Happy Friday!
Today, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing our favorite things on this Friday.
So, here’s the deal with today’s post…I wrote it on Wednesday, published it on Friday and am keeping it up until Tuesday. Andrew and I are out of town this weekend and this mama is taking a blogging break from now until then…so, if you’re reading this on Monday, so sorry! I won’t be back until tomorrow :).
In the meantime, here are my favorite things from this week. Happy Friday (or Monday!) to you! xoxo
I pinned this quote earlier this week…and I laugh out loud every time I read it. #truth
Speaking of truths…when I pinned this quote this week, I thought of my kids. They just have no idea. These little moments in our days are the moments I will remember forever.
And then this…
I was doing my quiet time one morning this week (off the Bible app on my phone), when I read this verse. This is probably my life verse. I wrote it down years ago and keep it on my desk.
God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams.
-Ephesians 3:20
Many of you out there might need to hear that this morning. Just know…God can do anything. In times of desperation, anxiousness, sadness, confusion, impatience and so much more, I have relied on this verse. My journey to motherhood has done nothing more than bring me to my knees. Between infertility, a miscarriage, non-stop morning sickness and adoption…I have relied on this verse over and over again. Whatever you’re needing God for today, He’s there. He can do anything.
Don’t know what to make for Father’s Day this weekend? Click here to see my manly menu ;). (And listen, it’s not too manly, it’s just right for any weekend supper!)
And if you’re looking for a cute little printable for Father’s Day, check out these here. Jennifer (another mama here in my town) has them and I thought they were super cute :).
When I did my binge watching post, Andrew and I were about halfway through season 1 of House of Cards and now, we’re almost finished with season 3…and friends, I.just.can’t.stop. This show is outstanding! The acting, the writing, the suspense…it is just so good! If you’re a binge watcher like us, it’s my latest recommendation!
My girlfriend Cassie did a post this week about her organized pantry. It’s a work of art! As soon as we’re back from our trip, I’m going to clean out my pantry and attempt to make it half as good as Cassie’s. To see Cassie’s pantry post, click here.
Last week, my brother posted this picture on Instagram of them at Celebrity Family Feud and y’all…they had the BEST time! Sean and Catherine could not have said nicer things about Steve Harvey and the entire experience. Their episode airs this Sunday night at 8/7c on ABC…and it sounds like so much fun ;). Set your DVRs!
And if you’re looking for a weekend dessert…
…look no further than my Piña Colada Pie. I love me an ice cream pie on a warm evening. Click here for the recipe.
Happy Friday (or Monday!). See you Tuesday!
And pssssst…if you’re here on Monday, Meal Planning Monday is up. Click here. 🙂
xoxo

Thank you for posting that verse! It was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. We're in the middle of an adoption (waiting to be matched with a little girl from China), and sometimes I feel so anxious and discouraged while we wait. That verse (and pretty much everything you post about Ashby!) always gives me hope. Thank you! Enjoy your time with Andrew! 🙂

I wish you would have named the "celebrities" that are in the picture with your brother! I must be so out of the loop because none of them look even vaguely familiar 🙂

Thanks for posting that verse. We are waiting to hear back from our pediatrician this weekend about my son's bloodwork. They think something serious may be going on in his little 3 year old body, and I'm terrified and feel sick about it. So thank you for the gracious reminder! 🙂
Donna says
Ephesians 3:20 is the verse I've claimed as my life verse for many years now. I'm a worrier by nature and I have a lot of big goals and dreams for my life reminding myself that God is able to do exceedingly more than I could ask for AND even more than I could imagine is comforting and humbling. I hope you & Andrew are enjoying your time together! 🙂

We have heard so many recommendations for House of Cards lately! We're definitely going to have to check that one out 🙂

I'm going to start Gilmore Girls pretty soon. Finished Downton Abbey(LOVE!!!) and taking a little reading break. I like the idea that House of Cards is something both my hubby and I can watch.

what happened to the "talk amongst yourselves" idea in which you wont actually take anyones advice? Now would be the perfect time to put that up as you said you would. But wait, you wont be able to moderate comments as well so people might actually see through you. Oops.
Mix and Match Mama says
Actually, I'm saving that for our family vacation in August :). And my girlfriend is going to publish my comments on those days since I'll be gone. Thanks for checking! Have a great weekend friend!

You, Shay, are a class act! It takes a special kind of person to hide behind "Anonymous" when commenting (insulting) on blogger's posts. I'm always impressed with your kindness and diplomatic nature.

No one forces you to read her blog. If you don't like it, then just go away… this is still a free country- you don't HAVE to read here!
For the rest of us, we like her. Move on.

Good for you Shay, I love how you always take the high road and spread only love & positivity! Enjoy your vacation!!
Lea says
Girl. That is not binge watching. Binge watching is watching an entire season in a day or two. C'mon, now 🙂

The bachelor/bachelorette Family Feud episode actually airs next Sunday June 28th not this Sunday as you indicated.
Mix and Match Mama says
It's on every Sunday night for the next few weeks. Sean and Cat are on this Sunday (the 21st)! 🙂
Anonymous says
Yes it is on every Sunday but the bachelor episode is the 28th. Look at Molly mesnick's instagram.
Mix and Match Mama says
Haha! Well one of them is wrong. I called Carherine on Wednesday and she said their episode was the 21st. I guess we better watch both weeks :).

This weekend is Andrew's first Father's Day with Ashby, and you're not home to celebrate this?!
Mix and Match Mama says
That's why we have a 6:00 am flight! We'll be home before they even have breakfast :). Thanks for checking! We have big plans with our special guy on Father's Day :).

To Anonymous, who are you???
Are you the "Arbiter of Justice"?
Are you paid to check on all Americans to ensure that they're all celebrating holidays the way YOU expect them to??
Frankly, it's none-ya. (None ya business)
Marlene Fisher says
You said that you would be home on Monday at the top of this post, which is why people were questioning that…
Mix and Match Mama says
I just said I wasn't blogging on Monday :). I want to spend tomorrow with my kiddos instead of blogging. I'll be back on here Tuesday. Have a great weekend Marlene!

The verse you shared really resonated with me today. I have a friend going through a very difficult time and her faith is shaky and wavering. I forwarded your post to her and highlighted the verse. She was so grateful. You brightened quite a few lives today. Thank you.

First, I hope you are enjoying your vacation. I am in some rough times right now and haven't been able to take my kids on any sort of vaca since 2008. I love summer blogs because I can enjoy reading about others vacas. We are looking forward to that Family Fued show Sunday. Will you be doing a blog post possibly on Sean and the Live Original Tour? Can't wait to see pics of your sweet babies again soon. Love from NC.

Hello! Two things!!
1. I love your blog and I love that you've been sharing your journey of adopting Ashby. I have a friend thinking of adoption and I pointed her in the direction of this blog. She started from the beginning and has learned so much already!
2 I have been reading you blog for a long time now and I think I remember you mentioning a daily devotional that you use and love. I am currently looking for a daily devotional directed to women or single women as I focus on deepening my relationship with God. I would love a recommendation of something you have used! Your daily quiet time is an inspiration to me & a goal of mine! Thank you 🙂 🙂
