Back at the end of August, I blogged about her first day here and honestly, I had no clue what to expect. When you send your first off to school, you have no gauge for how it’s going to go and how it’s going to change family life. Kensington is my quiet and shy kiddo that tells me that she will live with me forever and ever…so needless to say, leaving for school every day sounded daunting to her. She was very nervous and not really that excited about going to school…but fast forward nine months and my girl cried on the last day of school that she was going to miss her teacher and her friends over summer break :). She had an amazing year.
I love that Kensington’s teacher would text pics to the parents. Nothing made me happier than to receive a picture of my girl having a blast during the day.
And because we live in the coolest town ever…it’s pretty common to see a hot air balloon in the mornings and/or evenings.
The 100th day of school…this is Kensington dressed like a 100 year old ;).
First day of school and last day of school.
It was a great year for our girl! Kensington has grown and blossomed more than I ever imagined. I am so proud of her and I love the fact that she’s already excited about entering first grade. They grow up so quickly…I’m trying my very hardest to make the most of each and every moment.
And hey friends…don’t forget that it’s Meal Planning Monday!
This week, it’s Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, Waffle Wednesday, Turkey Thursday and Fry Friday!

Kindergarten was always my favorite year with my kids. I feel like I sent them all to school as little kids and by the end of the year they were big kids. So fun watching them learn so much and gain some independence during kindergarten. Enjoy your summer !

Did her teacher use Remind to send texts? I teach 2nd grade and that's what I use to send pictures to parents via text, but if there's another way I would love to hear about it!

She is absolutely adorable! It's so hard letting the oldest go to school. Our second is going to kindergarten this year, and I think I'm equally as heartbroken! It is comforting to know they will have each other, but I guess the selfish part of me can't help but miss them! Love seeing your fun summer pics!

She's adorable, glad she had such a good year!
I hope the incident on the news about the community pool in McKinney TX wasn't at your pool… How scary.

She is going to look back and thoroughly enjoy this blog about her first year of school (and all of the others too). I admire how engaged you are in your children's life. So very neat.

Wow that's awesome! We just recently moved to McKinney from San Francisco. I have not yet seen a hot air balloon. =) Can't wait to see one!

My big girl starts Kindergarten this fall and I am a ball of nerves about it but she seems to be super excited which is SO great! Loved seeing how your sweet, shy girl came out of her shell and had such an amazing year, makes me feel a little better about my girl starting K in the fall! Also, I LOVE that your kids and Erika's are the exact same ages, how fun for all of you! Those kids are so lucky to have a built in best friend at school every year!

She is the cutest! I love that you see hot air balloons, so pretty! I was thinking when I got to the part with the pictures of your kids and Erika's kids how crazy it was they're all the exact same ages, and then you said it too. 🙂 That's great though, friends for each one!

Hi Shay – You made it through Kindergarten (LOL)! Don't forget the biggest part – you started the school year with two special kiddos and finished the school year with THREE! Ashby has added such depth and dimension to your lives, and to see how Kensington and Smith are loving their little sister is heartwarming!

I had a question and wasn't sure where to post it on here. but.. you have close girl friends andrea, Shaffer, Erica etc. I know you equally value their friendship but as couples do you gel more with one couple and seem to do more with them because your husband's gel too???. I have some very close girlfriends and one friends husband really gets along with mine snd the others not so much, not like they dislike each other but nothing in common really. has this ever caused any bad feelings?
Mix and Match Mama says
The guys all get along great too! They just don't really see each other that much (except for church and stuff on Sundays and then at baseball too) because they all work during the day and that keeps them busy. It's hard finding great couple friends but when you do, it's such a blessing :).

Love this post! She grew so much this year! I'm always in awe at how far we've come after having struggles with fertility too. It's just amazing to see what life has in store!

She is so beautiful and yes, they do grow so quickly. Especially once they start school. My husband and I keep commenting about how we can't believe we will have a third grader next year. It seems like she just started kindergarten last week!!!!
