Fifty Two Shades of Shay: Crossbody Bags


Last week, I showed you this picture on my Vacations Unpacked post…me…and my crossbody bag.  Ahhhh…love.  I’m a purse and bag kind of girl…one of my favorite kinds are my crossbody styles…
…hmmmmm, not only do I apparently love a crossbody but I do not shy away from color either.  There is a lot of neon in those pictures!
Crossbody bags are awesome in situations where you need to carry just a little bit but don’t want to be dragged down by a heavy tote.  Situations like vacations, going through the airport, going to the zoo, going to a baseball game, an outdoor event, shopping during the busy holiday season, going to a concert, shopping any time you have your kids and a stroller…basically, they’re brilliant almost all of the time.  
These ladies look fabulous with their smaller crossbody body bags in fun, bright colors!  Kind of like this yellow one I bought years ago and love…
Since my bag is old and not around any longer…I found us some other options.  All small, most bright, and all fabulous…

I bought this bag for both my mom and my grandmother for Christmas this past year.  I bought my grandmother the orange one and my mom the brown one…and they both love them!  It also comes in navy, fuchsia and black too.

Now, if you’re looking for a bigger sized crossbody bag…one that holds more stuff and can be used for day to day life, I have those too.  Our sweet friend Sheaffer uses a big crossbody every day…and always looks darling with it.  If we know anything about Sheaffer, we know that Pinterest told her to…

    I love how you wear yours. This sounds so crazy but I'm not a guy but I've had guys comment before that it's a struggle when women wear crossbody bags because it cuts right through the middle of our bustlines and just accentuates what they are trying to not look at. Whew, that was a mouthful but you know what I mean.
    You wear yours a little off center so I bet that helps!

    Yes! I carry a large tote for daily use (I have diapers and whatnot to carry around), but LOVE a crossbody for shopping or similar situations where I'm going to be walking around a lot. Great post!

    I just bought the Kate spade one you have shown at the top. I got the cream color at nordstrom. Loved it so much I ordered a cobalt blue one from zappos. It is awesome. The perfect size! It holds my larger wallet, lip gloss and sunglasses. Oh and cell phone too. Love it!

    I love crossbody bags and I buy them for my daughter and they look so cute on her. On me? NOTSOMUCH. I would be interested in what Sheaffer has to say on how women of a certain…age/build…should (or should NOT) wear crossbody bags. What do we do about the boobage? Because…there's some. Yes, there is. I'm not heavy, but I'm also not young and it just looks "different" because sag-age. I will still wear a crossbody if I'm going through the airport and stuff like that, but I always wear a jacket so that it's not so obvious.

    Oh my goodness Shay! Now you've done it!!!! You've written about my FAVORITE thing…crossbody bags! Call me crazy, but I have a thing for a "hands free" bag. I am ALWAYS on the lookout for them! Like you, I am a mom to two kids, a girl and a boy…14 months apart, and ever since having kids, I've needed to be "hands free" when it comes to a purse. I own several….dozen. And for the life of me, I can't figure out why all moms don't go for the hands free approach!?!?! Anyway, this post made my day! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

    I've looked at that flowy tank from Nordstroms so many times because it just looks so dang comfortable and cute! Will definitely be buying a few 🙂 What brands of jeans do you typically like to wear? Love all of your Gap ones, but are there any else you recommend? I'm only 22, but it's so fun to read your bright and cheery blog, get a little girl time in reading about makeup and fashion, and also relish in family and God's love! Can't beat it!
