Hello Wednesday!
Well, last Wednesday, I went with Kensington’s first grade to the Dallas Zoo for the day…
…it was so much fun spending the day with her and her friends. Erika, Sarah and I drove there together and on the way, we were laughing so hard about this picture…
Y’all! What in the world were we doing at the zoo with all of those babies?!?! Do you see Kensington there in the green shorts? She was 19 months old. And baby Smith was in the stroller behind her and he was 12 weeks old. My favorite part is that Ebby Lee was 12 months and Nixon was 2 weeks old. TWO WEEKS OLD! Why didn’t someone tell us to stay home instead of dragging a bunch of babies to the zoo?!?! Sarah’s daughter Molly is next to Kensington here and she was 12 months too. We were laughing so hard on the way to the zoo about the insanity of us thinking this was a good idea.
Just for grins…
One year olds Kensington and Molly (who are in first grade now together with Ebby Lee) at the zoo checking out the animals. I remember it was so hot on this day too! Speaking of which…
…here is 12 week old Smith looking at his mama going “Why are we here?”. “It’s hot and I don’t even know what animals are?” Bless all of our hearts ;).
So needless to say, it’s different going with our girls now that they’re all seven ;).
At the zoo enjoying the day with my favorite little Sox fan!
Picnic lunch with first grade!
She looks so old here! I wish I had that 19 month old back.
The giraffes are our faves!
She might look older…
…but at the end of the day when we were waiting on the buses, she still wanted to put her head in my lap. Loved spending the day with my sweet girl and her friends.
On my foodie blog today…
…Dijon Oven Potatoes with Grilled Sausages. This one is all about the side!
See you tomorrow!

I seriously don't know what we were thinking but it got me out of the house for a day and that was probably good for my post party soul! Ha!

I'm laughing out loud at the story of taking all the babies to the zoo. It reminded me of when the Whole Foods came to town and my friends and I decided it was a good idea to attend the grand opening. This included 8 kids, two of which were baby twins in a stroller! I think we were so excited to get out of the house we would have done anything!

I didn't think a thing about it when y'all went, but you're right, looking back it's hysterical!!!! Loved seeing those old pics!

The throw back to the babes is priceless. I think all new moms load up their babes and head to the zoo…maybe it's lack of sleep, needing to get out of the house or get a jump start on our kids knowing about animals. There should be a sign saying kids 2 and under not admitted. New moms…can't tell them anything….hahaha.
Also, We LOVE the Fort Worth zoo but have been wanting to try out the Dallas zoo. Can you feed the giraffes? And do you think it's worth the trip?
Thanks

No to hijack but we love the Dallas zoo. You can feed giraffes and the bird show is amazing. The Giants of Savannah is great too. Hope that helps.

Oh good gracious! Y'all were crazy to get out with all those sweet little babies… BUT I love it! Such precious memories are made when you're a brave mama and get out of the house! It's good for a mama's sanity too!

Love the picture of all the babies at the zoo. My girlfriends & I did the same thing when ours were little. Not crazy at all!

This is great. You girls were crazy to take those babies to the zoo. I'm sure at the time you just needed to to get out in the sunshine with the girls. I, on the other hand, didn't get dressed for a good 12 weeks.

Sometimes as a new momma, you just gotta get out of the house! Such sweet throwbacks. And how fun to get to go again with your big kid! I just went a week and a half ago with my 5 year old and it was the best!

Such fun memories! I loved seeing the little ones, especially Smith. He does look like he might be questioning your sanity:).

Speaking of reminiscing that blue/green/white blanket behind baby Smith, well my son was given the same one when he was born & it has been his "blankie" ever since!

My friends and I took our babes to the Fasanarie and Vivarium (mini German zoos) all the time. It was for the mamas and the toddlers, not the babies. We loved it even though it was such hard work!
