Friday Favorites: With a Giveaway!


Hooray it’s Friday!
I mean…thanks to Columbus Day, it was only a four day week…but still, I’m happy Friday’s already here.
I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci today to share my favorites.
After all of my NYC pics this week…one thing was clear…I love Wellies, you love Wellies and Nordstrom realized we all love Wellies, so they asked if we wanted to collaborate together and thus…a giveaway was born.  Woohoo!  I’m giving away a $200 Nordstrom Gift Card today so that you can buy yourself some Wellies, your kids some Wellies…or you can skip the Wellies and just buy something else ;).  It’s Friday…let the fun begin!
Here are my favorite things from this week…

On the flight home, I read Jen Hatmaker’s book For the Love cover to cover.
Now…I’ll review it in full later this month when I do my monthly book reviews, but it was so good, so motivating, so encouraging and so perfect for women like us that I thought you ladies might want to go ahead and read it now so that we can discuss it in a few weeks.  I actually took notes on my phone as I read…she says so many things that we (especially us mamas) need to hear.  I’m telling you…this book will make you appreciate the life you have and love the people in it even more.

I received several questions this week about my crossbody bag, flannel shirt poking out there and faux leather jacket.  The jacket I bought several years ago for next to nothing, so it’s no longer available but I found this one that comes in two colors and the reviews on it are awesome (plus, it’s under $100!).

Today, on my foodie blog…Monster Mix.  I used Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, Vanilla Chex, marshmallows and loads of Halloween candy.  This is a great little snack or TV watching munchie and it’s super cute tied up in a little bag and given away to friends, neighbors, teachers and family.  See the directions here.

On Monday, it’s going to be my annual scarf-a-palooza around here…but in the meantime, a sweet reader named Melissa messaged me after she bought this scarf…and I’m in love!  Right now, they’re already back ordered a week, so you and I both know that they’ll be sold out before the weekend is over.  I thought I better give you the heads up.  I bought the navy and burgundy…but that navy and green one is calling my name too!  Do I need both???  Eeks!  So cute!

And one last little thing before we get to our Wellies and other kids’ shoes…remember these pajamas from last year???  I talked about them pretty much non-stop because they were so comfy and they made the perfect Christmas gift!  (I believe I bought 5 pairs as gifts last year.)  Well, they’re back in a whole new slew of prints this year.  
Woohoo!  
Buy these!  I’m telling you…your friends and family will LOVE them for Christmas!  I ended up buying myself a couple of pairs because they’re amazingly soft.  Add these pajamas to your Christmas shopping list :).

So, Nordstrom asked if I would talk about Wellies and other kids’ shoes and cold weather gear since it’s obvious that my kiddos’ wear it (especially after we went to rainy NYC last week)…and we’re giving away a $200 gift card to be extra fun!
So three years ago, Andrea bought those pink Wellies for Kensington at a second hand shop (she bought a size 13 and at the time, Kensington wore a 10, but we used thick socks and made it work).  Well, I bought Smith some rain boots from Payless because they were less expensive and they ripped at the heel.  Then I bought him some rain boots at Target for the same reason and they leaked so much that last spring, his teacher asked me to bring him dry shoes at school.  So this year, I got smart and bought Smith and Ashby Wellies….because three years later, Kensington’s still hold up beautifully.  I bought both kiddos a slightly bigger size so that they’ll last longer (thick socks make it work!).  
I’m obviously a big fan of the mama sized Wellies…
…and now, I’m a big fan of the kids’ Wellies too.

    I would spend the gift card on maternity clothes! As much as I'd love a pair of wellies, I have to put things in priority now that I'm finally expecting!! Amen!! And from what I'm seeing, it's tougher to find winter (I'm in NJ) maternity clothes rather than cute dresses like summertime. I need coats and sweaters and all things warm. ❤️ Fingers crossed.

    I just bought the pink Hunter wellies on Monday at Nordstrom for my 3-year-old!     I would love to get my daughter her first pair of wellies! Ps did you know that women with smaller feet can totally order the big kid sizes? It is actually perfect for those with a wider calf/and or anyone short because the boot height isn't quite as high.

    We just moved to Texas at the end of Summer (I mean is that really a thing because its still 90 degrees!) from Colorado. In CO we just don't need Hunters because of all the snow, but only just commented to my Husband last night that our daughter needs some wellies and a raincoat with all the rain forecasted this November! I know this is so random, but with all your cooking I would be surprised if you hadn't heard of this already, but did you know that if you need to shred meat you can use your electric mixer? I swore that it would break the mixer but my mom assured me that it works so i tried it and it was life changing! Chicken, pot roast all perfectly shredded within seconds!

    I would love to buy a pair of Wellies for my son!! I have a navy pair that are three years old and I love them!! With the liners, they are perfect for the snow and slush, which I get plenty of in Michigan! The red are calling my name and need to find a spot in my closet!     Love my wellies! Here is my tip: if you have smaller feet and are on the shorter time, it is better to get the kids sizes. They fit my short legs much better, and cost less!
