Oh I am definitely making that burger for dinner soon! My husband will 1000% look at me like I'm crazy when I serve that to him though. Is it okay to require blindfolds at the dinner table?

Though I appreciate you calling attention to Memorial Day, it is not a day for everyone that has served or is serving, that is Veterans Day. Memorial Day is to honor service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, dying while serving their country. As a Air Force wife I take this seriously. It is a somber day for us, remembering and honoring our friends and peers that have passed while in the line of duty. They deserve that recognition, those that are still here are lucky enough not to.

Thx for pointing this out Erica. As a Marine Corps wife I too take this seriously. It's good to educate those that aren't clear on this. We've lost many friends in combat and home (flying mishaps), Memorial Day is a day to pay tribute to them. But please thank our veterans on Veterans Day! =)

I just popped over to the infertility post. What condition did the doctor say you had that he thought you'd never be able to get pregnant? For some reason, I didn't know you had infertility issues.

Why is Andrew's family rarely mentioned? Doesn't he have siblings? Strange that you see them so seldomly. I know they live far, but it's not like you guys don't have the means to visit them or the space to have them stay with you. You've never posted a pic with them and Ashby. I'm assuming there has been a falling out of some sort. Only logical explanation.
Mix and Match Mama says
I believe I've mentioned this before, but a few years ago, Andrew's brother and his wife decided to remove themselves and their kiddos from all forms of social media. Out of respect for them, we don't post our time together. We have a wonderful relationship with Andrew's sweet family and wish they all lived closer. His family met Ashby in March and since then, Smith and Andrew have been up to visit (I couldn't take K because she was in school, so we had to stay home). Those times together are just private.

Do Andrew's parents object to being put on the blog? I understand his brother's reasoning but what about his parents?
Mix and Match Mama says
You know, I always try to be respectful of other people on my social media. Sometimes, the moment is private and doesn't need to be publicized. They're on here when it's right for them and we're private when that's appropriate too. Just because I blog doesn't mean everyone in the family has to always be a part of it. I would never want to put people in that position unless they're always okay with it. Plus, sometimes, we get together and it's all about private time with the family and it's okay not to document it online. This happens with both sides of our families (and with friends too!). I document a lot on here but most certainly not everything and everyone.

You do seem to blog about your family and document events much more than Andrews side of the family
Mix and Match Mama says
By default, we see them a lot more. My parents live an hour away and Andrew's live six hours away. That's just a matter of geography. Thank goodness for Facetime ;). 2015 has really made distance a lot easier, right?

I love your foodie blog too ! So glad I stopped by and read up on your latest posts.

Hi Shay! I'm 18 years old and I have been reading your blog since December last year and I just wanted to tell you that I learned/am learning so much from you! Your family inspires me and your faith brings me joy. Looking at your blog makes me happy and makes me hope that someday God blesses me with a family of my own! Most times life gets me down but when I look at your blog I am reminded of the possibilities God has in store for me, and in the end, your blog is the kind of positivity the internet needs. Your family is so precious and your daughter Ashby is beautiful. At a young age, you helped me realize the beauty of mothering a child from another woman, and I am praying that someday God gifts me with that kind of responsibility and gift. Stay amazing! Can't wait to learn more from you! God bless!
