Happy Monday, friends!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
If you missed my SATURDAY BLOG POST make sure you go back and visit it…spoiler alert, there is another giveaway 🙂 .
This morning, I have a little “weekend lately” for your Monday. I was going to blog about something else…but I had so many random pics from our weekend that I decided to put them all in one post.
Here you go…

Friday morning vibes.
Yankee, Charlie and I love our morning routine 😉 .

Early mornings and late evenings in town are my absolute favorite. I have a hard time running or walking through town when I’m exercising because all I want to do is stop and take pics. Everything is just so lovely in the early hours. I especially love…

…looking at all the houses.
Friday night called for…

…sushi at Bar Yoshi. Nantucket has some WONDERFUL sushi places! If you’re a sushi fan like we are, try Bar Yoshi, Lola 41, Town, or Brotherhood of Thieves for AMAZING sushi.

Saturday morning outside with my pups.
After my quiet time and coffee, I went to the gym to lift and then came home and showered before grabbing the little girls and heading…

…to drop off Mades at Barnaby’s for an art class and then…

…Ashby and I went to the Saturday morning farmers market. This is one of my favorite traditions with sweet Ashby. We LOVE visiting the farmers market!

The stalls have everything from fresh produce and baked goods to jams, honey, jewelry, art, woven goods…it’s such a sweet little market.

I cannot believe this girl is about to be in the 7th grade. Geez, I love her!
We stopped for coffee at The Hub and she wanted to try…

…a fruit tart. Why not?!
After that, we walked over to…

…Mitchell’s to get a few more books.
While we were inside, they were hosting a book signing…

…and after meeting the sweet author and reading the back of her book, I purchased a copy too 🙂 .
We finished up our morning in town, grabbed Mades, headed home, met up with Andrew, put on our swimsuits and went off to…

…Sconset for lunch. Sconset is the far eastern side of the island, and it’s our very favorite.

I just want to bottle all of this up.

We stopped at on of our favorite sandwich shops, Claudette’s, for lunch…

…Mades and I showing you our double turkey sandwiches. Mine had a ton of horseradish mustard…hers did not 😉 .

We popped in the market and the other little shops there for a bit after lunch before heading back.

There’s the famous Claudette’s 🙂 .

Our plan had been to head to Sconset beach…but the fog rolled in, so we headed back to our neighborhood…

…which is mid-island where it wasn’t foggy and went to the pool instead.

I snapped a pic of my autographed book by the author at Mitchell’s. I’ll read it and review it for you!
Before dinner, we all stopped by…

…The Nantucket to say hi. After we spent a bit there, we went down the street for a Saturday night dinner on the water…

…at Brant Point Grill. The view here never gets old. This restaurant has the BEST location on the harbor. They have yard games out for families and while Ashby and Mades were out on the lawn…

…Ashby snapped this pic.
On Sunday morning, I was up at 5:00…

…and did an almost five mile run into town. Right this minute…

…I’m sitting out here working on this post and drinking coffee.
It’s 8:28 AM and our plan is to watch church at 10:30 and then head to the beach.
And that’s a little look at our weekend. 🙂
I love when all six of us are together all weekend. My mama heart is never more full.
Okay, don’t forget, HEAD TO SATURDAY’S POST if you missed it! Plus, per usual, I have MEAL PLANNING MONDAY for you today too!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow, friends! xx

Kim B says
So fun =-) Do you have a church you attend there or do you always watch from home? Also, is there a set routine for when you eat out? I can’t remember seeing you eat at home yet unless you’re grilling on the beach. So fun! Just curious, not criticizing!!!

Hi Shay! I’ve been reading your blog since 2014 when I was only 20 years old and in college. All of my college friends laughed at me for reading a “mom” blog when I had no kids or husband but I felt instantly drawn to you when I found you after your brother was on the Bachelor, I was hooked on your content! You have been such a bright spot in my mornings for over ten years and now I’m 30 – married with a 3 month old, 1 year old and 5 year old and your content has really encouraged me to slow down, play the game of hide and go seek or hold the baby for a nap instead of chores….I know by seeing your kids grow up, I’m going to blink and they will be grown! I felt nervous commenting but just wanted to let you know how much of an encouragement you have been to me to be a better follower of the Lord, wife, and mother. Hope you have a great day!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well goodness, THANK YOU so so much! I am just so grateful that you have spent these years with me. Truly, it means more than you know. xx
Grace says
I first read your blog around the same time. I am not sure how I found you either, but I absolutely loved all your dessert recipes, like the bars and bundt cakes. In the last five years, I have become a loyal reader. When you take time off, I will often just check the blog and read older posts to feel inspired for a more positive outlook. I get what Jordan is saying with her post!
I could feel the JOY that you were experiencing this past weekend with your family in Nantucket. Thanks for always sharing with us. Cheers!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well this brings me so much JOY! Goodness, thank you, Grace. xx
Karleigh Johnson says
Came here to say — ME TOO! Shay I started reading your blog when I was 23. I am almost 34. If I remember correctly, you guys were just starting (or sharing) the process of adopting Ashby. I remember reading and thinking that you were such an inspirational mom. I strive to celebrate every moment with my family and I try to make every day special in some way, and you help to foster and inspire me to do that. Xoxo
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh this makes my heart so full. Goodness, thank YOU, Karleigh! I am so blessed by you! xx
Elspeth Mizner says

I can’t wait to read your book review of your new book! Have you ever gone to an Elin signing at the book store? I bet the line is super long each week for her! Have a great day!

Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t gone, but I have seen the line…and it’s pretty long 🙂 .
Paula Hobbs says
Shay, your backyard is looking AMAZING!! Have the best week, everyone!!
Kathy says
What a lovely weekend! I hope to visit there one day!
Susan Jeffries says
I feel like I could live at Mitchel’s Book Store(:
Kristin says
We moved our daughter this weekend. I think your weekend wins! It sounds perfect.
Mix and Match Mama says
Moving is HARD WORK! I hope she’s loving where she is now!
Beth Knecht says
It all looks so lovely!
The quaintness of Nantucket is so charming!
Ashley R says
Love seeing normal, everyday life for the Shulls! Looks like a perfect weekend. And that SUSHI!! YUM!
Michelle says
Love your backyard pics! Your hydrangea is HUGE! Mine is in pot and not dead yet since we haven’t really had any 100+ degree days yet (in North Texas), but I know it is coming! This is the longest I have gone without most of my plants dying from the heat. LOL
Christa Liso says
That sushi looks incredible! Love seeing what a Nantucket weekend looks like.
Abby says
Me again to talk piercings! How long were you not able to wear headphones (or did you get special headphones) after you got your tragus done?
Mix and Match Mama says
I think I put my AirPods in the very next day. I’m not saying it’s the “right” thing to do, I just put one in and it didn’t bother me or mess up my piercing, so I kept wearing them. 🙂
Laci says
perfect weekend!
K.K. says
Oh so fun! I love the (not really slow, but…) slower pace it seems you all have there, mostly because of what you said about really savoring all the quality time. That’s amazing!
Stacie says
Love all of the pictures of Nantucket! Sounds like y’all had a great weekend.
Nicole says
Love this so much!! I just listened to Cynthia’s recent podcast on alcohol and I know you’re a huge fan of hers, always listen too – what’s your stand and take on alcohol? How often and when do you usually drink? And has this podcast or any others changed your outlook? Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I listened too! (I listen to EVERY one of her podcasts and even re-listen to older ones.) I found it very informational and super important. It didn’t cause me to stop drinking alcohol completely. I find that right now (of course, things could always change), having an occasional drink isn’t affecting me in a way that I feel is negative (my sleep is better than ever, my time in the gym is improving, etc). My metrics and labs are still great so right now, I indulge at certain times and don’t worry about it. I really like balance and not restriction for most things, so that’s where I am on this too.

Is Smith working again this summer?
Mix and Match Mama says
He is!
Rachel Kazmier says
Just 1/2 way through and I can’t put it down….Real Americans by Rachel Khong. Can’t wait to get to Nantucket! What’s the latest March weather like?
Mix and Match Mama says
I would not come in March. Not only is the weather really cold, foggy, rainy, windy, but everything is closed. If you haven’t been before, I would recommend coming end of June through September.
Kim Hankins says
Hello Shay! I love seeing the Nantucket content. I told me husband that we need to take a trip up there!
I live in Frisco TX. I finally bought a frame tv because I like the way yours looks in your office. Do you have a recommendation for someone who installs those tvs? We need help hiding the wires etc.
Thanks!
Kim
Mix and Match Mama says
I love my Frame TVs! Andrew installed mine. I think they’re pretty easy. I would send him your way if he weren’t here 😉 .
Elizabeth S says
Did I miss you mentioning what job Smith was doing this summer. Or did I dream that he has a job on Nantucket? I do look forward to reading your blog each morning. Thank you for bring some sunshine into our lives.
Mix and Match Mama says
Smith does work! He worked last summer and again this summer too. Thank YOU for being here with me! xx
Alisha says
I just LOVE reading about Nantucket, I too, believe I would just walk around and look at the town/houses all morning. How beautiful!
Alyssa J says
I’m curious: do you still have the outdoor shower, or was that part of the bathroom remodeling that took place during the offseason? I hope I haven’t missed a remodeling post with before and after pics.
Mix and Match Mama says
We do! We use it every day during the summer months. Our bathrooms are done, we are just waiting for one mirror to get framed (hopefully this week!), and then I will share deets!
Crystal @ www.hallaroundtexas.com says
Y’all always know how to pack in the fun!! That dinner out looked so dreamy! And how sweet are your girlies?! Looks like such a special weekend full of family time and sweet memories. 💕
Erika Slaughter says
I FINALLY hit that book reading binge I typically hit in the summer and am reading ALL THE BOOKS! Let me know how that book is and if I need to read!
Amanda says
most random question but do you guys deal with bugs on the island? namely mosquitoes? we are currently (due to rain that I cannot complain about) COVERED up with them here in Texas. Just curious.
Mix and Match Mama says
No…and it’s delightful! The mosquitoes in McKinney are dreadful.
Jenny N says
Running around your beautiful little town sounds amazing!! Much better than the hot Texas weather to run in.
Lindsey A says
I want to know who owns the sparkly golf cart in front of the Nantucket!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Lilly Pulitzer’s store. Isn’t it cute?!
Lindsey Buck says
Love the normal weekend on Nantucket post! Question – you only post photos of the younger two kids. I thought maybe your older two were off island at camp or sports training. Having two teenagers myself I was just wondering. I ask mine permission about photos before posting. Do Kensington and Smith not like being pictured on the blog? My daughter, almost 16, loves to see your photos and read your posts. Just curious about your teens! I know it’s a fine line…sharing vs privacy.
Mix and Match Mama says
I take pictures of all my kiddos, but I never post one without asking their permission. As they get older, they are all getting more private which I always respect. So, everyone is here, everyone just doesn’t want to be shared.
Deb says
I love to walk and if I am walking g in a beautiful neighborhood or on a cute street I have to stop and look at everything. But that is part of the joy of walking for me – I see and notice things I would never notice while driving.
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
Sounds like a perfect summer weekend!! 🩷
Courtney Darnell says
This sounds like such a fun weekend!! Oh how I would to visit Nantucket sometime! Looks beautiful. It sort of reminds me of Mackinac Island in Michigan.
Erin says
What a great weekend! Horseradish mustard sounds so delish!!
