Happy Tuesday :).
Last Thursday, my parents and I made our annual trek to Boston to see our Sox play two games and as always, we had the very best time! I look forward to this trip all year long. Boston never disappoints, but I must say…I think this year was the very best. It’s been raining in North Texas for 8 straight weeks in a row, so to step off that plane and into gorgeous weather made my heart very happy.
I snapped this pic on my way out the door at 4:15 AM. I love my new scarf :). It’s pretty perfect for spring and summer, right?
At the airport with my dad! This guy is crazy about his Sox!
We arrived in Boston at 11:45 AM, checked into our hotel and then headed to lunch at Faneuil Hall. The weather was gorgeous, the sun was shining and we were happy to eat our lunch outside and enjoy the afternoon. (And in case you were wondering…it was still raining in Dallas…)
On Yawkey Way before the game!
Of course, we always go by and visit our brick.
Just a Texas girl at Fenway Park about to watch her Sox play the Rangers ;).
I posted this on Instagram and several of you asked where my hat and hoodie game from…they’re both from Lucy’s League in Faneuil Hall (the hat is from several years ago but the hoodie is recent!).
My brother always jokes with me and says I’m the son my dad always wanted ;). Sean likes the Rangers…so needless to say, they don’t share the same baseball passion.
The next day, we headed out to enjoy Boston.
We do the same things each year and then a few different things too. This year, we toured a really old cemetery next to Harvard. Most of these people died in the 1600s.
The history here! You look around and wonder what Boston was like when they were alive.
Annual lunch at John Harvard’s (best sweet potato fries on the planet!).
Walking to Newbury Street, we passed the flags put out in honor of Memorial Day. Just beautiful.
Back on Yawkey Way for game 2!
One more pic of our brick for 2015. My dad laughed because the number one question on IG was what kind of shoes was I wearing. What? You don’t want to know what kind of shoes my dad is wearing? 😉
BBQ by our brick (listen, we’re full of traditions!).
Looking at the park up by the Monster.
And then the next morning, I drove back into my driveway to find the most precious view in the world. Three sweet kiddos waiting for their mama…in the rain, of course ;).
Another trip to Boston in the books. I love spending time with my mom and dad…I don’t take that for granted one bit.
It’s not Monday but…
…we can still meal plan, right?
Meal Planning Tuesday is up on my foodie blog today! We’re officially into “summer” food. Click here to check out my menu for the week.
And tomorrow is What’s Up Wednesday! Don’t forget to link up! Here are tomorrow’s questions:

From my home to yours, happy Tuesday!
And PS: it’s still raining here…

What a great weekend!!! You guys definitely have some traditions-so much so that I could tell others what you were doing. Haha! So glad you guys had a great trip!

Next time you are in Boston, make sure to go to dinner at Giacomo's in the North End. It is our absolute favorite. It's cash only, super small, and you usually have to stand in line. They move it along quickly, but the food is amazing. Definitely get the fusilli with lobster. It's a permanent special on the board!

What a fun trip!!! So glad you had such a great time!! Also, you lolled adorable in the scarf!! Love!!

It looks like it was such a fun little trip! And the pic of the kids waiting for you is precious!

I can totally understand why you like Boston so much – it is one of my all time favorite cities. What a great place for an annual family trip!
Mama Of Boys says
Ew, rain, mind you, it must appeal to the Brit-lover in you?! It's freezing over here again, last week we were out in shorts and this week it's back to knee-high boots and bobble hats, mental!

Such a fun trip! How fun that it's just you and your parents. Loft has their sale stuff an additional 60% off. Is there anything from loft that you absolutely love? Like maybe a top that's on sale?
Natalie Zambreski says
Love love that scarf! Looks like such a fun trip and a much needed escape from this miserable rain!
Katherine says
Ok, I've gotta ask. Why are there rocks in your truck in the garage?
Laurie S says
Sounds like a great (non raining) trip. Please please pass some rain to California; we need it. Some vandals cut into an inflatable dam last week and spilled thousands and thousands of gallons of water that we so desperately need to conserve – why would anyone do that?!?! Would appreciate your rain prayers! Thanks!
Taylor Smith says
That is terrible! I'm so sad to hear that. Will be praying.

I love you dad's green Sox shirt! Is that a new one? I would love to get one for my husband. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
He just got it on Yawkey Way!!

Thanks!! 🙂

Such a special time with your mom and dad. I love that you guys do this every year.

As a Boston girl I love seeing all your pics at the park and around town. My dad and brother were at the game Thursday and I have to admit I was a tad jealous I didn't join them and "bump into you". Wouldn't that of been something! I think it's great you guys love Boston so much. I know a lot of people don't understand how a family from Texas could like a baseball team from Boston but they don't call it Red Sox Nation for nothing!

Please tell me where the brown cross body bag is from that you're wearing in the subway pic?

The hat is from several years ago and it's still that white? Wow. How do you Keep it so clean? We always have to chunk our light colored hats because they won't come clean even in dishwasher or washing machine!

Looks like a great time with your parents in Boston, but there is nothing like coming home to your littles. Can you please share where your tee is from in the pic with your new scarf? Love the color and fit. Thanks and happy Tuesday!
Mix and Match Mama says
It's from Loft! It comes in multiple colors (this one is coral). Love it! Washes and dries perfectly!
Kelly @ Familiar Joy says
How fun! And awesome that you are able to get away for a little weekend. I think those times are so important, as a mom. Refresh, recharge and get ready to face the summer! =)

What a fun little getaway and an even better welcome home! 🙂

I have never been to Boston but would love to someday! I love that it's a city with a rich history! Looks like y'all had a blast!

My husband and I are traveling to Boston for the first time in October! Do you, by chance, have any previous blog posts about your trips to Boston? I would love to get some more insight on what you think are the "must sees" of the city!
The Nelson Happenings says
Shay, looks like you and your parents had a fun time. I'm not a huge baseball fan but with your enthusiasm I may grown to like it !!!! Wonderful photos !
Mary Dollar says
Haha…well, because your shoes are cuter!!!
Jaren says
Looks like so much fun! I'd love to see all the history in that city!

So fun! We traveled to Boston last year on our way back from Maine and IT WAS THE BEST TRIP EVER! Boston is amazing and that stadium is the best!! One of my three boys loves Boston and we did that trip for him and I was an instant fan. Looking forward to going back one day and you just gave me idea! I should take him once a year. What a treat that would be! When did you start going on those trips with your parents?
Mix and Match Mama says
The first time I went with them to Boston, I was 14. We started making a conscious effort to do it annually seven years ago. 🙂
Beautifully Seaside // Formerly Chic Coastal Living says
That's about the same age my son was last year when we took him. I'll have to get him one of those bricks! Such a great idea:)
The Rohman Family says
GIRL! I wish I could send you a picture of the rain here in Middle Tennessee…UGHHHHHH!!!!!
Jeanie says
I think it's wonderful that you have this annual trip with your parents. Sorry for all the rain you're getting and hope you're all safe. I wish you could send some of that rain to California. We're desperate!
Katie {The Mishaps & Mayhem of a Solitary Life} says
Boston is also one of my favorite places on the planet!! Love all your Sox gear but I absolutely need your dad's shamrock Sox tee!! Tell him I LOVE it!! 🙂

The University of North Texas 🙂 class of 2003.

I LOVE that you love Boston and the Red Sox so much. I live here and LOVE The Sox too. I would just die if I ever ran into you in real life! We were both at the same game last year and I was hoping to see you. Love reading your blog and following your family's story!
Becky says
Shay, glad you enjoyed the games and Boston. We recently moved from Kennebunkport to NC and boy do I miss the NE, even though I'm a Yankee fan! PS I made your red, white and blue trifle for Memorial Day and it was a big hit….thx for sharing!
Christina says
How did you guys end up Boston fans? Did your dad grow up there or something?
Aubrey says
Yay! I'm so excited for you! The summertime thing I missed THE MOST for eight years in Europe was BASEBALL. My dad and I have plans to watch as much baseball together as possible this summer! We're headed to Arlington to watch my beloved O's. It's no Camden Yards, but it will have to do this year. 🙂

Shay-we are currently planning a trip to Boston for the Fall-where is the best place to stay that is reasonably priced but great location etc.? Thanks!
