with leggings too!
Our neighborhood had its annual holiday party and caroling…
…and we had A BLAST!
We all stayed up way too late, drank way too much hot chocolate and sang way too many carols as we went door to door.
It was so festive and so fun and so NICE to do with our sweet neighbors!
Yes, we actually went caroling. Someone had even printed out little song books for us. Our neighbors that came to the door (who didn’t come to the party) thought we were a riot (a crazy crew for sure!).
It’s the most wonderful time of the year to sing to your neighbors 🙂 .
And finally…
…did you check out Ashby’s cocoa?!
It’s a Trader Joe’s find and guess what?
Today, I’m also sharing my ULTIMATE TRADER JOE’S CHRISTMAS POST!
Make sure you HEAD HERE for all of the festive and delicious fun!
A huge thank you to Nordstrom today for always being my go-to for everything from clothes, to beauty, shoes, tops, dresses, literally all the things I need heading into the busy holiday season! Julie says
Exactly!! 😳 And, Shay, you dropped it so casually, like we already knew!! I’ve been reading your blog everyday since Sean was the bachelor. I need some kind of notice….a lead up to it or something!!! 😂
Mix and Match Mama says
Well you know…my kids don’t like me to make a big deal out of things. Hahaha!
K.K. says
This is great!
It makes sense to not share their news, but gosh, it’s fun to follow!
Random question: out of all of your kids, who would be the most likely to blog? Or do some kind of similar work/fun?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hmmmm…I would say Kensington and Ashby are both my writers, so maybe them? Mades is most likely to have a YouTube channel. 🙂

i absolutely love madeley’s vibes. how cute is she in her outfit and her cowgirl boots. ❤️

Today is our first snow day of the year, and I’m cuddled up with my little one and reading your fun and cozy Friday post! Sending holiday cheer to you from snowy Ohio!
Mix and Match Mama says
A snow day on a Friday in December is the BEST!! Enjoy every minute!
Emily says
Boyfriend!! Wow, they really are growing up so fast. Enjoy your December weekend, Shay!
Gretchen W. says
How sad that you’re big kids don’t do anything really with y’all anymore. Does that make your momma heart sad? I know they are teenagers but that’s still so sad
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, they still do some things and that makes me happy. They’re getting older and have their own “things” which I also love. Smith was at the neighborhood party but did not want to be photographed…so sometimes, they’re there and just not featured here.
Robyn says
Love all of your traditions. I also love that your kiddos are old enough to include their friends and that they want to include them. Have a great weekend.
Erika Slaughter says
Happy FINAL Friday Favorites of the YEAR!

I love the casual hard launch that Kensington has a boyfriend! How wonderful she wanted to include him in your family traditions! I second some of the Let’s Looks suggestions earlier this week around teen rules/guideliness for dating, curfews, phones, friends, etc. Always trying to ask other parents what they are doing and as a good check-in for myself 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Monica says
I’ve been reading your blog since K was a baby and I have a baby girl of my own now (20 month old) and pregnant with my second baby! Reading that she has a BF just about freaked me out! lol HELP how do we slow down time!?
Mix and Match Mama says
I wish I knew how 🙁

My oldest daughter just got engaged so her fiancé is now on our Christmas card. So many people are texting and saying they love our new family member. My daughter said, “who knew the ticket to getting on our card was a diamond ring?”😉
Mix and Match Mama says
That is precious! Congratulations to your daughter and your family! xx
Katie Stewart says
Listen, I love your blog for so many reasons. ❤️
But lately I’m just loving seeing where all of your kids are at and the new season of life you’re in. It helps to prepare me for what’s to come with my own (ages 10, 6, 4, and one on the way). All girls and expecting a boy. 🥹
Always a little sad to see the traditional ways of the every day fade away but oh so exciting to watch these babies grow up and come into their own. Such a joy, blessing and privilege! ❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww well first of all, CONGRATULATIONS! It’s so bittersweet. The wonderful news is that each stage has been a gift, so even if I miss the little stage (and I do!), there are blessings in this one too. I hope you enjoy every minute with your new baby boy. xx

This is probably a silly question but one I struggled with when using my lighted mirror. Do you stand and do your make up and bend down to look in the mirror? I find that because I stand when doing make up that my mirror is never high enough so I stand it on a tissue box. I wish they had ones that stood higher or had adjustable stands. I was wondering what others do, thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
The base on this mirror moves so that you can tilt the mirror. I put it at an angle and then stand and look at it. I think that’s a great question! This stand is adjustable!!
Elizabeth says
How fun! I love that you just casually dropped that K has a boyfriend. I’ve been following this blog since she was so little, its hard to believe! Time please slow down. Also, I have to know. Have you been low-lighting or did you just let your hair color go all natural? It looks amazing. I love it!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s been a combination of both 🙂 .
Stacey says
As someone who attends a very traditional church, I will admit I do struggle with contemporary vibes. However most things appear to just be slight differences so it really just boils down to personal preference, or so I thought, but I was shocked in your pictures how many guys are wearing hats?! Is that normal for your church? Or was it even more relaxed [than normal] because it was just a kids’ performance? I guess to me that is a bit larger of an difference than say a band performing in place of an organ, or using chairs instead of pews. Maybe there’s more to it all than I thought?
1 Corinthians 11:7 in the Bible says, “A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God”.
Mix and Match Mama says
I think if you’ll dig into that verse (and the chapter surrounding it) a little more, you’ll see the context in which Paul is speaking to the church in Corinth. I would say that yes, it was much more casual though because it’s a Christmas musical and not Sunday morning worship. Whether a church is traditional or contemporary, I just care that they’re Biblically based.
