It was a Stevie Wonder night on DWTS this week! And to honer such an occasion, I thought I’d share my Wonder-ful Things! These are things I’m in love with right now…they’re Wonder-ful!
(Sorry…but when you give me the name Wonder for this week’s post…I’m going to totally over-use it…brace yourself!)
And yes, the most Wonder-ful thing of all is that Sean wasn’t eliminated…we’ll get to that…but first…
Sheaffer has mentioned these wedges here, here and here on her blog recently. This…
…is an actual picture of my feet that Sheaffer took as we shopped for them at Nordstrom last week.
She called me and said that these were the most comfortable wedges ever made. Period. I must buy them. That day. Hurry.
Being the wedge expert that I am…I was a little skeptical. I know wedges. Wedge Queen is my name. That being said…
…she was EXACTLY RIGHT! These wedges are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I bought them in two colors (taupe and black). Thanks to the Wonder-ful Sheaffer for being on the lookout for the most perfect wedge of all time.
These are J Crew’s 3″ Chino Shorts. In my opinion, they’re are the best shorts money can buy. I’m going to confess something to you…please no hate mail. I realize what I’m about to say is excessive…but I want to be truthful and honest (and really emphasize how I think they are the best shorts). I counted…and within the last two seasons, I have purchased 11 pair. (Again, no hate mail. I understand that is excessive. But I wear them every.single.day.) If you need a new pair of shorts (or 11 pairs), you should check them out. Like today.
And bonus!
And if you know J Crew (which I do), they don’t have sales that often…so when they do, you should stock up.
And finally, my Wonder-ful yellow scarf always gets complimented. It’s light and bright and perfect for spring and summer. And…
…is 30% off your online purchase. Even more Wonder-ful, right?!
Ok…so, I had a lot to say about Monday night’s show…and then Sean was in the bottom two on Tuesday and I forgot everything. I’m just thrilled he didn’t get kicked off!
The reason I think Sean was in the bottom two…because the wardrobe people sent him out to dance in old man pjs. I seriously remember my Granddaddy wearing a pair of pajamas that looked exactly like that when I was younger. Even Kensington (who is only four!) said, “Whoa. What is he wearing?”.
I thought Ali looked fabulous on Monday’s show. It was my favorite Ali performance.
At first, I thought I missed Kellie’s beautiful long hair, but after seeing her with the wig on Monday night, I realized that I actually prefer her cute little cut. (Not dancing related…but a general observation I had.)
I absolutely adore me some Andy Dick…but it’s time for him to go. Who would have ever thought he would have made it 7 episodes?
Zendaya’s long fingernails really annoy me. Just something I’ve been thinking about for the last 6 weeks…she’s such a cute girl…but those nails are not my favorite (cue hate mail from long nail loving people).
My favorite part of the night? The two group dances! I really liked both of them and actually thought they deserved higher scores then they received.
Ok…he survived another week (barely!). It was a Wonder-ful week!
Dinner tonight is a no-brainer! It’s a Chicken Caprese Pizza you can whip up in minutes.
And today is the last day for my Stella & Dot party! Shop now while you still can!
And for even more DWTS…you must check out DWTS Told Me To! Sheaffer doesn’t just know how to pick out the perfect wedge…she knows her DWTS too!

Old man pjs? Laughing SO hard!
Kelly Jo says
I've been looking for the wedge in aqua that I saw in one of Sheaffer's posts, but I can't find it anywhere! 🙁 Might have to order some shorts instead!
Meagan @ The Clanahan Fam says
I am a firm believer that if an article of clothing works, you should buy it in every color you think you might need/want. Totally agree with you on those shorts – I don't have 11, but maybe 6 or 7 pair? Fave is the kelly green color. No haters here!
Cheryl says
yes…..I have been waiting for someone, someplace to mention Zendaya's nails……they have been driving me nuts since the very first night!!!!!….thanks for letting me know it wasn't just me!!!!
Lauren says
Oh my gosh, so I'm not the only one?!?!?!?! Those long nails annoy the fire out of me!!!!!! For realz! They're horrid!!!!!
Anonymous says
I totally agree with you about Zendaya's longs nails. I am so glad I am not the only one that doesn't like them. Okay, you and Sheaffer have convinced me, I am going to have to order a pair of those wedeges. They are super cute!
Carrie in Wisconsin says
I agree, the nails are too much, especially for a 16 year old. Did love the color on Sean!
Alice says
Do you get a lot of hate mail? I was just curious since you say "cue the hate mail" in your posts these days. LOL!
I wish I had enough money to buy 11 pairs. Haha! What colors did you buy?
Mix and Match Mama says
I can't say the least bit negative thing (like how I don't care for long fingernails) without getting hateful comments and/or emails. There are a lot of bitter people in this world!
Aubs says
You & Sheaffer just about have me sold on those wedges! (now i just have to convince hubby! ha!) LOVE Kensington ~ "whoa. what is he wearing" had me cracking up!! and OMGoodness Zendaya's nails drive me crazy!!! When they show their rehearsal bits i can't focus on anything else! Glad to know it isn't just me! =)
Elaine~ Honey Pie Accessories says
Totally agree with you about Kelly's hair! What is up with the wigs?
Suzanne @ Mixing It Up says
I am SO buying the taupe wedges online today!! I have been looking for the perfect pair but wanted them to be comfy. As for the J Crew shorts, they are wonderful. Many times they go on sale for $29.99 so that is when I stock up!!
Kelly says
love this! I have 6 colors of the shorts and am eying the mint and shocking pink! really enjoy your blog! thanks for doing it, I can only imagine the amount of energy you put into it!
Jaren says
Cute shorts and wedges! Pretty soon my husband is going to tell me to stop reading your blog because I'm spending too much money, but the stuff you and Sheaffer post is just too darn cute!
Go Sean!
Kelsey says
The J Crew shorts do look like the perfect shorts! I am wondering if they typically run small or big. Thanks!
Randi Jo :) says
I feel bad for the amount of negative feedback you must endure 🙁
I still have yet to find a pair of shorts this year that I like. It either leaves too much space in my waist area because my waist is so much thinner than my hips. Or it's saggy saggy saggy in the back.
I tell ya – my body type just isn't made for any normal clothes apparently lol.
I do have some shorts from decades ago that still work…. ok not decades, a few years. but they clearly are not current lol.
where do you store your shorts?
hope ur having a great week!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say the shorts run a little small (not too much but a little). And I hang mine in my closet (I don't like folding my clothes…weird, I know!).
aprilparrish says
I think it's perfectly normal that you have 11 pair!!!! My favorite shorts are old navy and when they come out in early spring I buy every color even if I already have that color already!! Like you- when the weather turns warm; that's what I wear most days!!!!
Now to SEAN- I just don't like the way they portray him always taking his shirt off. It's nice don't get me wrong, but he is capable of performing with clothes on!!!!! Just my thoughts!!!!
The Tomlinsons says
Wow! If you really get hate mail over silly stuff like that, people need to find something better to do with their time. Yeah, I feel like they've put Sean in some hokey stuff. He's been a good sport about it, and if he wasn't he'd get called a Diva, so it's a lose-lose. I was so glad he didn't get cut. Haven't watched the episodes the last few weeks, just reading up and watching the dances on youtube. Hopefully I will get them downloaded so I can see these old man pajamas for myself.
Kathy Olson says
Hi! Can you walk easily in those wedges? They are so cute, but I've never done well in taller heels.
Mix and Match Mama says
I walk in heels and wedges all the time…and these are so easy to walk in!
Anonymous says
You and Schaeffer almost have me convinced on the wedges. But I'm not much of a wedge wearer. I wear heels all day long and love them….but wedges intimidate me. I'm afraid I'm gonna fall with my clumsy self because they are thinner in the back. Advice? Because I'm really sorta falling in love with them as something different for my feet!!
Narci D says
I am intrigued by the shorts! Finding the perfect short is no easy feat! 🙂
C says
Those shorts are cute! And when you find something you love and wear every day, 11 pairs is honestly not that excessive if you can afford it and surely you haven't bought them all in one go!:). Ridiculous that people would get so worked up over someone else buying shorts, wow. I would be mad if it happened to me but I'll be honest I am cracking up at the thought of someone feeling so strongly about your shorts that they would email you about it — hope it doesn't happen:)
Jenna {Real Simple Girl} says
I don't know what I've been waiting for, but I really need to buy some of those shorts! I think there are just too many fun colors to choose from, which is probably what's been holding me back! 😉

Love your blogs! Have your parents gone to most of the tapings? I've seen your mom a few times, but they mainly show Catherine. What great support Sean has – that is hard with it being on two week days.
Emily @ LaForce Be With You says
Hi Shay! Thanks for the shorts recommendation! Do you know if the ones sold on the jcrew factory website the same? They are slightly cheaper ($27) and have some different colors but are both called 3" chino shorts.
What colors would you say you have that you get the most use out of that go with a lot of tops?
I wish jcrew had reviews so I could read through those but it seems you are the expert in this item haha. Sorry for so many questions!
Mix and Match Mama says
The J Crew Factory shorts ARE NOT the same. The material is lighter and thinner…I do own one pair from Factory and they're nice too but they're not the same. They also shrink a little in the length after the first wash (where the ones from J Crew do not).
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
I've got to catch up on my DVR!!! But totally agree on the nails…those have bugged me for weeks. What is she, a 60-yr-old woman from Jersey? #tacky
Meredith Broussard says
I agree, J.Crew 3" Chinos are the bomb! I only like the ones from the retail store, not the outlet. They fit my athletic thunder thighs without making me look like a hooch, which is a reason in itself to buy them. No hate mail here, just plain jealousy (that you own 11 pairs)!
Randi Jo :) says
@ Meredith B… your comment might have sold me on those shorts!! So they actually are good for athletic thighs!?!?!?!
Anonymous says
Ya know, for some reason I have a hard time walking in taller shoes. However, these shoes are so cute that I am going to look (today) and try to find some really similar but a tad shorter. Also, about the nails, my question is …. where is your Mother?? When I was 16, my Mom would of made sure I cut the nails. Love to watch her dance but REALLY???
Karen from Texarkana
Suzanne Riley says
My daughter would be ADORABLE in this precious clothes!!
Tracy says
The nails! I love your blog and read it often but usually get sidetracked and don't comment. I just had to about Zendaya's nails. They have been bugging me out since the start of DWTS. I thought maybe it was the shape (they are just too thin and pointy) but maybe it is the length. Whatever it is every time my daughters watch Shake It Up on Disney now I catch myself staring at her nails. I'm just happy to hear I'm not the only one that gets fixated on little details like nails.

Hi Shay, I stumbled upon your blog recently and I LOVE your outlook on life and the like. Funny enough we used to live in Frisco until we moved back to my hubbies home town in Indiana 3 years ago, but seeing what you talk about in the area makes me miss all the good shopping I had. Anywho, I too am a wedge lover and given some foot problems I've had I'm always looking for comfortable ones that are cute and don't hurt my foot too bad. I was a bit skeptical about the Callisto ones, until they arrived, holy cow they are so lightweight! I really wanted the turquoise ones, but they were out of my size, boo, so I settled on the equally bright yellow 🙂 I also 2nd your love of J. Crew shorts, I don't have 11 pairs, but at least 5 and they are my summer staple!
