Happy Friday friends!
I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing my favorite things from the week.
We have a fun weekend planned: flag football games, family photos and another Oktoberfest (yippee!). I hope you have a great weekend too!
My September Book Review is most definitely a favorite this month! This month, I read six books that I loved! If you missed my reviews, make sure you click HERE and also make sure you read the comments too! Tuesday, I finished my first book of October and right now, I’m halfway through A Man Called Ove based on your recommendations. Lots of good reading ahead!
I put this picture up on Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate sweet Ashby’s 21 month post-adoption post…and…because I’ve had a gazillion questions lately, I tagged the brands of all of the stuff my girls wear. My girls’ dresses and leggings are almost always from Matilda Jane (my rep is Kat Kempson and she can help you place an order: katkempson@matildajaneclothing.com) all of our hair bows are from One Stop Bow Shop and the head wraps are from Ruby Blue Originals on Etsy.
My favorite scarf is back for the third year in a row…and I still can’t stop wearing it! It’s fall-ish but so light that it won’t make you too warm in early autumn. Scarf plus jeans plus booties and I’m ready for my day! Any scarf that I can wear three years in a row and still love so very much HAS to be a favorite of mine! (And psssssst: my friend Jeni had on the booties in black on Tuesday and I thought they were super cute in that color too. Mine are the “wood suede” color but honestly, I think all three colors are very pretty!)
And…for all of you Gap people out there. You know how three (maybe four???) years ago, I bought this…
…the red puffer vest. I love, love, love Gap’s puffer vests. The quality is amazing (especially for the price!). I bought it and have worn it over and over and over again (that’s a basic Gap tee underneath). Well this year, they have new colors and I bought this one…
…isn’t it pretty? I love the army green color! And because it’s Gap, it’s almost always on sale (just look for their daily promo code!).
I thought it looked nice with my favorite scarf tucked inside. Now, I just need the temps to drop so that I can actually wear it!
Buffalo check and those leopard booties I love so much. Bam. My two favorite patterns at once ;).
I love my new little side kick :).
Last year, I read the book Flash…this really sweet memoir about a donkey who changes the author’s life. It is such an inspiring read and I loved it so much. Well look what just came out last week! A children’s book about Flash the donkey. You should read Flash for yourself and then pick up this book for your favorite kiddos. It’s such a sweet little tale.
And our final favorite is a great one…
I mean…two perfect flavors, right? I even left the frosting off of half of ours and served them as muffins for my kids’ after school snack. It’s a winning recipe you need this fall! See it HERE.
Happy Friday friends!
If you’re looking for me…you better check Oktoberfest ;).

Hey Shay! Quick question: I’ve seen some of your recipes and found that they have a lot of prepared foods that I can’t necessarily find overseas (i.e., cake mixes). Do you think your new cookbook can be converted to just basic ingredients that can be found anywhere? I would love to get it, but want to make sure I can actually use it. 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
Most of the recipes in Eats are basic ingredients. The vast majority!

I was taking mental notes of the things you were posting…but then there was the picture of Madeley in the background of your closet picture…and I.WAS.DONE. She is so precious.

I always love your scarves! How did you tie your plaid scarf in the picture with your polka dot shirt to make it look so perfect?
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s an infinity scarf so it just wraps around your neck twice! So easy!!
Dana says
Fantastic! I’m ordering it now – thank you!
