Happy Wednesday, friends!
My camera roll is filled with a whole lot of happiness, so I thought today, we’d do a little Life Lately.

Here’s a little bit of what we’ve been up to…
Biking is a favorite around here. Biking to the Saturday morning farmers market is an EXTRA favorite.
We dropped Mades off at an art class and then Ashby and I shopped the market and got iced coffees.
So much happiness at the farmers market…
We picked up Mades and enjoyed a bit of town. It’s always bustling on a Saturday morning…
…they bought popping boba. They love it…I don’t particularly love a Gusher in my beverage.
We biked home and then the whole fam headed out to Madaket for lunch at…
…Millie’s. Delicious!
After lunch…
…Smith had his little boat out in Madaket (he moves it around),so we headed to see it…
…we divided and conquered and Captain Smith took Mades and me out to Smith’s Point for a bit…
We had such a fun time!
We ended out at Smith’s Point which is directly across from the little island of Tuckernuck. See it right there?
We spent about an hour at Smith’s Point before heading back to the marina and meeting up with the rest of the fam.
Saturday night on Nantucket…
…always so peaceful in the evenings.
We ended the day with dinner…
…outside at Town. It was delicious and the weather was perfection.
On Sunday morning before church, I headed out for a run but…as you know, I paused many times throughout just to snap pics and capture all of the goodness…
…I just cannot get enough of all the pretty homes.
After church and lunch at home, Smith headed to work, Ashby headed out to be with friends, and Andrew, Kensington, Mades and me headed out…
…to Cisco Beach…
…one of the reasons I love this beach so much is because I love to watch all the surfers…
…and that’s a little look at life lately.

Looks so relaxing! I especially love the window box with the green curly leaves, not sure what they’re called but they look so fun!
Not sure if you’re doing Let’s Look again next year, but as I sit here with 3 boys including my rainbow baby 5-day-old, looking at your teen photos, I wonder if a Let’s Look for 2027 could be something like, “what I’d tell younger moms” or “what my younger mom self should know” (other than “babies don’t keep,” of course!). I feel like your life stage is worlds away but I know it will happen in the blink of an eye!

I don’t know how you ever leave what seems like paradise. Is everyone still in the bunk room now that the bigs are bigger or has someone migrated to the guest room? Smith’s boat looks like a blast! Is he able to leave it in the water in the harbor?

We leave with bad attitudes 😉 . The kids almost always still sleep in the bunk room, but a lot of their things have migrated downstairs and sometimes one or two will sleep there too. Smith drives the boat from marina to marina depending on the day/where he wants it to be located, but when he’s in the main harbor, he does not leave.

It’s basically a yacht, no? Hahaha! He saved up and bought it and then also handled all of the details like registering it, getting his license, etc. This kid LOVES the water.

Love these Nantucket posts! Sorry if you’ve already answered this before but what ages are best for visiting? We have a 4 and a 3 year old and I’m dying to come visit Nantucket for the first time but don’t know if they’re too young for us to fully enjoy it. Would love your input!

I think my answer is for any destination: go when YOU want to go. We aren’t guaranteed tomorrow, so if you really want to visit a place, have the time and the resources, go. Your kids will have fun wherever you are!

Thanks for always sharing the pics around the island. Between your blog and Nancy Thayer I feel like I get to “visit” Nantucket often! We leave for the Outer Banks on Saturday for our annual beach trip with old college friends and I have a Nancy book ready to go on my Kindle! Four families among three houses and now half of us have college kids ourselves! Babies don’t keep, but adult kids are pretty amazing too. ❤️

Curious How K spends her time on Nantucket? Seems like A and M have lots of friends to hang out with and smith is obviously busy w work and his hobbies but haven’t heard much about how K spends her time. And I know teen girls can be hard to keep entertained and happy!

It varies from year to year. One year, she had a ministry she loved that she was doing here, one year, she was really into art…this year, she is here a shorter amount of time, so it’s been a lot of beach days. She’s getting them all in before she has to go. Smith does SAT tutoring twice a week here (via Zoom) and she works on her college essays, so they have to do “that stuff” too.

If you ever wonder if we’re tired of seeing the pretty homes, picket fences, hydrangea(?s), & American flags… The answer is a big NO. 🙂 I love everyone of them!
ps—I set my alarm & got up early today. Yay for uninterrupted morning time!

Hello! I love that you let us in on your family’s life. Thank You! I have never been to Nantucket, but I know you said the restaurants are BUSY. Do you make reservations way in advance? Do those who live there get on a shorter list? (No judgement, I assure you.) Simply curious how you dine out and how the waits work for residents.

Making dinner reservations is like a full time job around here. We always make them in advance…typically the day they “come out”. It’s not super easy to get into these places (and sometimes, we flat out cannot).

That IS a whole lot of happiness! Question…when you ride bikes so many places do you carry locks or do you just trust no one will take them while you shop?

We all keep locks on our bikes. I don’t *think* anyone would steal them, but better safe than sorry.

Off topic, but I’m working my way through Calamity Club and looking forward to book club. I know you don’t do audio books, but I would 100 percent urge you to grab the audio and listen to at least a chapter of Meg’s narration. There are two voice actors – once voices Meg and the other Birdie and I have never experienced an audio book that is so amazingly done. I toggle back and forth between the kindle and the audio, but this one I can’t even “read” because I am so entranced. They are both amazing but Meg will steal your heart!

I love the Nantucket posts so much, especially the daily life ones! I’ve only done a day trip once & it was all just in town because I didn’t know any better. 😬 I’m itching to come back & actually see the beaches & inner parts of the island. We enjoyed Boston so much & only had a day to visit Nantucket that time.

We are looking at houses for next summer (first time visitors) and have found a couple in the area where you live. I see that you can bike to town. Is it walkable? Can you catch The Wave from there? You can do all the things! You can walk, bike or catch The Wave to town from our neighborhood. I’ve already been once today 😉 .

The homes on Nantucket are so dreamy! I wouldn’t be able to resist stopping for photos either! You’ve mentioned often how the younger girls have a lot of friends they spend time with in the summer. How about the bigs? Have they been able to find their people too?

Yes, our neighborhood has so so so many kiddos that are the younger girls’ ages. The bigs have found their people/their place here too. It has looked different for everyone, but it’s been a blessing all around.

Love the melon and prosciutto salad! This combo also works well with fresh figs. 20 years ago my husband and I had that on a date at our favorite restaurant in the city where we met. We always do a recreation with fresh figs in late summer when we can find them.

Heading back to Nantucket at the end of the month and just can’t wait! Would love to hear any run routes you’d recommend to see the pretty on. Staying at Faraway with our 15, 13 & 10 year old kiddos so I have truly appreciated your posts this year!

Awwww, we love Faraway! There are so many neighborhoods right around the hotel there in town. Head up Easton street or Main and you cannot miss all the goodness.
