Whoa! It’s a supersized edition of my Friday Favorites. I don’t know what happened? I sat down to write out my favorite things from the week and I had a ton of them! Get comfy friends…you’re going to be here a while.
Bam.
I’m coming out of the gate strong, right?!?! Okay, so you guys know that I wear that one pair of leopard booties all.the.time and every time I do, you ask me where they’re from and I always say that they’re super old…well, I found me a new pair. My leopard booties are about six years old and so when I saw these, I knew it was time to update. I.am.in.love.
There are zippers on both sides :).
Okay, I bought the leopard ones but they also come in four other colors. They’re from Boden, so just use the size calculator to figure out the US size. The calculator told me to order the equivalent of an 8 (my US size) and they fit perfectly. Bonus, they arrived super fast (I was shocked by how fast!) and shipping is free over $49 and returns are free too. Easy peasy.
(And pssssst: my nail polish is Essie’s After School Boy Blazer for those of you who love a good nail polish like I do!)
I was wearing shorts when they arrived, so I took a pic of them in my shorts ;). I just wanted you to see how cute they are. I love me a leopard bootie!
Last week, I mentioned how we have been making homemade ice cream while watching the Olympics at night and so many of you had questions. We used to have an old-fashioned ice cream maker and then a few years ago, we got smart and bought a quick little counter maker (because it is just so much easier!). The one we bought is an Oster. I mean…it’s really basic but we love it. As for our recipe, here you go:
1½ cups of whole milk (you have to use whole milk!)
3/4 cup of sugar
about a cup of Cool Whip (or to make it extra rich, substitute half and half)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
crumbled candy/cookies/chocolate chips/butterscotch chips/nuts
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a mixing bowl and then pour into your ice cream maker and set. About 3 minutes before it’s finished (you’ll see when it starts looking thick and ready to go), add in your crushed candy/cookie/whatever pieces and let it blend up a minute or two.
That’s it! This yields about 4-5 bowls of ice cream.
We’ve learned that if you add the candy and stuff in too early it pulses too much and you don’t have any texture.
Okay, last week I had many of you ask me which bracelets I was wearing on Home & Family, so I thought I’d just share my faves with you (because I feel naked without my bracelets on 😉 ).
You’ll notice that I took this pic while still in my pajamas :).
Okay from left to right, these four are my very favorite that I tend to wear daily (not all together, that pic was just for you, but I’ll mix them up and wear them individually or in groups).
1: Gold Bangle
2: Knot Bangle (I have rose gold but it comes in both silver and gold)
4: Crystal Hinge Bangle (also available in four other colors)
Okay, remember these sweatshirts from last fall? Well, they’re back in stock again!
The cute little online boutique that makes them tweeted me this week to let me know that they’re back in stock, so I thought I’d share. I wore mine all the time last fall and winter!
And PS: who doesn’t get excited when they see pictures with the red cup in it?!?! #bringit
Okay, I’ve been on a Runaway Bride kick this week. I’ve listened to it three times through while working (I like to hear stuff while I work…especially my favorite movies). Is it just me or do they not make movies like this anymore??? Where are all of the good old-fashioned romantic comedies?!?! I love this one. It’s an oldie but a goodie and one of my favorites this week.
And since I just showed a picture of my MacBook…one of my favorites from this week was my MacBook post! Holy comments!
I shared my thoughts on my new Mac and asked for tips and suggestions and boy did you deliver! Here are some of my favorite comments:
1: If you want to play DVDs/CDs on your Mac, just buy an external DVD drive and it plugs right in.
2: You can set up your Mac to right click/left click. #brilliant
3. You can buy the Microsoft Office Package for Mac which allows you to use Word, Excel, etc.
4: You can save anything on your Mac as a PDF by clicking command+P and on the bottom left it says “PDF”.
5: Shift key + apple button+4= screen grab
6: Hold down command and then hit space to open the search bar

Okay…how cute is this dress…
I got so excited to try it on that I forgot to put on shoes (oh well!). I think it’s just perfect for transitional weather. And bonus, it’s only $48 (which is a good price for a dress!)! For a size reference, I bought a small.
Look how cute the ruffles are! It’s light and fall-ish looking but totally wearable in warm weather. And look at it with my ring…
That’s a fun little ring, right?!
And pssssst: that’s the polish I told you about last week, Essie’s French Affair.
Now, if this doesn’t scream me then I don’t know what does…
I mean, if I don’t wear this shirt once a week from September 1 through March 31, then I’ll be shocked. It comes in 7 different colors and I’m thinking about getting another one because I love it that much. It’s light (not thick and heavy) and even though it says “tunic” online, I think it’s more of a longer shirt (it tucks easily!).
I think it’s super cute with shorts but will look fantastic with jeans all fall long.
Love, love, love. I might need all seven ;).
And…for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW…look what scarf Nordstrom has brought back…
Me wearing my scarf in 2014…
…and again in 2015. And you better believe I’ll be wearing it in 2016 too! I wear this one a lot because it looks fallish but it’s very light and easy to layer (without being bulky and hot).
Bring it 2017…I’ll wear it then too 🙂 .
Today, I’m sharing my favorite kind of busy mom recipes…slow cooker ones! I have a great bunch of slow cooker recipes for your busy back to school time (because after a long day, isn’t it nice to come home to dinner waiting on YOU?!). See them all HERE.
That’s it for this week’s favorites. As always, I link up with my girlfriends Andrea, Erika and Narci each Friday. Have the best weekend. See you Monday for…a special giveaway!

I have a MacBook and there are so many tricks for them that I just try to stick with the easy stuff because I am not tech savvy at all! I did know about the screen grab because I have had to Google how to do that before! Thank goodness for Google, right? I love your dark nail polish–I can’t wait for fall and winter so I can start wearing my darker polishes. Good luck with your back to school routine next week! I hope your kids have a great year! What color lipstick are you wearing in the dress picture?

It’s all so cute! What size did you get in the plaid shirt?
Justine says
Love it all! I was wondering what the neutral band is on the first pic with booties? Is it an Apple Watch band? I’m looking for something a little more stylish than my silicone one.

You make me want to have a Julia Roberts/Richard Gere movie fest this weekend now.
I gotta have a comfy sweatshirt that points to coffee 🙂
Wondering when the Fall Starbucks cups are coming out. Or if they’ll even do that this year.
Hopefully this year wont have a red-cup controversy… please Lord.

You have this pregnant girl convinced that I need that ice cream maker in my life like yesterday! So of course I got on Amazon and some of the reviews are less than wonderful with some people saying it took anywhere from 30 minutes to 4+ hours for the ice cream to set? Also something about having to keep the freezer itself in a zero degree deep freeze? Do you have any advice on these two issues?
Megan Patterson says
First, I LOVE those boots! ❤️
Second, Runway Bride is one of my favorites too! Third, if you ever need help with your computer let Brett know. He works on computers and knows everything you would need to know about Macs. He could give you some great advice before you buy stuff for it.
Amy Stevenson says
Ok, loving the leather bracelet/watch situation you have going on in the pic where you’re holding the leopard bootie. Can you share the details?? Thanks, and love your blog!
Morgan says
Shay- have you every watched The Great British Baking Show? I feel like it is totally you. First, we have an adorable tent of bakers all competing to win top baker. Two- it is situated in a beautiful, British garden. Three- It’s not “dramatic” like American cooking competitions and is filled with cheeky humor that Brits love! I also hear Kate Middleton is quite a fan of Mary Berry, one of the judges. Check it out on Netflix or your local PBS station. Enjoy!

You are exactly right that they don’t make movies like Runaway Bride anymore! Romantic Comedies from the late 90’s and early 00’s are my faves of all time – Miss Congeniality, The Wedding Planner, What Women Want, Runaway Bride, My Best Friend’s Wedding… what happened to movies like those?!
Toni M says
Can you tell us how the coffee sweatshirt is TTS or if sizing up a size is a better option? Thanks!
Ashley says
Girl – those booties! All the heart eye emojis going on over here right now – Anything with animal print just calls to me! Those are so darn cute!
Sarah says
Love runaway bride! How did you get it on your new Mac? Or is it just a digital copy? I too struggle with he lack of a DVD drive;)
Megan says
I may have convinced Austin that we need to get a new MacBook after your post. I miss ours!!! Ha! And now I really want to go watch Runaway Bride. It’s one of my top favorites!!!
Laura Kaetz says
Shay, how does that dress in a small fit you? Is it loose/flowy or snug? I’m a tad bit bigger than you (usually a 4) so I’m worried a small would be too small and medium too big.
Lizzie says
Wow this was alot, but alot of fun! Those leopard booties are adorbs, I wish I could pull something like that off! That dress is perfection and I NEED that but first coffee sweatshirt!
Shelbee on the Edge says
So much fabulous in this post! Those boots are to die for! I love that they are furry-ish, too! I have been wanting a pair of leopard booties for about 2 years now and just haven’t found “the” pair. I may need to check in on these! And that dress is gorgeous. And I am always a sucker for a great scarf! I am loving that one!
I would love for you to come join my weekly link up On the Edge of the Week! It goes live every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. EST and stays open for the week! Have a wonderful day!

Quick question on the ice cream maker……do you have to freeze this insert beforehand?
Leanne says
I love those sweatshirts! Out of curiosity, did you order a size up? It says on the site that they are “fitted” and I’m just wondering how “fitted” they actually are. Thanks!
Amanda says
Hi! Love your blog! Just wondering what nail polish you’re wearing in the photo of you in the “but first coffee” shirt? Thanks!
