This Fabulous Friday (and isn’t it just fabulous?!?!) is all about things I love from the grocery store/drug store. Plus, some cute pics I’ve taken this week of my kiddos as well :).
During the summer, I have to be really careful with my processed blonde hair (yes, shocking I know but my hair really isn’t that blonde…it’s more of a light brown/dark blonde color). Since I expose my hair to chlorine almost every day, I have to protect it or it will turn a little green (seriously!)…so, before I head out to the pool, I always put a big dollop of this conditioner on my dry hair, pin it up and go. Any conditioner will work to protect your hair but I just loooooove the way this one smells! The conditioner helps block out the chlorine and keep the hair hydrated while out in the sun. It’s a really great trick!
I went in the play room and they were sharing a chair watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame together. I love these two :).
If there is a mosquito within 20 miles of me, it will find me and bite me. And I just loathe mosquito bites! This time of year, I keep bottles of this bug spray stashed in my car, my pool bag, my garage and by my back door. I have found that this bug spray is the best for me! I’ve told several people that this is my favorite brand and they always agree that it works well for them too.
When I did my nail polish post a few weeks ago, I had several people suggest I try Essie’s First Base Coat…so, I did and it is fabulous! I really think it’s keeping my polish looking better longer. A total score!
Smith and I entertaining ourselves at the doctor’s office last Friday. He loves a good selfie ;).
Last summer when Clinique launched their Chubby Sticks, I ran out and bought one. They were supposed to have been the best thing Clinque had done since their face wash…but I was really disappointed For $16, I really had higher expectations. Then this spring, Cover Girl launched their new Jumbo Gloss Balm for a fraction of the price and you know what? I love it! They did what Clinque failed to do…at a much cheaper price! It goes on smooth like a chapstick but has great color that lasts. It’s also really easy to apply, so you don’t even need a mirror. This is a total drug store score!
Buy this ice cream. Buy it today. Buy two of them. Then send me a thank you note. This is hands down the best ice cream I have ever eaten. Andrew doesn’t even like lemon and he thought it was delicious. I served it the other day with Bree’s Easy Fruit Crisp and the combination was out of this world. Trust me. Buy it. Now.
I drink a lot of water each day. A lot. And I always squirt a little flavor in there. Well…I hadn’t tried the Blueberry Lemonade Mio until the other day when Sheaffer pulled it out of her purse at a restaurant (because that’s how we roll) and put some in my water. It is sooooooo good! It’s my new favorite flavor for my water!
And finally…I went into my bathroom the other day and found Kensington playing in my makeup (a big no-no!) but then I noticed what she was doing. She was giving herself a smoky eye…impressive, right? Considering she’s 4, I think she did a great job at the smoky eye! Maybe she’s a future makeup artist?

I am laughing soooooooooooooooooooo hard over here! "But then I noticed what she was doing……she was giving herself a smokey eye." Oh my gosh, laughing SO hard! That is impressive Miss K. And how have I never heard you talk about this bug spray? Buying it today…and the essie base coat…and the chapstick/lipstick combo that I now HAVE TO HAVE.

I wash the conditioner out that night when I shower…it doesn't look fabulous in my hair but I don't really care since I'm just at the pool. However, it really keeps my hair from getting dry and damaged and keeps it from turning green too.

I'm with Sheaffer… the "smokey eye" made me laugh! Too cute!

Oh my gosh! Thank you for the heads up about the Mio drops! I've been loving Maine Root's blueberry soda but not the calorie count. Never even occurred to me to take it to restaurants with me. Good bye $2 glass of I iced tea.

Yes! Canada can participate in most of my giveaways!

Shay, I also use any cheap-o conditioner at the pool on me and my girls. When they take a break to swim I run some in our hair and then when we are all done swimming. I can't stand pool hair!

I bought the Lemon ice cream after you posted it on Instagram last week and that stuff is no joke! I was going to try to make it last all week, but the tiny tub didn't even make it two days in my house. Seriously too good!

I wish I would have seen this list before my Target trip yesterday. Oh well, looks like I have to go again today! 🙂
My hair turns green too. Like little green highlights. It hasn't happened since I was a kid (and maybe once in college!) but this is a great idea so I don't have to worry about keeping my head above water.

Totaly with ya on the green hair mess. I remember when I was a kod, my mom would make me get out amd wash my hair right away! I love the entire organix collection… I need to put some of that in my hair next time, and see if that helps!
Do you use a leave in conditioner? Sun damage/dryness is something my poor hair has a on going summer battle with!
Im glad you mentioned the lip gloss/chapstick… Ive wondered how well that would apply. Must get some now!
Great post Shay!

Two things I really like about this post….
1) that you're the type of girl who will get her hair wet in the pool
2) your neon stripe tee. details please!

Shay, I love your blog so much! I'm totally not a stalker but I WILL be buying everything you recommended today! 🙂

Love the conditioner in the hair idea! I'll definitely try that! And that photo of Kensington is darling!

I love, love that ice cream, I ate a whole pint by myself in 2 days (oops). I am definitely trying that lip gloss, I am a big lip gloss girl 🙂 Thanks!

The new Clinique chuby sticks for this year are awesome. Maybe they changed them up for this year. I bought one and LOVE it. Color lasts all day, leaves my lips soft and it is automatic – you don't have to sharpen. I bought the last one in my color. Bonus – you can line your lips with them so it doubles as a lip-liner! 🙂
Jenna {Real Simple Girl} says
I just love these Fabulous Friday posts! I already bought the blueberry lemon Mio today and love it!! And when I'm at the store this weekend I'm going to try the lemon ice cream, too! I also plan to pick up some of that conditioner for when I'm at the pool, and I want one of those Cover Girl Gloss Balms! I need it all!! 🙂
Heather says
Trick for the green hair… Tomato juice. It is your sweet blond hair that absorbs the chlorine and for some reason washing with a half cup of tomato juice pulls the green out. Your blond hair will tha you if your conditioner ever fails you.

Hi Shay, I've been following your blog for sometime now, but have never commented. I too, love your "favorites" posts. I immediately went to the store and got the Lemon Bliss ice cream. They only had it in the half gallon…oh well. IT IS SO YUMMY!!! I love lemon and this was a delicious, refreshing treat. I also can't wait to try the Cover Girl gloss! Thanks and have a great weekend! ~Stephanie

We are a big fan of the bull frog bug spray at this house! It is wonderful! And I will be trying the Cover Girl gloss immediately! Do you allow people to post a link to your blog on their blog? I would like to have one on my page but was wondering how to! Thank you so much! -Carrington
Danelle says
Where do you buy the bullfrog mosquito spray? I checked at Walmart & Target today, & all I could find was a mosquito spray/sunscreen combo at Walmart.
