You guys…’tis FREEZER JAM season!
Gosh, if I had to write out a list of my hobbies, making jam would be in the TOP 10 (let’s be real, probably the top 5).
I ADORE MAKING JAM!
I’ve blogged several times before about my adventures in jam and canning, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, make sure you do…
…my post titled HOW TO EASILY MAKE FREEZER JAM is where you should start 🙂 .
A few weeks ago, we were running low on strawberry jam and the strawberries were looking extra fabulous, so…
…Mades and I made a batch. My first big tip is to use the liquid Certo (and not the powder).
From start to finish, it takes about 20 minutes to make several jars of jam. THAT’S IT!
All of my kids have and do make jam with me. It’s really that easy.
Make sure you’re making jam with flavorful fruit. If your peaches are bland, your jam will be too. When I find a fruit that is extra fabulous and in season, that’s when I stock up on jam. It lasts up to one full year in the freezer…
…which is why adding the date to the lid is super important.
Easy as that…and SO VERY DELICIOUS! Once you go homemade jam, you will NOT go back!
You need to READ THIS POST HERE for all of my steps, specifics, tips and tricks. I also break down my thoughts on canning (I’ve done that as well!) and more.
May is jam season at our house. If you haven’t tried it yet, I really hope you do! It is SO easy, and I promise you, every time you pull a jar out of the freezer, you will feel so proud of yourself 🙂 .
Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy! xx

I’ve wanted to make it for a few years and finally did this year! The kids and I picked strawberries and then made a bunch of jars. Unfortunately the jam didn’t set :/ but because it’s stored in the freezer until we eat it, I think it’s still safe… it’s certainly still tasty and hasn’t gotten us sick yet? Lol!

Hi Shay, thanks for sharing! Do you use glass jars and put them in the freezer? No issues with the expanding and the jars exploding?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes, the jars are frozen. I have never had any issues with them expanding and exploding. Not a one 🙂 .

Love Freezer Jam! I’ve been making it for decades!!! My grandkids LOVE it. They call it Gigi’s Jelly! Their favorite is strawberry but I like to make Triple Berry – strawberries, raspberries & blackberries.
When we take our extended family vacation each year I bring it along, a large container for the grandsons and a large container for the granddaughters.

Yum! You need to include a hat of your jam in your giveaway! 🤪

Love freezer jam! My Nana is the freezer jam queen and has passed it down to me. I even made little jars to pass out at my daughter’s birthday party and they were a hit!
Brittany Swain says
Last year I did this and got mold on all of my jars! I can’t figure out quite what I did wrong. Any ideas?
Mix and Match Mama says
On the inside or outside? I’ve never had that happen, but my first guess is that either your jars weren’t dry enough when you filled them and/or they weren’t sealed tight enough. I don’t know?

I have always wanted to make homemade jam! Thanks for sharing!

Do you also Make Freezer Jam for your Nantucket House?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not yet, but it’s on my “to do” list. They have great plums, so that’s the variety I think I’ll start with this season.

I’ve been saying every year that I’m going to make your freezer jam. ,
Well, this story is the year. I’m going to try peach first some I live in the Peach State.
Mix and Match Mama says
Peach is historically MY FAVORITE!!! I bet yours will be extra delicious because it’s a Georgia peach!

My husband and I make freezer jam every year – mostly raspberry, strawberry and wild mountain blueberry is our absolute favorite. Of course it is the one we get the least of because we need to climb a mountain and pick the blueberries which are tiny and time consuming to pick. It is our favorite and our neighbors’ favorite so it doesn’t last long but oh so delicious.
