Hey, hey Wednesday!
Do you feel it?
Fall is in the air 🙂 .
As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Let’s get to it, friends!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Last night, we enjoyed this right here…
…it’s really just the Best Slow Cooker Brisket!
If you’re looking for some yummy apple recipes to wrap up your September, try one of these…
…either my Apple Cheddar Sausage Balls or…
…my yummy Apple Butter Bars!
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
We have come a long way in the last 12 months! This was Ashby one year ago recovering from her 22nd surgery that was SO HARD! It took her 11 weeks to finally feel back to normal. Eleven painful, frustrating and hard weeks. Since that surgery, we haven’t had another one which has been great for her mental health (and physical health too!). After having 22 surgeries in five years, she needed this last year off. Right now, we’re taking a different approach to Ashby’s health and it *seems* to be working, so that’s a huge blessing. This is just one tough girl. I love her so dang much and am so happy to be on this side of things.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
As much as I love Lululemon, I’ve also really been enjoying these Amazon dupes…
…how cute is this little jacket?!
It comes in several colors too! I bought it in Meteorite Grey.
Another Amazon dupe are these leggings and sports bra! I just wore the leggings yet again this morning for yoga. I love how they hold their shape the entire day.
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
McKinney welcomed back Oktoberfest this year, and we were PUMPED!
You know how much I love Oktoberfest 🙂 .
My sweet hubby is off on an adventure right now, so I’ve been flying solo with the kids, and the sweet Slaughters invited us to go with them…
I had so many DMs about my shirt. You can find it HERE on Amazon.
We missed our main man, but we had so much fun too.
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Nothing. I’m living my best life because…
Amen.
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Did you catch The Bestie Breakdown this week? It was our first Bestie Book Club review!! At the end of the episode, we announced the book we’ll all be reading next month…
…The Girls in the Stilt House. If you want to read along with us, please do! We’ll be reviewing this book during the episode airing November 2nd.
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
October is a big month at our house this year! We have trips planned, a 7 year old birthday planned, and a 40th birthday party for me planned. Also, hopefully, Andrew comes home in October too (kidding, sort of, he’s been gone a sweet forever…). Agh! I miss him.
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
My September Book Review will be out tomorrow. The books I read this month have made the biggest impression on me out of any other books I’ve read this year, so make sure you come back tomorrow!
Annnnnd…I’m still swooning over…
…if you’re not watching Ted Lasso on Apple TV, you’re missing out on feel-good gold.
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I’m sitting on my bed typing this very sentence and listening to my favorite movie of all time in the background on my TV…
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
I am wearing this right now…
…all of my faves that you’ve seen a million times before. The VERY BEST JOGGERS EVER, this comfy tank, my Golden Goose sneakers (sold out) and this Amazon cardigan that I can’t quit (the color is a-Tea Rose). I’ve done multiple blog posts on these joggers. I have them in three colors and wear them all the time. They wash and dry perfectly and fit TTS. I. Love. Them.
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
All the sports…repeat.
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Friends, that is it! I hope you have a wonderful Hump Day! Make sure you come back tomorrow for one EPIC book review!!
If you blogged WUW today too, make sure you link up below!
Sending you lots of love!

We had so much fun at Oktoberfest and I feel it!! I think fall arrived!!
Mandy says
The joggers are the best! I have 4 pairs and am looking to get two more! I may have a problem….
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m literally wearing them right now. For the third time this week!
Autumn says
How do you swing weeknight get togethers/dinners out with friends? Does Kensington babysit? I feel like there’s no way I could sneak out of the house on a school night, especially with hubby gone!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do get a sitter! I actually think weeknights are the easiest for us mamas because our kids are busy doing all the things, so they don’t really know we’re gone. A great sitter that can drive helps a ton!
Sheaffer Sims says
You’re right! Lasso is FEEL GOOD GOLD!!!!! But have you watched the episode with the sequined pants? I think it was two episodes ago. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT??????
Jacqui says
HAHAHAH I felt the exact same way! But then I googled and found out that there were only supposed to be a certain number of episodes in season 2. Season 1 was such a hit that they decided to ADD 2 episodes to season 2, but since the plot was already set in stone they had to be “stand alone” episodes that didn’t really mean much to the overall story!!! So Coach Beard’s was one and the Christmas one was the other 🙂
Beth Valenta says
So glad you included link to that cute shirt! Heading to the State Fair this weekend!! October here we come with lots of country music concerts here in VA!
Kelly says
I’m excited about your book review tomorrow! I need some good recs for upcoming cozy fall days when I curl up with a book and a mug of coffee. ☺️?☕️
Sugar Bostick says
Thank you so much for blogging each day! While you’re exercising and being productive, I’m using reading your blog! LOL
Is Andrew on another mission trip?
Mix and Match Mama says
He’s off on an adventure…coming home soon though 🙂 !
Cathy says
What 3 colors of joggers do you have? Thanks! ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Black, navy and then the stone red color!
Diane says
So much fall inspiration ?! My only complaint about fall is that a lost snake that was chasing a frog is more likely to end up in our pool. Do you have that issue? Hugs from Waco ???!
Mix and Match Mama says
Agh!!!! We have a lot of frogs but only the occasional snake.
Robin Stansberry says
Love the plaid shirt you wore to Octoberfest. Could you share the link? Please!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s on today’s post!! It’s in the Oktoberfest pics!
Lauren says
Hi! I may have missed something, but I thought you only wore Athleta workout clothes?! So tell what changes your mind:)
Mix and Match Mama says
I almost always wear Athleta (like 95% of the time!), but about a year or two ago, I had so many people ask me to start sharing Lulu items (which I don’t often do because I think their website is pretty terrible to use), so I’ve been trying to find some Amazon and Zella alternatives for those who would like one.
Keely says
Shay, I’m so glad Ashby has been able to take the year off from surgery. I’ll continue to pray for her health and her heart. I can’t even imagine the toll those surgeries have taken on her. She’s just the sweetest.
And…I’ve been influenced—I am ordering the tea rose cardigan! I love it on you! Such a gorgeous color.
Thanks so much for sharing your life with us. ❤️ Have a blessed day.
Debbie Lang says
Have you tried Athleta joggers? I can’t stop wearing the Venice ones, so comfortable and nice enough you can even dress up. I own three different pairs and I am an loyal lululemon girl.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not tried their joggers!! Looking them up now!
Joanne says
I had accidentally read it as you had 7 tips planned in October and I had to do a double take! LOL. I do love these last few months of the year… though I always hope we have little to no snow as I really do not like how cold it gets.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s not seven, but I would go on seven if someone would invite me. 😉
