Happy Friday friends!
I saw this on Pinterest this week and laughed out loud…
Just too funny!
Okay, listen, I don’t mean to sound overly dramatic here…but I found the best dry shampoo ever.
Like in the whole world.
Like, I’m about to make your entire day.
See #1…
So, you ladies know that I have no shame when it comes to sharing great products with you. See Exhibit A:
No. Pride. It’s a brilliant face mask and you all needed to see that it was silver :). (Also, I don’t think I pointed out my cute little studs when I showed this mask the first time, but I love them!)
Okay, so I was reading one of my magazines the other day (I’m pretty sure it was Marie Claire) and they named this dry shampoo the best because they said it was the only one that actually cleaned your hair and didn’t just mask the grossness. What? It cleans? Yes. It cleans. So, I ordered me a bottle and friends, I LOVE IT! Here’s Exhibit B (a.k.a. up close and personal with my roots)…
Read the can. Living Proof actually cleans your hair. So, I decided to show you guys how it works…
I mean…this pic is a mess but I was trying to get dressed and show you guys my roots, so it is what it is. This is my hair after I woke up…but I’m in need of a little dry shampoo, so…you spray it on your hair and it turns the area white…
…see, the Living Proof on your roots appears white. You let it sit for 30 seconds while it’s doing its cleaning thing and then you shake it out with your fingers and that’s it! Done! And clean! I’ve tried a million dry shampoos but honestly, this one is my fave :).
Did you notice my nails in the above picture? My friend Ashley put this shade on Instagram last week and I loved it! I ordered mine off of Amazon. It’s mostly white with just a hint of pink (where my favorite OPI’s Mod About You is the opposite…mostly pink with a hint of white)…
…this is OPI’s Let’s Be Friends from their Hello Kitty collection. Love.
Yesterday, I shared some pics from Sean and Catherine’s baby shower which included this dress (and that nail color!)…
I also took a pic before the party so you could see the front and back…
Fun, right? For a size reference, I ordered XS.
But let’s be real…what I normally wear is this stuff…
All hail the basic tee!
Yes. This is more like me :). Okay, my favorite tee two years running is Nordstrom’s Caslon brand. They’re soft, they’re just slightly flowy (so not tight!), they’re priced right and they wash and dry well (because I can’t baby my laundry!). This one tee comes in over 20 colors! Love, love, love them for basics!
Speaking of Caslon, I have been wearing this Caslon top non-stop lately…
…I really love it :). It comes in coral too.
Here I am wearing it again to Kensington’s Mother’s Day breakfast. I wear my favorite cami underneath. And my lipstick is that one I told you guys about a few weeks ago! The Lancome one in Fall in Rose.
And one more every day top…because a busy girl just can’t have too many of those…
Annnnnnd…I took the pics before realizing I was still wearing my house shoes. I wear them until the last minute and then put on my real shoes. Sigh. The top is richer (more reddish-pink) in person than online. I bought it in red barbarry but it comes in other colors too.
So even though dresses are fun on occasion, this stuff is what I wear day in and day out…
And speaking of day in and day out…
…are you keeping up with Every Day in May? You can see it here every single day.
Here’s what we’ve done so far…
May 1: No caffeine for the day
May 2: Write down 3 things you’re grateful for that day
May 3: Read instead of watching TV after dinner
May 4: Schedule your annual skin check/OB appointment/dental cleaning (whatever you’ve been putting off!)
May 5: Drink 6 to 8 (8 oz) glasses of water today
May 6: Pay it forward! (Hold open a door, buy someone a drink at Starbucks…whatever you can do to pay it forward)
May 7: Be intentional with the people you’re with today
May 8: Tell a mom that you know that she’s doing a great job
May 9: Go to bed earlier than normal
May 10: Wake up earlier than normal
May 11: No social media after 6:00 PM
May 12: Walk the extra mile everywhere you go…so park further away, take the stairs instead of the elevator…just try to go a little further everywhere you go.
May 13: Write 3 cards to people you know. Whether it’s a thank you card, a get well card, an I’m thinking of you card or a just because card…write three cards and mail them today.
And finally…for dinner tonight…
Oh friends, they’re delicious, they’re flavorful and (gasp!) they’re vegetarian!
Check out the yummy recipe here.
Have the best weekend friends! Love each and every one of you!

Thanks for the link to the basic tee. I am in need of a couple for summer and these are perfect. Do they run tts? Thanks!! Susan
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! They do Susan!!
Melissa says
Love the tops and that dress. I will definitely have to try the dry shampoo, so thanks for the rec. Also, what shoes are you wearing with the dress? I cannot tell if they are wedges or not? Thanks & hope you have a great weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
They're not wedges. I actually bought them about 6 years ago and still wear them all the time! They're old Steve Madden's :).
Melissa says
Thank you!
Narci says
Happy weekend friend!! I love that red top on you!! So pretty!!! Xoxo
Sarah Kuykendall says
You always have great beauty product recommendations, so I am off to try some Living Proof dry shampoo!
Olivia's Mommy says
Mod about you is an all time fav color of mine! The pastel version is awesome too, more white than pink. But Let's be Friends is one of my new go to fav's as well!
Nichole Mancone says
Definitely going to try the dry shampoo!
A question – and anyone feel free to answer. I'm looking for a nice white tee. One I can wear with cute summer skirts to work but also works with jeans. I have a pretty white v-neck from j.crew but it is so thin that it's practically transparent. I'm looking for one that is a little more opaque.
Paige says
Such great tops and I've heard that dry shampoo is the best.
Katie Schellinger says
I love the Calson brand. I'm 5'2 and their maxi dresses in petite are PERFECT! Thanks for the tips on the dry shampoo…I've yet to find one that doesn't leave me feeling grimy.
Erika Slaughter says
You are so passionate about that dry shampoo. I can't wait for mine to arrive. Thank you for sharing!!
Meredith Shanks says
My mother got me that dry shampoo, and I couldn't be more thankful! Confession time: I had used it so much, I one night I realized I hadn't washed my hair in a week! They probably shouldn't put that in an ad but that's how well it works!
Aubrey says
I bought that dry shampoo at my last trip to the salon. So good!
Meagan @ The Clanahan Fam says
I can vouch for that dry shampoo for sure! My hairstylist introduced me about 2 months ago – it's the best!!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
Okay. Several things: 1) Confession time. So I've never used dry shampoo. Never. Never Ever. What's wrong with me. 2) I love that pink dress on you! 3) I too love a Caslon tee because of the fit.
Leslie Vasquez says
What are the shorts you are wearing with the tee? I'm searching for some that aren't too short for a 35 year old mom without being too "mom" ?
Lara D says
I'll let Shay confirm but I believe those are her favorite J Crew shorts.
kimm atwood says
I have that same nail color and just love it. If you have never tried funny bunny give it a try. It's a great neutral!!!
Rebecca Jo says
I always hear about that dry shampoo – I gotta find it or order online.
House shoes for the win every time, every day 🙂
Dana D'Orsi says
So excited to try that dry shampoo! I've been using Batiste since you recommended it awhile back and like that so if you think this is better, that's saying a lot!
Quick question…I absolutely LOVE the top your mom is wearing in the shower pic. Do you know where it's from? Thanks in advance! 🙂
Lauren Scheid says
Do you like the ivory, beige, or white cami best?? 🙂
Also, I love Living Proof! I also use their new no frizz nourishing oil! Great for the days you need dry shampoo but still need some shine!
Megan says
Those burgers look delicious. Now I'm off to check out the dry shampoo!!!
Wendy Correa says
Shay,
I have a random travel question that you've probably answered before…. What brand of stroller do you have when traveling with your kiddos?? Thanks!
Kim says
Love your blog and recipes. You are an inspiration to me..
Sara Robinson says
Living Proof PHD dry shampoo is the best – I'm shocked but just went a record 4 days without washing because of that amazing product! You must try their Timeless line – the best!
Amy Simmons says
I read some reviews on your basic tee and many people commented on the quality of the shirt, many referring to holes appearing in the bottom of the shirt. I don't guess you've had any issues with the quality?
Hawaiigirl says
I was wondering the same thing. I purchased four of those tees last year and all but one got those holes in the bottom of the shirt.
Amanda-Cupcake N Dreams says
Ah I have to try the Living Proof Dry Shampoo! I'm loving Every Day in May too, I think getting cards in the mail are so fun 🙂 I know a few people who would agree.

MorganP says
Yes! That dry shampoo is amazing. It's the only one I will use (and my hair gets greasy FAST!)
Mary Leigh says
I love those basic tees – but I really need to try that dry shampoo. (Although if I'm honest, I think my hair might be getting used to not being cleaned as regularly these days!) Hope y'all have a fun weekend!
Micaela Violette says
I love Living Proof Dry Shampoo, it really is the best!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I love that Lilly dress!! I tried it on last week actually! And love your sleeveless tops! I need to add some to my wardrobe this summer
Sarah at MeetTheShaneyfelts
Kristina @ Ms.Modify says
I love dry shampoo! I've also tried so many and hate the ones that make your hair feel dirtier! I love Kenra brand, but I will give this a try since it cleans your hair! Thanks for sharing! Have a great weekend! 🙂 xo, Kristina
Melanie Smith says
You look gorgeous, as always, in that pink dress!Of course, if could be a trashbag, and you'd pull it off!
Love the "everyday in May" series. I'm going to write 3 cards today to send to friends. Wonderful idea! 🙂
AndreaBreece says
Couldn't help but notice all your fun and cute rain boots in one of the pictures!!!! It's been raining here off and on for 2 weeks. Totally jealous right now!!! 🙂
Lara D says
Shay – What would you say is the main difference between the Living Proof dry shampoo and the Triple Sec that was your old fave? I was just about to order the triple sec so I'm glad I saw your post today!
Mix and Match Mama says
Triple Sec is great! It smells divine, it gives lift and volume and it doesn't produce any sticky film (which a lot of dry shampoos tend to do)…that being said, it is masking the problem and not cleaning it. I really found that this dry shampoo is cleaning up things and not just masking. Both are great!
Lara D says
Great, thanks Shay! I just ordered the Living Proof – can't wait to try it out.
michael says
Guessing you meant shame instead of pride???
Mix and Match Mama says
Haha! Yes! There is zero shame…and zero pride. I humble myself in a million different ways ;).
Kerry Forristall says
Love all the Living Proof products!! Funny story, I worked for the MIT Professor that created the Living Proof line and when they were just starting out, I would let his lab members try the products on my hair before they hit the shelves in stores. So happy to see this line succeed and I feel like I had a (small) part in the development!
Jenny Lindner says
I just started using the Living Proof dry shampoo as well! I'd agree, it's the best! 🙂
A. Nugent says
So glad you finally featured this dry shampoo! I thought about telling you about it, but you seemed to really love your old one. Haha.
I love this dry shampoo, I found the best trick to to spray it in a few different areas of my hair and then rub it in for 30 seconds and then brush it out. I have brown hair so the white does tend to show up (as it does with all dry shampoos). Anyway, I also love this d.s. because it is the ONLY d.s. out there that fights oil and SWEAT! Yessss! I workout so this has been a god send for me!
Just had to throw my love in there too for the Living Proof D.S!!
(p.s. I tried their shampoos and that was a major let down. I really cant stray far from my Davines Oi shampoo or my Bumble and Bumble hairdresser secret shampoo.)
Emily Harrison says
I have been looking for a good dry shampoo and I wanted one that did a little clean as well. I just ordered the Living Proof one. Thanks for the recommendation. Have a great weekend!
Elise @ Her Heart and Home says
You are too cute in that hot pink dress! Love it! xx
Sarah Rollinson says
I'll apologize ahead if this is too random…you talk about the favorite camisole…does that replace your bra as well (do you just wear the camisole and the top over that) or do you wear a bra, then the camisole, then the top? I want to find an everyday camisole that serves a double function and haven't had a lot of luck! Do you have a recommendation? Thanks!!
adrienne chyba says
How does the living proof smell?? I'm a huge sucker for hair products that smell fabulous! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
It doesn't have a strong smell. I'm a sucker for good smells too. Give me a coconut scented product any day!! This doesn't really have a scent.
GypsyAccountant says
living proof dry shampoo is the best. They even have travel size, so you never need to go without!
Mary Hill says
What size did you get in the white and pink shirts above? I usually wear a small or XS at Loft and J Crew wondering what size to get!
Mix and Match Mama says
XS!
mohaps says
I love how you also show us such great clothes and products. Looking forward to trying that dry shampoo. Wanted to ask you, though, if you could share how you do your hair when you put it up. It always looks so cute. Thanks, Shay! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness! That's my lazy do! All you do is pretend like you're pulling pulling your hair through to a ponytail but don't pull it all the way through the last time around!
Liza Karp says
I have the Caslon tee in the black and white stripe and the last time I went to put it on I noticed that it had gotten those little holes on the front right at the waistline. Has this happened to you? I love the tee though so I think I'll exchange it at Nordstrom since I had only worn it like twice.
Mix and Match Mama says
That's happened to be with several different brands of shirts! It happens to my mom and Erika too. My mom once started googling it and there is a lot of info/theories out there about it. One of them is that it's caused from leaning on counters (kitchen/bathroom) like when we're getting ready, cooking, doing dishes. Who knows???
Kylie says
Yes! I think it's a combination of leaning on counters and the shirt being pressed against the zipper on your jeans while doing so or being pressed against the zipper by your seat belt in the car. It seems to be a common problem!
Rachel Zimm says
I love the Living Proof dry shampoo! I wish it were a little cheaper though because it's so easy to go through a bottle.
Thinking I need to try the Caslon tee!
Love your white/pink nails and pink dress! 🙂
Lauren says
Done! I ordered that dry shampoo today…I've tried several and I'm not sold on any of them. Hoping this one becomes my favorite!
Jen @ Love, the Arthurs says
I have been debating about that dry shampoo forever! I need to try it out! And I need some good basic tees too. That's basically my uniform!
Xo, Jen @bellenbrooks
Bianca Catalano says
I love the red barberry top above and just got it in the mail. You can totally see my bra. You can't see yours at all. Do you have a matching Cami or bra to this shirt? I want to keep it bc it's cute but can't figure that out! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I'm wearing a regular bra underneath mine here in the pic and it's not showing. Weird? I can't see mine at all. Is the shirt size correct? Have you tried a black bra underneath? I often find they blend better than even nude.
AndreafromNoVA says
agreed on Living Proof Dry Shampoo! My girlfriend told me about it and it's worth the price tag.
Morgan Godbold says
The Living Proof dry shampoo is my absolute fave! I agree it really does clean!
