Well, this week, I did Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, Waffle Wednesday, Turkey Thursday and Fajita Friday. You can see all of the recipes here on my Meal Planning Monday.
My Crock Pot Chicken Tacos are the most popular thing we make at our house. It’s always a hit with my family!
One of our snow days from last year. It’s not looking like we’re going to get one this year and I’m bummed out! I like at least one lazy, cozy snow day a year.
I told you guys on Friday that I’m loving this City Block Sheer SPF that doubles as a primer. Love it so much! It also comes in an SPF 40 that I think I’ll get for this summer.
Sunblock + Primer = A simpler makeup routine for me!
Well, Andrew has been snowboarding this week with my brother, my cousin, Tab and like 6 other guys in Vail. So, the kids and I have been doing our little routine without him. We’re all anxious for him to come home. We miss him! That being said, his view from the snowboard isn’t bad, right?! #sopretty
We had an appointment with Ashby’s radiologist two weeks ago and it was complicated to say the least. Beginning this fall, she’s going to start some treatments that will help her but at the same time, they’ll be painful. Her orthopedic surgeon, radiologist and hematologist all agree that these treatments will benefit her in the long run…but it makes me so sad. You never want to think your baby is going to be in pain.
Right now, I’m working on cleaning out closets. With Andrew being gone, I have extra time in the evenings to get some stuff done…so, I’ve tackled closets. With no more winter in sight (see point #2), I thought I might as well clean out some closets and get them ready for spring.
Spring Break!!
I’m excited about going on vacation with these peeps…
We’re going to have so much fun!!
I did my February Book Review on Monday! Right now, I’m reading the first book in line for my March review, and I’m hoping that with Spring Break coming up, I’ll get a few extra books in this next month. To see my book review, click here.
As for what I’m watching…
The Bachelor and…
…The People v. OJ Simpson. Tell me…how is it that this show can make me so nervous WHEN I KNOW WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN? It’s insane…I’m like legitimately nervous watching it when in fact, I know the ending.
Apparently during this weird transitional weather season we’re having, I’m wearing my Converse all the time. They’re not only comfy, they’re cute and seem to work with whatever I have going on. This very minute, while I’m typing this to you…I’m wearing the outfit on the right…again. Because I love it so :).
Striped sweater here.
Plaid shirts (mine is no longer in stock) here.
Coral sweater here.
I’m not quite sure??? Smith has his final basketball game on Saturday morning and other than that, we don’t have any plans. I love weekends like that :).
Wedge Season!
Insert me saying “woohoo” here!
And look what I already ordered for the occasion…
Eeeks! I’m in love! I ordered the cognac version but the black is cute too! I heart wedges so much. I love, love, love, love them! I ordered these wedges on Saturday, so when they arrive, I’ll snap a pic for you. Go ahead and note that I will probably be wearing them every single day between March 1 and October 1.
It’s just business as usual around here.
Eeks! I don’t have one! I’m hoping you guys can give me some! For some reason, we have so many fun family traditions for the other holidays but we’ve never really established one for Easter. I’m totally open to suggestions! This Easter, we’re taking advantage of the kids’ day off from school on Good Friday and taking a road trip…so if you have a suggestion we could fit in while we’re away, I’d love that too.
Okay, I cannot wait to read your link ups below!
I love What’s Up Wednesday!
On my foodie blog today…
Amen.
See you tomorrow!

So sorry that Ashby's treatment will be painful. That just hurts your heart! But thank the Lord that we have that kind of health care available to us. Can you imagine if we didn't? Also, you got my man and I hooked on The People vs. OJ. Ha, I have the same problem with getting nervous! It's the background music that gets me and makes me think somethin's gonna pop out!
Have a great rest of your week!

I had so much to say but the Sloppy Joe Quesadillas left me speechless at the bottom!! YUMMY!!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
I'm laughing SO hard. Here's what I was going to say in my comment: "I had a couple of things to say, but then the sloppy joe quesadilla made me lose track of my thoughts." So….now I'm going to sit here and remember what my thoughts were since Erika stole me comment. 😉
1) I want a snow day too.
2) My converse are on repeat as well. Those and my nude flats.
3) I ordered a pair of wedges this week too! Mine are chambray!
4) Always praying for sweet Ashby, and for your anxious heart as well. You know that she continually surprises and amazes y'all with what she able to withstand. I'm sure that this new treatment will be no exception.

Hunting for candy-filled Easter eggs is a fun tradition

We started a new tradition of Easter Egg Olympics last year when it was going to be fewer of us on Easter morning. You can do as many or little activities as you want and make them fit for the age group! We made use of games like Wii Bowling and word scrambles but also had a classic egg hunt and toss, too. It was a lot of fun and everyone is already looking forward to this year!
Tara G. says
Do you have the Resurrection eggs from Family Life? It comes with a devotional (if it's too much, you can adjust) but there are story books you can get, too. We have used them like an advent calendar, opening one a day and then hid the Easter morning to find. Of course, the last egg is empty and we'd celebrate. Ashby would probably like Miss Pattycake's Eggstravaganza DVD that uses the eggs.
Chasing Pure Simplicity says
I second the resurrection eggs. We've had ours for years now and they are one of the kids favorite traditions. Praying for sweet Ashby!
Amy says
Yes…I was going to say Resurrection Eggs, too. Also, we have some books we always read at Easter. We love The Country Bunny and the Little Golden Shoes, The Golden Egg Book, The Velveteen Rabbit, and The Egg Tree are some of our favorites. I am praying for sweet Ashby and your family.
Sabrina says
I'm wearing my converse as often as possible, too. I can't wait for wedges and shorts, but I'm a little sad to see the cold weather go. In fact, every time a cool front goes through, I try to wear my favorites because it might be the last time I get to wear it until next year! ?
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
Wedge season!! I can't wait!! Praying for sweet Ashby – I know your mama heart hurts over this, but praying for strength for you all!!
Michelle Stone says
Tip for traveling- close line hangar with each kids name and a couple of dollars clipped to the visor. Take away the dollars as they are misbehaving. Whatever is left they get to spend on a snack at the next stop. Whatever you have to take away for misbehavior, you get to spend on your own snack!
Angela Ellingson says
Praying for sweet Ashby. That's so hard. For Easter we give the kids Easter egg baskets, do an Easter egg hunt, go through the Resurrection Eggs with them, go to church, dye eggs…
Elizabeth Whisler says
I'm so glad someone else is reacting the same way about the OJ series. My husband keeps laughing at me. During the Bronco scene I was jumpy and kept covering my face…so dumb…I had to keep telling myself "I know he didn't shoot himself!"
Full Time Wife Life says
Our favorite Easter tradition is an egg hunt with one empty egg, representing the empty tomb. Inside the egg is a note that says "For he is not here, he has risen…" with the whole bible verse. The kid who gets that egg gets the BIG prize – a chocolate cross. Fun way to incorporate the story into the egg hunt, and it always fun to watch them tear through their eggs looking for a bible verse and not being AS excited when they find candy.
Cara@HomespunKitchen says
Our favorite tradition is Easter egg hunting at night. I put little battery operated tea lights in the eggs and we wait until its dark and then I hide them. My girls are 15, 12 and 9 and they look forward to it every year!
Praying for Ashby, I hope it won't be as painful as they think. After you posting several times about going in and getting skin checks, I finally did yesterday and had two moles removed to be tested. Thanks for encouraging us to go in!!
Lindy says
Our favorite easter tradition is making Empty Tomb Rolls! So much fun and a yummy way to remember the power of the resurrection! http://pin.it/eSuK95k
Dollie White says
We started the tradition from the book you recommended last year. "By Courtney Defeo: in this house we will giggle" We go outside to our creek by our house let the kids find two sticks one shorter then the other and make a cross then go back inside he house and write down sins or bad habits we have and want to change. We all pin then on the sticks, then when the kids wake up on Easter morning we the parents have all the sins written on postage notes taken off the cross and share the Easter story with the kiddos how Jesus washed out sins away on the cross. #inthishousewewillgiggle
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum} says
Darling Ashby! Breaks my heart to think of her going through those treatments, but what a blessing that she's even in a position to have them now, thanks you to you all! Enjoy the rest of your closet-binging time!!!
Kerry Dorman says
We have two traditions that we do every year. One we do several times… because, hey its so much fun! That tradition is "resurrection eggs". You can find them at Mardel's or Lifeway. The other tradition that we do on Easter morning are "resurrection rolls". You take crescent rolls (the cloth Jesus was wrapped in), butter, sugar and cinnamon (the oil and spices used) and a large marshmallow (Jesus). You dip the marshmallow in the melted butter, roll in cinnamon and sugar and wrap in crescent roll. You then put them in the oven (tomb), roll the stone (close the door). Then you roll the stone away (open the oven) and when you open the crescent roll, the marshmallow is gone. Happy Easter!
Sara Fehrenbacher says
Kerri, I love this idea!! Such a good way to visualize the resurrection. Can't wait to try this someday when I have little ones!
Haylen says
Lol! I basically wrote this exact same post below! As I decided to scroll up, I found yours was the same! We must be kindred spirits ?

Extra prayers for Ashby and y'all as you prepare. A few Easter traditions for our family: we make a bunny cake (really simple & fun) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/18356/easy-bunny-cake/
we make Easter cards and mail/deliver them to shut-ins in our area who can't get out for Easter.

So fun that Andrew is in Vail. I LOVE Vail!!! One of my favorite things about going to University of Colorado was being so close to Vail. You are going to LOVE the Disney Cruise! We went in 2011 and it was a blast. I also need to clean out closets..ugh!!!
Amy S. says
Hi Shay! Do you have low cut socks you like for your Converse? I have the same shoes but all my low cut socks end up showing…
Katie says
I don't remember where I heard the tip, possibly Sheaffer, but converse makes socks that work wonders with the shoes. If I recall correctly I got them in children's sizes because they run big( I wear a women's size 8) again thanks to Sheaffer, anthropologie had some great no shows that worked as well (last season) not sure if thy still
Have them. And I hair grabbed some from gap with my gap cash… Hoping they work out too.
Hope my ramblings help!
Kerry Dorman says
Stance socks are amazing with converse.

We don't really focus a whole lot on the Easter bunny. However, We have a pewter bunny-shaped antique key that hangs from a bright green ribbon that the kids hang outside the door the night before the bunny comes. Then he can come in and leave a few treats. They love knowing how he gets in the house!
Angela says
Random question … do you wear socks with your Converse shoes? I love my Converse and have socks that I wear that you can't see, but the socks slide off my feet all day. I would love to find some that stay on me feet. Help!
Mix and Match Mama says
I don't wear socks with mine. I got tired of tugging on short socks, so now, I just skip them altogether!
LondonLauren says
I heard Converse makes socks called "Cut for Chucks" or something like that? I think they stay hidden and supposedly don't slide off. I was thinking of buying some. I can't go without socks but when I wear hidden socks they slide off and drive me insane and when I wear the non-hidden kind that come up higher, you can see them and they don't look so good.
Port Family says
We love resurrection eggs too (my kids are already asking when we can start, some years we go through twice). We also do an adult Easter egg hunt (bless my mom for doing it). They are filled with money ranging from a $1 to $20…it's so fun and so competitive! We also love to decorate eggs and have a kid hunt too! Love your blog 🙂
Janet M. says
For us, Easter always meant egg hunts of course (plastic), but beyond that my Mom always used Easter as our fancy holiday. We wore pretty dresses, we got our first glimmers of spring, so we always did Easter brunch – out at a restaurant! My mom cooked for every single other holiday and always did food related treats for the small ones, so she felt like Easter was a good one to let someone cook for her! Doing the brunch right after church was always a fun tradition that we still do to this day. Also, it was nice because it was more simple – all the other holidays have a ton of fuss, hustle, and need to see everyone, and Easter we always did just our family unit so that kept it light and easy.

Oh, my. I remember when my youngest wouldn't listen to anything but Kidz Bop. I was so happy when she finally graduated to listening to songs by the actual original artists. With K just in 2nd grade, though, I'm afraid you've got a ways to go. *sigh*
Lauren Darrell says
Shay– I also LOVE wedges but because I'm tall I have to wear low/medium height wedges. You should do a post on low/medium height wedges to help all your tall readers who love a good wedge but don't want to be 6'4" while wearing them 🙂
Haylen says
We listen to Kids Bop radio on Pandora! & as for Easter traditions, have you ever heard of Resurrection Eggs? It's a 12 day Easter countdown that tells the Easter story each day. We also make Resurrection Rolls for breakfast a few days during the season (look them up on Pinterest) – fun ways to remember the reason for this season!
Lisa Miller says
Easter tradition we just started this year is the Easter Eggster. It is a lot like Elf on the Shelf BUT they can touch the animal. In fact, it is encouraged because that is how they get their love and report back to the Easter Bunny. We saw it at a convention this past weekend and my daughters are obsessed with it so far.
Laura says
Kidz Bop…I strangely feel better that somewhere in the universe another mama is listening to that CD too. Sigh is right.
Lexie Loo, Lily, Liam, and Dylan Too! says
I will keep Ashby in my thoughts and prayers! XOXO
The crockpot tacos look delicious. I can see why they're a hit!
Christine Doran says
Easter was my favorite holiday growing up! We would leave our Easter baskets out on the table the night before with some carrots. The next morning they would be gone and there would be an egg with our name on it. In the egg was a picture drawn of somewhere in the house, we would go to where we thought it was and search for another egg in that location, that egg had a picture of the next eggs location, etc. the final egg led us to our Easter basket… Such a fun scavenger hunt that we looked forward to each year!
Mandii M says
The OJ series…I'm OBSESSED! Keeping Ashby in my prayers, I had open heart surgery when I was 3, and I only remember the good parts like the playroom and fun stroller rides. I'm praying Ashby does the same.
