Happy Friday, friends!
I hope you have a cozy wintery weekend ahead of you. We have our first rowing regatta of the season this weekend, so if you’re looking for me, I’ll be by the water.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my weekly faves.
Have the BEST day!
My dad retired at the beginning of December which means he cleaned out his office (of 45+ years!) and has been slowly getting rid of things he no longer needs, saving things he really loves at home and passing out “other” items to some of us. He brought over these things this week…
…a picture of me with my fam after I finished the White Rock Marathon. He had this in his office. I mean, is my family AWESOME or is my family AWESOME?!
He also had this in his office…
…see it up there? I hung it in my gym this week…
…that is all from my first marathon. Want to know what my “favorite” thing about this stuff is though? It’s not the stuff, it’s that I have a dad who had all of this in his office because he’s ALWAYS everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Always.
I watched this new Scott Foley movie on Netflix this week, and it was super cute. It was really cheesy and oh so predictable, but I didn’t care one bit. It was light, happy, set in Italy and just sweet. If you need a little “feel good” this weekend, here you go 🙂 .
Thanks to some chilly days and cancelled plans, we have had a lot of family time this week. Family time is always a fave.
On Sunday, the little girls spent the night with my parents and both big kids were with friends which meant it was just Andrew and me. We binged some TV and made ourselves dinner (so easy for just two!). I asked him to take a selfie because one of these days, it’s just going to be “us”. This was the photo…
…bahahaha! Not the pic I had in mind, but I 100% think it represents “just us”.
Look at me…
…sitting in the backseat. Why? Because Andrew was in the passenger seat and Smith was driving.
And here we were another morning this week…Smith driving again. This kid is ALWAYS driving now. He came home from school yesterday and as soon as he crossed the threshold, he asked if he could take me for a drive.
On Tuesday…
…I took these two to Sephora. Beauty products are our love language 🙂 .
On Saturday, it was the winter formal for McKinney Boyd High. Kensington, her friends, their dates and all the parents tried to take pics outside at a local park…
…they all looked so gorgeous but the wind was insane and the temps freezing so we quickly punted and…
…came back to my house. Ashby took this photo. Didn’t she do a great job?!
Here is a little round up of things this week many of you asked me to link…
MY NIKES (I love love love this style for the comfort and the price!) KENSINGTON’S SKIRT (my skirt is Vuori but out of sock), MY TANK.
My favorite SUDOKU BOOK. I’ve purchased this one many times over. I like the size of the book, and that it’s spiral bound.
HALF ZIP PULLOVER + FLEECE LEGGINGS + SLIPPERS
My COZY SHERPA PULLOVER (comes in many other colors!).
And finally, trust me when I say that your weekend needs an OATMEAL SCOTCHIE.
Just trust me, it does. You can see the super simple recipe HERE! (Bonus, these are really easy to make gluten-free too!)
Now, please make sure you come back tomorrow because it’s the 22nd of the month which means…
…it will be BOOK CLUB on a SATURDAY! Yay! I’ll see you all back here in the morning. In the meantime, have the best day! xx

Where do you shop for teen formal and prom dresses? The girls’ dresses are beautiful. We’re on the hunt now.
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say that Lucy in the Sky and Princess Polly are Kensington’s favorite places. She also likes to get dresses on Amazon too (that’s where the yellow dress from their dinner at Disney came from).
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
Sounds like you have such a fun weekend ahead! Kensington and her friends were gorgeous at their formal! And do you buy your Minnie ears at Disney or somewhere online before you go?
MeetTheShaneyfelts
Mix and Match Mama says
I typically buy mine there or if I’m getting seasonal ones, I’ll buy them off of Etsy. Etsy has so many cute vendors!
SS says
Shay,
I feel your backseat life! Like you we had 2 back to back drivers. Lol. How are your nerves?? 😆
How cool that your dad had all that? After my Dad passed, we received some stuff (long story but to everyone out there I BEG you to make your plans known after you pass even if it’s just a piece of paper and everyone has a copy) and was surprised at some of the stuff he had.
We have seen that movie listed in Netflix, but haven’t watched it yet. We started the series Wild Cards on Amazon. It’s pretty good. I don’t know if you have watched High Potential…but it’s like that kind of like that. Jason Priestley plays the Dad. Lol.
Have a great weekend. We will probably be out sledding because our snow may start melting next week!!! Lol.
Hoping you have nice weather for your rowing!!

La Dulce Villa sounds like the feel good movie for me this weekend! Scott Foley looks absolutely adorable after all these years! Beaty products are my love language too. Have a wonderful weekend!

Yikes! Sure hope it warms up some for the regatta this weekend. I will be in Dallas next week keeping kids and will have access to NetFlixs…I can’t wait. I will put this movie on my list of things to binge with my son’s Netflix account. Any other suggestions?
Erika Slaughter says
Happy FRIDAY! Those oatmeal cookies look delish!

I love your necklaces you are wearing in your cozy sherpa picture!! Can you share links? I think the charm is from a Nantucket store if my memory is correct? I LOVE the layered look of your necklaces!!
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re from a shop on Nantucket called Love Shack. You can order them online too! Here they are: https://www.lolacompany.com/shop-lola/love-shack-nantucket
Keisha Dawson says
Family time is the absolute best time! Kensignton and her friends are just stunning! Dolce Villa was such a cute movies. I had just finished watching it when I got a Netflix alert on my phone telling that I should watch it.
Emily says
I know you like Bridget Jones Diary…there’s a new BJD movie on Peacock with original actors! I haven’t watched it yet but I thought of you when I saw it. Rated R, just FYI for the littles.
Mix and Match Mama says
I KNOW!!!!!!!!! I am so excited about this!!
Kay says
I love! the top necklace/chain in the photo of you with the pink fleece. Is that from Lola? It looks so good with your pendant!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s Lola! I love them so much 🙂 .

It was hard to get past #1 (is someone cutting onions in here?) As someone with a crap dad, I LOVE hearing about people’s awesome dads. What a treasure. I’m so glad you recognize that he is such a gift.

Mandy says
Having a kid free night is so fun, love that picture of the two of you!
Lois says
Hi Shay. You smashed it this week with positivity! Such great wellness topics. YES! Your daughter and her friends looked just splendid! If you had carried through with your Nantucket plans over the weekend, was Kensington going to join, or stay behind for the formal? SO glad you got to be part of it after all.
Bless you and your wonderful family.
Mix and Match Mama says
We were going to leave early on Sunday morning (the kids had Monday and Tuesday off from school), but all of the flights from Boston to Nantucket were cancelled that day. Boo.
Andrea Conrad says
Happy Retirement to your amazing Dad!!
Rahel says
So many great favs!
Julianna says
Ugh- I did NOT like La Dolce Villa! I just kept comparing it to Under the Tuscan Sun (which is one of my favorite movies). The plot was similar but it didn’t measure up. I would, however, love to be one of those old ladies sitting by the Italian fountain. They cracked me up!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well it was certainly NOT as good as Under the Tuscan Sun. That one is a classic!
Alison says
Your dad is a total rockstar of a father/grandfather. You and your family are so blessed!!
I’m primarily an ULTA gal but stopped in at Sephora last week because they carry Glow Recipe. Restocked my item but also grabbed something new that I think you’d love, if you haven’t already checked it out. It’s their new Watermelon Glow Dewy Flush, it’s a niacinamide brightening serum blush. It is such a cool product! I got the berry shade but it’s basically skincare and blush in one. It is the perfect “no makeup-makeup” look when you pair it with a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen. It’s been my go-to this week with the stupid cold temps and not really having any big plans out.
Mix and Match Mama says
Stop, I had that in my basket and walked around with it, but then I didn’t end up buying it. I’m going back for it now. You just confirmed the purchase!
Alison says
Ha! Well, that’s timely! 😊 I wore it to church on Sunday with my regular makeup to see how it would go over foundation. I was so impressed – it held up all day! Better than my Hourglass powder blush. I think you’ll like it!
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought it on Saturday because of you and wore it today for the first time. I LOVE IT!!
K.K. says
Gosh, I love your dad!!
And K and friends look gorgeous!!
Gale says
Wondering what year you did White Rock. It was my first ever marathon. I did it in 2004 at the age of 50.
Mix and Match Mama says
No way?! I did it when I was 25, so that was 2006.
Sharon says
Excited about the Scott Foley film! Team Noel!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s so funny because I think of him from Scandal, and I was not Team Jake…I was Team Fitz. 😉
