Happy happy Tuesday!
Today, I have two posts for you. First up here is PART THREE from our Spring Break trip to St. Thomas and St. John and then I’m also sharing A SHORTS STORY too (ie: a round up of shorts for spring and summer). Lots of warm weather happiness for your April 8th.
Speaking of warm weather, if you’re into random pictures of a lot of sunshine, beaches and people on a boat, you’re in luck.
Spoiler alert: Sometimes my family goes on “trips” which is where we go, do and see allllll the things and therefore, I have alllll the photos…and other times, we go on “vacations” which means we’re doing very little but enjoying the downtime and thus, I have very few pics to share. This Spring Break, we went on a “vacation” 🙂 .
Okay, don’t forget, you can check out OUR TIME ON ST. THOMAS and our FIRST DAY AT LOVANGO too.
Here we go…
Good morning, St. John!
Coffee, Bible time and the ocean is the perfect way to start the day.
We truly had amazing weather the entire time we were on our vacation.
Here are a few pics of Lovango on this particular morning…
…we walked up to their breakfast area, and I snapped this pic looking down on our villa. I love how it’s all nestled in there.
After breakfast, we headed down to their dock…
…for our boat!
On this particular day, we had chartered a boat to take us over to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for the day.
We were all very excited for a full boat day ahead.
On this particular boat, it took us about 90ish minutes to get from St. John over to customs in the BVI.
We went through customs (which the captain said took longer than usual because of the Spring Break crowd) and then headed for lunch at…
…Peter Island.
It was GORGEOUS!
After a very delicious lunch, we took off…
…and enjoyed a lot of ocean swimming in the beautiful BVI area…
…it was a very very FULL day. We headed back to Lovango, cleaned up, had dinner at their main restaurant and enjoyed our evening on island.
The next day, we slept in and then Andrew and I…
…hiked Lovango while the kids slowly got up and around. The island is tiny but hilly, so we enjoyed walking up and over from one end to the other (where you can see the BVI from there). Other than some goats, it was pretty much just us up and hiking…
We didn’t realize until the day before that from our little island…
…you can look right at Kenny Chesney’s house. See it way up there? I thought that was pretty cool!
The Caribbean is just so gorgeous!
We stayed by the pool all morning and enjoyed lunch…
…so so pretty.
Each afternoon, Lovango can take guests on a five minute boat ride across to St. John…
…to spend a few hours at Honeymoon Beach. There was a little snack shack with loungers you could rent and a beautiful white sandy beach…
…it was a great little place to play all day.
When we got back to Lovango…
…Ashby and Smith played football in the pool…
…and apparently, I took a few more pics of the villa…
We cleaned up for dinner and went back over to St. John…
…we are always extra hungry after a full day in the sun.
A beautiful evening to boat over to St. John…
…we had dinner reservations at Dave & Jerry’s…
…and it did not disappoint.
Two more full days of Spring Break down!
I am missing the warm and sunny weather just by revisiting these pics. Speaking of which, I’m also sharing A SHORTS STORY today too (ie: a round up of shorts for spring and summer).
Anyone else ready for SUMMER?!

What a beautiful island! When you travel internationally, how do you handle cell phones? Do you add the international day pass to 1 phone or all phones?
Caroline says
Were you not sick the entire trip with all those boat rides?!
It looks like a beautiful place!
Mix and Match Mama says
Not one time! I’m really learning how to navigate my own motion sicknesses.
Margy says
What’s your secret?!
Mix and Match Mama says
Dramamine before I go, always having a full stomach (it has to be full!), not looking at my phone/reading/looking down at all, fresh air and facing forward.

Hi!! I’m about to head out for our SB and our plan is lots of beach, pool during the day and out for dinner! I’m wondering your approach to your routine (IF) and vacation? How do you still feel good but indulge? Also! A drink by the beach, drinks with dinner – what’s your usual on vacation? Thanks!! Always learning from you!

For me, food is a big part of traveling. I want to experience everything, so I don’t worry about trying to keep up my “norm” on a trip. That being said, I feel better with at least 12 hours of digestive rest, so on this trip, I ate breakfast some days but other days, I didn’t (just based on how I felt, when I last ate, what the family was doing, etc). I certainly enjoy a drink by the pool and at dinner. It’s a trip, I’m going to enjoy it fully and then go back to normal when I’m home.

Thank you!! 🫶🏻

Your vaca looks amazing!!!! I love the Caribbean!! We went on spring break to a little island in the Bahamas called Exuma. Shay, you must look it up… it is absolutely beautiful!! I’ve been to many places and I think this is the most beautiful place I’ve ever visited!! I literally thought, ” I need to tell Shay about this gorgeous island! Her family would love it here!”
We did look at going to Lovango, but it was booked up. After stumbling upon Exuma, we absolutely feel in love with the clearest and most shallow turquoise waters of this beautiful island… we are already making plans to go back! But I definitely want to visit St John sometime!! Would you recommend St John or did you like the feel of the BVI? Thanks again for always ‘taking us with you’ as you travel! We love it!

We send lots of clients to Exuma! It always looks beautiful!! I would highly recommend St. John and the USVIs!

So, how did your stomach do on all those boat rides? You were on a lot of boats this spring break – it made my stomach turn over a bit thinking about it.
Mix and Match Mama says
I did great! The older I get, the better I’m getting at knowing how to manage (lots of food in my stomach, not looking at my phone, facing forward, etc).

The boating day looked so FUN!!!

The views from you hike are stunning!! Looks like a magical place!

Kenny Chesney’s house?! That’s amazing. I keep hoping I’d just causally run into him on vacay but that’s never happened! Ha
Sarah Geiken says
You should check out St. Barts next time you’re in the Caribbean! The most beautiful island!
Amy Rae D. says
What a fun day! The water looks so beautiful. That’s so cool that you could see Kenny Chesney’s house. He’s one of my favorite singers.

So funny that yesterday we were all worried about the school pics in front of the new door and today as we read we were all worried about your motion sickness! This community really does care about you!! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
That is the truest and sweetest statement. xx

One of the best vacations my family has ever done was chartering a catamaran around the BVIs! Every spot we went to was prettier than the last one. Highly recommend!

So for another trip, your family needs to rent a sailing yacht with a crew and do a full BVI sailing trip. We rented one over Christmas and it was just our family of 4 with 2 crew members and we had an absolutely AMAZING time over the 8 days we were there! We are huge beach nuts and hit islands multiple times a year, but this was our absolute BEST trip we’ve ever taken. The crew took care of all of the details, made all the meals, made cocktails throughout the day, pulled the water toys in and out for our college aged kids to use, etc. I think your family would be in Heaven on a trip like that!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have always wanted to do something like this!!
Kristen says
I have friends that have done this and say hands down best trip! What company or website did you use? It’s giving mini below deck vibes , lol!
Heather says
We booked through Virgin Sailing and went out on the boat called Abby Normal To. The crew was wonderful…husband and wife and around late 50’s.

The Caribbean is absolutely gorgeous. It is on my bucket list to visit one day. We have friends with a house in St. Thomas and they keep asking us to come. Our schedules have yet to line up unfortunately, but one day. I always enjoy reading about your family vacations and making a list for my family.

St John is my favorite vacation place!!! I hope you ate at Morgan’s Mango, got ice cream at scoops and went for a swim with the turtles at Maho 🙂 Trunk Bay is also an amazing beach! It is all amazing, every part of St John is beautiful
