Happy Wednesday, friends!
From Jamaica this morning, I have two different posts for you. First up, this week’s WELLNESS WEDNESDAY is about INTERMITTENT FAST WHILE TRAVELING (so many questions about that!) and then below, I have the 2025 Edition of COASTAL SUMMER STYLE because…gosh, it makes me happy 🙂 .
When I open my Pinterest each day, my heart gets happy because I always keep my feed and boards seasonal. In the fall, I see tons of foliage and pumpkins, during the holidays season, it’s twinkle lights, garland and festive recipes, in the winter, it’s cozy, there are hearts and pink around February, green in March, Easter in April, flowers in May and over the summer, my boards are filled with…
…actual screenshot from my account, ha! It just makes me HAPPY!
So, if you need a little summer happy on this hump day, let me just remind you that ’tis the season to lean into…
…your inner coastal grandmother 🙂 .
Like I said last year, this is a very Nancy Meyers’ movie/Hamptons-y/neutral/beachy/relaxed/lovely aesthetic.
No matter what you call it, this movie right here…
…is the perfect way to enjoy it 🙂 .
If you’re like me and love adding little bits of seasonal happiness into your day, I have updated last year’s ideas with extra ones for this season. Because one can never have too many inspirational ideas now, right?!
Starting with…
I mean, yes, yes, yes! I find all of these movies relaxing and up lifting. They all include great soundtracks, beautifully decorated homes, strong female leads and friendship. Not all of these might be “coastal grandmother” by definition, but they all check the boxes for me that put me in the summery/coastal-y mood.
Book Club
Book Club 2
Father of the Bride
Father of the Bride 2
First Wives’ Club
It’s Complicated
Mamma Mia!
Something Borrowed
Something’s Gotta Give
The Intern
Under the Tuscan Sun
This list could have been crazy long, but I stopped at these. I would say that if you love any of these books, read others by the same author. Each of these authors writes great summery…kind of coastal-y…reads.
The Summer We Started Over by Nancy Thayer
The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hilderbrand
The Little Italian Hotel by Phaedra Patrick
The Magic of Sea Glass by Jenny Hale
One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
Out of the Blue by Jenny Hale
A Happier Life by Kristy Woodson Harvey
Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan
The Seaside Sisters by Pamela Kelley
“Coastal Grandmother” stations on Spotify are my go-to this time of year!. It’s the perfect background music for work, cleaning up the house, folding laundry…it’s just fabulous! As you can see, there are many, many options!
Should you want to add some coastal style to your closet, I have you covered!
Take a look…
You can see all of these items below (just tap and click to open them up)…
And then here are a few outfit ideas too…
And finally, based on all the movies and books I’ve read and things I’ve “pinned”, these are some simple ways to add a coastal style to your life right now…
1: Add fresh flowers to your kitchen counter.
2: Enjoy dinner (or any meal!) outdoors.
3: Wear white.
4: Visit a farmers market.
5: Go for a walk.
6: Work in your garden.
7: Spend time with your friends.
8: Drink rose.
9: Use a large raffia tote.
10: Read an actual newspaper.
11: Wear a hat.
12: Add pops of blue to your decor.
13: Collect (and display!) seashells.
Should you be leaning into your coastal summer vibes too, I hope you found a bit of inspiration today. I am currently reading this each morning (just a few pages a day)…
…How To Be Chic in the Summer by Fiona Ferris. This is the second summer in a row that I’ve read this, and I always find it inspiring. It’s a quick little read 🙂 .
Okay, it’s your turn to share! What do you do to add a little coastal style into your summer? There is no detail too big or small. I would LOVE a few more suggestions! Please comment and share!
Also, just a reminder that I also have this week’s WELLNESS WEDNESDAY about INTERMITTENT FAST WHILE TRAVELING today too. See you guys tomorrow! xx

This post is happy and inspiring and just made me up my comfy and summery outfit game today! 🙂
I would add drinking a morning beverage outside and cooking with local produce to the list of things that make me feel coastal summer.
Have a wonderful day!

I am apparently entering my “all the different sandals” era because I was very much enjoying clicking away on the sandals above (and let’s just say I have no shortage of sandals as it is)! 😍 So many cute ones, how cute are those beaded ones from Target?! Thanks, Shay!

Now that I am a grandmother, the Coastal Grandmother vibe is exactly what I am going for! Thanks for the inspiration! Diane Keaton is my spirit animal!

Love all the blues with beige – just makes me happy!! 🙂
Also, I really appreciate the reframe of IF to digestive rest. Why does that make it seem so much more doable?!
Mix and Match Mama says
It really does, right? I agree!
Kristin says
Thank you for this post! I wish I had it before I left Nantucket! Inspiration for rest of summer!

I have Devotions for the Beach, Devotions from the Front Porch and about to order Devotions from the Lake all by Thomas Nelson. Small hardcover books with beautiful covers.
Lisa N says
Correction: Thomas Nelson is the publisher. Beach is by Miriam Drennan and Porch is by Stacy Edwards.
Kristy says
Your Tkees sandals should totally be on this list! I might need to make my way to JCrew! I finally ordered The Road to Le Pappillon and I love Fiona Ferris books, but I haven’t read the summer one. I think I might need it too!
Mix and Match Mama says
I wore them around so much just yesterday!!

Our home is in Coastal NC so we are coastal grandmothers year round here. Furniture is all natural fibers – wood, cotton, wool, wicker. No glass or shiny metal in sight (plus you can’t keep these clean in the sea air). We entertain outside if it’s possible. Plants everywhere – inside and out. Decorate and wear colors that naturally occur in nature for the season you are in – this brings the outside in. Smile, laugh and slow down. There is nothing “coastal” about rushing around, double booking or bragging about how busy you are.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I love that last line. That is a GREAT quote.

Cobalt blues throughout with white flowers and white candles. No rush, just enjoying. I adore the shoes at Target this season…just so beachy and fun.
Deb says
I love this post, especially the coastal grandmother clothing section! I am buying the flag sweater for July 4th!
Yvonne says
Just ordered the Fiona Ferris book, sometimes the heat makes me feel anything but chic! Thanks for the rec!

My month in Europe ends tomorrow so thank you for the movie list! I need to download some for the flight back to the states. What I especially love about Europe and the coastal life verses Colorado where I live is how people dress. The ladies wear dresses and skirts(especially Europe) and the men wear more than just t-shirts. I’d say more “put together”. When we were on the islands in Croatia the coastal vibe was laid back, classy, and relaxing!
Mix and Match Mama says
What an incredible month! I love love all of the observations. I agree with them wholeheartedly 🙂 .
Lisa D says
Well I live in Colorado and I wear dresses all the time!
Rachel Kazmier says
Oh, one more coastal vibe series….The Durrels of Corfu! Europe and coastal vibes all in one!
Emily says
I learned at the age of 33 my vibe is coastal grandmother 😎 I love every single bit of this!!
