Happy Monday, friends!
I hope you all had the very best weekend.
I have a little DAY IN THE LIFE to start our week.
You know the drill, I picked a random day on my calendar and documented it for you.
This time, I randomly selected Wednesday, April 22nd…spoiler alert, it wasn’t that exciting and felt very “normal”.
As I was going through and adding my little captions, I decided to add some additional blog posts that reference different points throughout my day 🙂 .
Here’s a little look…

Good morning! My alarm went off at 4:00 AM on this day, so that I could attend my early morning workout class. I got up, took out the dogs, made some coffee and settled in with my Bible time.
{KEYS TO MY PEACEFUL MORNINGS}
After that, I got dressed…

…and drove to my 5:30 hot yoga class.
Phones aren’t allowed inside the yoga studio, so I snapped this pic for you in the parking lot. Water, towel, yoga mat, check!
{10 KEYS TO GETTING ‘WORKOUT READY’}
After my very hot and sweaty class, I got back in the car…

…and turned on my favorite radio station to listen to my very favorite on air personalities. Thanks to their app, I can rewind the live show, so I always rewind it to 6:00 AM when they go on air. These three guys here are one of the HIGHLIGHTS of my day 🙂 .
It’s now 6:30 AM, and I drove to…

…my neighborhood grocery store…

…I grabbed coffee from the Starbucks inside and a few groceries for dinner. I also picked up new flowers. Andrew always brings me home flowers each week from said grocery store, but the flowers this time already looked sad. I bought a new batch to freshen things up. {HOW I SAVOR GROCERY SHOPPING}
I drove home (at this point, my two big kids are already at school…they leave really early!)…

…and proceeded to boil some eggs for my lunch later in the day as I “piddled” around my house and got Ashby and Mades up and going.

I replaced my flowers…

…much better…

…added in a load of laundry and then…

…headed up to my desk to check email/blog comments/begin my work day…

…up next, it was time to take the dogs on a walk. On this day, it was just these two as Frenchie was still sleeping and Poppy didn’t seem interested.
I walked the dogs and then…

…snapped a pic of this girl as she was heading out the door for school. Andrew took her to school on this day.
After Ashby and Andrew left…

…I went in to make my bed…

…it’s always so much better to have a made bed!
After that, I showered and got ready for the day…

…typical weekday spring uniform: GAUZE TOP + TENNIS SKIRT.
After I was dressed, it was about 8:35 and time for me…

…to take this girl to school. I didn’t put on makeup when I got dressed because I was about to head to the dermatologist.

On Wednesdays, she has tennis after school, so she tries to dress for both 🙂 .
On our way to her school…

…we listened to Mamma Mia because she is my musical theater kiddo and equally as obsessed with this movie as I am.
I dropped her off and came home…

…to do that mom thing where you take two minutes to “reset” after the kids head to school.
The house was in order, so I went up to my office for a few minutes before leaving and heading just up the street…

…for a quick chemical peel. I typically do about two chem peels a year. I like them because not only are they pretty effective, but they are super fast, have zero downtime, and they’re affordable. I walked in the dermatologist’s door at 9:45…

…and was back home eating a protein bar by 10:34.
I had some calls to make, so I…

…hopped on my walking pad while I talked (something I do every day while I work)…

…work, work, work, work until…

…I stopped for lunch at 1:00. I had those four hardboiled eggs with some kale, salt and vinegar pistachios, half an avocado, and a little of Trader Joe’s hot honey mustard dressing.

I checked on that laundry after lunch…

…then let the dogs outside…

…they’re always so happy when we go outside!
I brewed myself another…

…cup of coffee and had two pieces of the pistachio toffee from Trader Joe’s and then…

…worked the rest of the afternoon…

Around 3:45, I put on a little makeup and headed to pick up Mades and a friend from tennis (the other mom had picked them up from school and dropped them at tennis).
At 4:15, I had two girls in tow, so we headed to…

…Swig so they could get sugary concoctions to take back to my house.
Those two girls headed outside to ride bikes while…

…the two of us headed back to work.
At 5:00…

…I cleaned up my desk and shut down my office for the day.
I headed down to the kitchen…

…to whip up some meatballs for dinner…

…I made my EASY BAKED MEATBALLS but added a bit of shallot to them this time instead of basil…

…I popped those in the oven (and then when they came out, I stuck them in the slow cooker to keep them warm for everyone) and then…

…pulled that same load of laundry out of the dryer…

…and placed it on my bed to fold. Except…

…Andrew came home from work and talking to him sounded like way more fun than folding that laundry.
While we were in the kitchen, a package was delivered on my porch and when I opened it…

…it was a hat that our dear friends on Nantucket sent me because they know I love that song AND Jesus and America too 😉 . The perfect beach hat.
Meatballs in the oven, check!
All three girls home from school, check!
Andrew home, check!
Smith on his way home.
At this point, I could have A: folded that laundry or B:…

…sit on the patio with Andrew for a minute and watch the latest episode of Summer House. I went with B. Hahaha! If you’re watching Summer House this season too, then YOU UNDERSTAND.
Smith got home and…

…I popped sweet potato fries in the air fryer, broccoli in the oven and dinner was ready.
The six Shulls sat down to have dinner.
After dinner, we all cleaned up the kitchen…

…and after that, it was time to…

…shower and get ready for bed. Did I fold that laundry? Nope. I just moved it into my closet and put it away the next day. Sigh.
{BEST HAIR TOWEL + PJS}

Everyone was ready for bed…

…by 9:00, I was reading my book and watching the Dallas Stars and then fast asleep (with those two dogs).
And that’s a day in the life.
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll see you tomorrow. xx

I love a day in the life. Question: How do you keep the other half of the avocado from getting brown? I can’t figure out this puzzle!
Happy Monday.

Fun post! As a hot yoga fan for many years, I’m curious what you wear these days. My yoga uniform could use a refresh. Thanks for considering!

I almost always wear the exact same thing: black leggings, a sports bra and tank top. I love it! It’s hot, but I love love it!

Perfect post for a Monday! That hot honey dressing from TJ’s is my current obsession.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh it’s so good!
Lori Bittenbender says
Could you share more about the chemical peel? What was the strength? What benefits do you see?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve used the same aesthetician at my dermatologist’s office for years and years and years, so I don’t really ask questions. I just sit down and let her do her thing. I don’t know exactly what she’s wiping on, but I personally think my chem peels reduce sun spots and other discolorations on the surface of my skin.
Laci Murray says
I lost my dog yesterday suddenly so all the dog pics are making me smile. There is nothing like them!

If you are willing to go into a grocery store after a hot yoga class – your face must not be as red as mine and your hair must not be as sweaty of a mess as mine after. No matter what I do I look like a hot mess if it has the word exercise in it. There is also a 100% chance I will run into friends of my daughter, someone from church, someone I dated 40+ years ago. The worse I look the higher the odds are that it is someone I really don’t want to see. I wish I was one of those folks that could exercise and not look like I’m on the verge of a heart attack. Even when I was young and in great shape it was what it was.
Mix and Match Mama says
Bahahaha! This made me lol because I send a prayer to the Lord every time to please let me avoid anyone I know.
MelanieL says
LOL at the running into someone you dated 40 years ago!! I’m a red faced girl too so I fear after ANY exercise and a chem peel in the same day I would need 7-10 business days to recover! Love a DITL, have a great day everyone. 🙂
Carol says
Shay, you should do more of the A Day in the Life post. They encouraging and motivating for the day ahead. So enjoyed this post.
I also keep a batch of your Easy Baked Meatballs in my freezer for quick suppers and when I need a little extra protein. I’ve even had them on the side for lunch with a small salad.
Can Andrew share more yard and garden tips for us ladies again this year?
Have a Great week.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well thank YOU! I am so happy you enjoy the meatballs too! AND YES!!
MonicaBeth says
I just learned that as the outer petals of roses become. It so pretty you can just peel them off and they look like new!
Paula Hobbs says
This is always one of my most favorite posts! What a sweet day in the life with all of your peeps.
Mix and Match Mama says
These are the best best days 🙂
Nicole Klaver says
I love this!! Do you still take all the same supplements too? The Cymbiotika ones? Thanks!! Also, what’s your current workout routine?
Mix and Match Mama says
I need to do a supplement part 2 post. There are some that I take every single day and others that I taken many days but not all of them. The cymbiotika trio is one I do *most* days.
K.K. says
Love these posts! What a great day. It is very inspirational. I get up around the same time, but somehow don’t get quite all of that accomplished. 😉
Patty says
I have the same washer/dryer as you, but my washer really vibrates on the spin cycle. I had to place foam between it and the wall. I thought it was because I have the drawers underneath, but you do, too. Any issues with yours trying to blast off? (I don’t even use the highest spin cycle.)
Mix and Match Mama says
Not at all! I think it might be your machine???
Patty says
ugh, I was afraid of that
Kristen says
What you accomplish before 9am usually takes me a week 🙂 lol!
Amy Androff says
Shay, where do you find the peanut butter protein bars? I love the brand and never have I seen this flavor.
Enjoyed this post! I’m going to boil me
Some eggs for lunch!
Mix and Match Mama says
Target!! They’re my favorite!!!
sharon says
That is the most detailed Day in the Life I’ve ever read from anyone. Haha! I loved it!! I am going to try your meatballs this week. It sounds easier than making meat loaf.
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope you love them too!
Julie says
You seem to post good “Girl Lunch” type lunches that seem simple. Could you do a post on your most frequent, easy lunches you do?
Mix and Match Mama says
Jotting this down!! The only problem is that I don’t change it up often. I eat the same things pretty frequently.
Julie says
Yes! Your go-to’s would be great to see!
Natasha says
I noticed the Red Sox coaster on your desk wonder if you have thoughts about the manager/coach shake up. I read the news yesterday and actually thought it was a joke…
Mix and Match Mama says
Cora should have been fired last year. This was a long time coming.
Lindsay says
I love knowing you moved your laundry in a basket around the house without folding it. You are such an inspiration to all of us, but also this is SO relatable!
Joyce says
Loved this post! Your nails look beautiful . What shade is that? Great summer color.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a “dip” from my nail salon, so I don’t know? It’s just a bright pink!

FYI, I’m pretty sure that I have the same walking pad that you do. It has been recalled!! I contacted the seller on Amazon and they fully refunded my money.
Mix and Match Mama says
Really? I’ve had mine two years and haven’t had any issues. I use it daily!
Natalie says
My husband is out of town this week and he asked me if I was going to wait on him to watch this week’s Summer House. Obviously NOT. Especially not with Lindsey and Bailey on WWHL after!!
Mix and Match Mama says
OBVIOUSLY NOT. 😉
Ali Steele says
Really enjoyed this post. Makes me think to be more intentional and present throughout the everyday things. Enjoy May!!
