4. Keep something yourself to remember the party by. For me, I have a sign made for each one of my kids’ birthdays. After their party, I take the sign off the stake and hang it in their room. You could also frame their invitations, frame a picture from the party…just something to keep out to help you remember the celebration.
You could recreate this party in any color! This party would also be good for kids or adults. I mean really, Mandy (mom of three boys) totally rocked this boy party in such a sophisticated way!

I love your themes as well as the idea of having a sign made and hanging the sign up after the party. We will be celebrating my son's first birthday next month and we are doing a safari/jungle theme. Who made the signs for you?

Um. Not sure why you didn't include me on your links to awesome parties. I mean, seriously. I AM THE MASTER. 🙂 (My poor kid.) 🙂
Now, I've never been to one of your kid's parties (since I'm not family), but I can vouch for your Christmas parties. BEST. FAVORS. EVER.

The lady that makes my signs doesn't make them for the public (just as a favor for me since we're friends). I'm sure you can find people on Etsy that can recreate them for you!

Birthdays are a big deal at our house, and often I am presented with a theme many months in advance which helps in finding party items at a discount. My kids like old fashioned party games and I've found you can adapt most to fit any theme. A lot of our themes have not been character related and those have been some of my favorites.

Great post, and I love the tip about not making all of the food yourself. 🙂

You should be a professional party planner! Question about the Glo Gels… Do you have the mouthpiece too? I'm not sure if I just need the gels or the whole system. Intrigued!

Hi Shay!
Love this post! Planning kid parties is the best and you are certainly very talented in this area 🙂
Just a quick thing – the links to Mel's Tanged party aren't working (all link to your entertainment tips) and the links to the pirate party link to the Blue Ombre party. I will find their blogs and look at the parties myself, but thought you'd like to know!

I love the sign idea, too! This was a great post, especially because I have already started thinking this week about my girl's first birthday in February 🙂 By the way, when I tried to click on the links to Mel's party and the Larson Lingo, they just went back to your entertaining post. Just wanted you to know!
Mix and Match Mama says
Sorry about the links!!! I'll get them corrected ASAP!

Thanks for including my blue ombre party Shay! Doing boy party after boy party…themes start getting really hard to come up with! Glad you thought it was a hit! Your parties have all been amazing…and I'm dying to throw a girl party! Haha!

Those parties were so awesome! I love the ski theme. Both of my girls are February babies, so I can totally do that one!

Love all of your party themes 🙂 My son's birthday is in December and the ski lodge idea would be perfect! Especially since we have a ski lodge right down the road from our home (Ohio).
For Xavier's 1st birthday (Dec. 5th) I hosted a Winter "One"derland party 🙂 We had chili to warm us up, a penguin cake and cupcakes, and gave everyone one of our favorite ornaments (S'mores) with penguins on it. It was a great day! Only a couple more months until his 2nd birthday, so I better start planning! Thanks again for sharing your ideas 🙂

Speaking of parties, have you and your friends ever done a Favorite Things party? If not, you MUST! They are so much fun!

Such great themes! My hubby was a state golf champ so we did a golf theme for my little guy's first birthday and it was a huge hit!
