Okay…enough of my pity party…let’s see what’s up…
My Meal Planning Monday was dedicated to all things from the grill this week (shrimp, burgers, pizza, and more!). I love grilling dinner during the summer and then eating on the patio…so that’s what’s for dinner this week!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year…and that in a month, this girl will be in first grade and Smith will be in kindergarten! That quote that says “the days are long but the years are short”…yeah, so true.
A whole lot of this. It’s so stinkin’ hot outside that if you’re not in the A/C, you better be in the pool.
5. What I’m dreading…
Speaking of the weather…I’m kind of dreading the fact that our 10 day forecast looks a little warm. We’ve had an extremely mild summer for us…but still, it’s hot, hot, hot!
I need to clean out our play room. I cleaned it out right before the end of school…but now that my kiddos have been home all summer, it’s kind of a disaster. I’m going to wait until the first week of school and then I’m going to purge it like a crazy woman. This quote always makes me laugh…
Listen…as bummed as I am about my kiddos heading back to school and glorious summer being over…we get to end one wonderful season and head straight into another.
Pumpkins are out at Hobby Lobby friends, fall is coming ;).
Andrew and I just started watching True Detective. I’m not sure if I have an opinion about it yet or not. It’s one of those shows that at this point, I can’t tell if I’m going to love it or hate it. Have you guys watched it??? I’m on the fence…amazing acting, but I’m not sure if it’s going to be my cup of tea or not.
I’ve been turning The Beach Boys on outside by the pool. I feel like good parenting is when your kids know the lyrics to Kokomo…
Well, I haven’t left the house in this stuff yet…but I’m anxious for the weather to cool down (see #5 above about what I’m dreading…) so that I can wear my new finds for fall…
12. What I’m looking forward to next month…
Not a whole lot 🙂
Spending all day with my kids!! Without a doubt! I love having my kiddos around and I’m going to miss the two big ones so much when they’re at school all day.
That’s our What’s Up Wednesday! I can’t wait to look through the link ups to see what’s up with you! Happy Wednesday friends!
On my foodie blog today…
xoxo

Okay, I wanted to ask this question before but didn't want to seem like a weirdo haha! I love those PJ's and have been eyeing them since you mentioned them on the blog but am apprehensive about the top. I'm a little top heavy and it doesn't look like it has much support. Does it have a built in bra of any kind? Thank you!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It's just a tank (no support!). For the pic, I put a strapless bra on underneath…because you know…I don't need to post a bra-less pic, right?! There isn't any support, just a tank!
Lauren McGreevy says
Haha! I completely understand! Thanks for letting me know 🙂
Erika Slaughter says
Girl…that forecast!! We've officially hit "start sweating before you get the car started season". Hope it's over soon!!
Kelsey Craggett says
Shay, I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you love spending time with you kids! It seems that so many moms complain about having them home for summer, and it's refreshing to hear about how much you love them and how sad you are that they'll be back in school.
Just wanted to share that I appreciate that!
(PS I'm not a mom….I just love hearing things that are uplifting, that all 🙂
The Robbins' Nest says
These posts are some of my favorite to read! I love the blue and white striped version of those jammies, so so cute. And I couldn't agree with you more about the Beach Boys music. I actually feel like a bit of a failure for not playing it for my kids sooner. It will definitely be on today while we are swimming 🙂
KRMM21 says
Those pjs do they have a shelf bra? They look so comfy but I need support 🙂
Lauren McGreevy says
See my first comment and Shay's response 🙂 I was worried about the same thing!
KRMM21 says
Glad I wasn't alone:) I was trying to ask politely so I didn't look like a weirdo either hahaha
Victoria says
Love the Kokomo comment. I'm going to be humming that the rest of the day!
Narci says
Those pajamas are just the cutest thing ever. Also, the sausage and potatoes is delcious!! Perfect for family dinner!!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
The weatherman teased a cold front the other day. Chris and I tuned in at 10:00, and it was going to be three degrees cooler. 3. That's not a cold front, sir.
The Stantons says
I have to list my comments!
1. Ordered those same pjs and delivery is today!! Have another second round of Nordstrom goodies thanks to PTMT! ❤️❤️
2. Sigh….purging toys. Just yesterday I smuggled the minions from McDonalds happy meals. Stealth Ninja mom!! Then…..my husband took out the trash and the second he pulled the bag out, those things started talking. Yes…the kids were right there and heard it. Freaking out….then I had to dig those things out of my trash. #supernjnjafail. #notaninja
3. Eating outside….good heavens, how do you keep the flies away? Biggest reason I can't eat outside!
Signed,
Crabby in Plano from the million degree heat. 🙂
Karen says
Those McDonald's minions are creeps! We have two and they start giggling randomly. I hate it!
Melissa says
What print did you choose for your second pair of pj's?! 🙂
I totally second how amazing these are. I tried them on in store last week on your recomendation, and I.WAS.BESIDE.MYSELF :))
Mix and Match Mama says
Navy stripe!! They're just so soft!!
Melissa says
ooh, yes! I saw those the other day online, but now that pattern is sold out 🙁
I was wondering about that one though, because you know how some striped patterns are really harsh on the eyes – like painful to look at?!- is that the case with yours?
Caravan Sonnet says
Thank you so much for hosting this! It is always so fun to read everyone's blog post!! 🙂
Blessings, Rebecca 🙂
p.s. I am TOTALLY with you on the summer heat! It has been a mild one here also except this week is looking BRUTAL!
Jenny says
Oh man… I don't know if my kids have listened to The Beach Boys before. I need to fix that today! 🙂
Lauren says
AHHH I really want these pjs and want to order but my only concern is length in the pants. I'm 5'2" haha
Holly says
Those pajamas do look comfy! The first season of True Detective is one of my favorite shows. The acting is so good and carried the plot IMO, especially in the end. The new 2nd season is a major hot mess, so disappointed. Have you guys tried The Americans? It's a really good show and 2nd and third seasons get better instead of worse.
Deri says
True Detective moves really slowly but as the story unraveled I liked it more and more. The acting was phenomenal. Now this season, I just can't seem to get into it. There is slow, and then there is slllloooooowwww.
We have a large bonus room that acts as our playroom and I feel like I can't ever stay on top of it. I told my husband I'm going to take a couple days off work and just gut it when the kids are at daycare. Would you share pics of your playroom? I'm always looking for new ideas/layouts/etc.
midwestmom says
It just FINALLY got hot here in Illinois. Like it's just no feeling like summer! So you Texas ladies are killing me with the fall clothes and wishes for fall!! #icanteven #summerforever
Kelsey Mann Peacock says
I have been debating on those pajamas for about a week but I'm thinking I'm just going to have to splurge & get some 🙂 Sad to see summer go but I'm looking forward to fall too!

Is True Detective on NEtflix?
Chelsea says
While fall is my FAVORITE season, here in Chicago, the temperatures just started creeping past the 70s in July, so I am just fine with summer hanging on a bit longer! I love this Wednesday posts – now I just need to add them to my calendar and link up!
Lindsay Otis says
I am super curious about those jammies, I may have to grab me some to change out of my old tee shirt and shorts routine. I love those cute fall outfits you have, makes me feel the shopping itch too. I've been in the pool all summer with niece and nephew which makes going back to school such a drag, I feel you!

ebk248 says
During the winter months I loved how those DKNY long sleeve microfleece ones didn't feel too short in the back. Are these PJ bottoms similar to that or do they have a lower rise?
Cait Bahena says
PSA! Bath & Body Works has fall candles!!!
Leigh Clark says
Ewww the playroom clean out! Dreadful….I must do that too – but avoiding like the plague!!!
Amanda says
I am wearing those PJs as we speak, in the grey stars pattern (yes, at noon. I changed out of them to go to the grocery store this morning and put them right back on as soon as I got home!). They are SOOOO comfy. I've never been a PJ girl but these have transformed me. They are buttery soft and the waistband is perfect for a pregnant mama! Just ordered two more pairs. Wish the navy stripe would come back in stock!
Emelie Larson says
I couldn't get into True Detective….I liked it and I hated it. I think it just creeped me out too much. I think part of the problem is that it moves kind of slow. I didn't finish it 🙁
Mama Of Boys says
Purging toys is such hard work. Toddler is asked to choose which toys he would like to give to those children who don't have any at their own houses. I figured this meant I was actually getting rid of stuff he didn't want/need/have much interest in but it also encouraged him to be generous and caring AND I was trying to avoid the 'being busted smuggling things out/being asked where things were months down the line' thing. He also knows that if he gets 4/5 toys for his bday/xmas he needs to try and donate 4/5 old ones…but it's still hard work! And the playroom is STILL bursting at the seams!!
Jaren says
I haven't watched True Detective yet, but I'd like to because it was written by my former co-worker's son. And yes, "Kokomo" lyrics are a must 🙂
elijoh says
"I feel like good parenting is when your kids know the lyrics to Kokomo…" LOVE IT!!!

Hubby and I like True Detective…good storyline..good writing. I AM conflicted over the VIOLENCE and wonder if I should be providing an audience for it.
Jaye Moncier says
Hi Shay, I love your blog! I've always wanted to blog and I finally started my own. I have more time now since I'm done with school 🙂 I wanted to ask this before but I didn't want to ask a "duh" question but how does "linking" up work with your What's Up Wednesday blog post? I love reading yours and would love to do one of my own with friends. Thanks!
Jeanie says
I hate to tell you that our temps here in Sacramento pretty much mimic yours, I REALLY hate to tell you that I don't have a pool to jump into!
emily @ a little bit of emily says
I grew up listening to the Beach Boys! So fun that you are sharing with your kids!
Lora G says
Are you watching Season 1 or 2 of True Detective? It is crazy and twisted, but we liked season 1 because it was so different from anything we've ever seen! Season 2 is so different from Season 1, and we started watching out of loyalty, but it's getting pretty good too. Crazy plotlines and some scenes/moments like you've never seen on TV. You have to watch Homeland! That is a phenomenal show! Have a great day!
