Thank you all so much for the prayers yesterday. Prayers were answered on both fronts. The Lord moved in BIG ways in the little boy’s life in my family (and oh, how He needed to!) and sweet Ashby is doing fine. Her procedure was delayed yesterday by three hours, so we were there forever. She was supposed to go in at 9:30 but didn’t until 12:30. This made her extra nervous because instead of sitting in pre-op from 7:30 to 9:30…we sat there from 7:30 to almost 1:00. So…it was a very long day, but we’re home and she’s being a trooper (she was HANGRY though, let me tell you!). So, again, thank you so much. xo
Full cart, full heart 🙂 . It was raining so hard while we were in the grocery store the other day, so we stalled and stayed there a little longer than normal and waited for the storm to pass. Our friend Jeni and her baby Hayes were in there too, so we laughed and chatted as we waited.
Ashby had a doctor appointment the other morning and thanks to rain and traffic, it took us 2 hours to get there (and only 20 minutes to get home!). We rewarded ourselves with popcorn while we waited for her turn. Love these two girls!
I love this girl so much too! This sweet girl and completely come out of her shell this year. Once so quiet and shy (the teachers would comment on it all the time!), she has decided to tackle some team sports (tennis and basketball), she’s singing a solo in our church’s Christmas musical and she joined the newspaper club at school. On this day, she had her first big assignment at school…to interview some guest veterans who were there for Veterans Day. She asked me that morning if she looked like a serious reporter. I just love her and the lady she’s becoming.
I put on my new Uggs (that my mom gave me for my birthday!) to take the big kids to school and wanted to share with the group. Sheaffer and I are hosting our annual Five Days of Fabulous the week after Thanksgiving…sooooo you might want to pay attention to the Uggs and get your game face on for the prizes that week. IT. WILL. BE. AMAZING. Please note the little feet because she didn’t want me to go outside without her :).
Aren’t they cute? They come in black too!
Isn’t she cute too?!?!
We were getting Christmas decor down from the attic and these two were doing yoga on our Christmas mats. Monkey see, monkey do!
I always write notes on the Christmas and fall decorations bins. 🙂
There are some big answered prayers there on my garage floor.
During the middle of Christmas decorating, Ashby put herself to sleep. The lights were on, Christmas music was blaring, we were being so loud…and she just decided it was time to take a nap.
Saturday morning vibes.
She was all smiles sitting there until I tried to take a picture…and that big blur in the corner is Ashby…dancing. #becausesheisalwaysdancing
Saturday night on our town square.
We were just as excited about the flavored popcorn as the kids were about the candy at our candy store. We bought bacon cheddar flavored popcorn…me oh my!
My boy and me.
The two early birds got up to see the big moon before school.
I was going through Smith’s backpack and found this…and realized that I have done an excellent job parenting.
My two little busy bees working on their letters to Santa.
Always the little mommy. One baby is named Ashby and the other Bowen :).
All checked in at the hospital and ready for her procedure. She wore her newest Klippel Trenaunay tee for the occasion. This kid is my hero.
That’s life lately.
xo

So fun! Love these posts! Those Uggs! Do you think you would wear your black ones more or those ones? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s so hard to say…I kind of think I’ll wear them equally. If I could only have one pair though…I’d say the black ones 🙂 .

Hi Shay – not sure if you are familiar with NORD (National Org for Rare Disorders). My company works with them on their big annual meeting so I follow them on Facebook. Today they posted about Ashby’s condition. Thought you might want to take a look. https://www.facebook.com/NationalOrganizationforRareDisorders/posts/10154347403438462

Love your adorable family- it makes me so excited to start my own some day! 🙂 I was reading some of your older posts yesterday (because I began following you after Ashby already joined your gang) and I read the post about Ashby’s first Dr visit when she screamed her head off the entire time. We also received news of an answered prayer request yesterday and it’s so awesome I just have to share! Three years ago my uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He was give one to two years to live. He met with his doctor yesterday and has been cured of cancer!! The best part of the news was through this process he found Jesus!! Have a great day!!

Hi Shay!
What a cute family you have! I saw the picture of the two little ones doing yoga and something came to mind!
I am from Brazil and there, when your kid puts the head down on the floor and the butt up like they did we say the kid is asking for a sibling!!!! It is just old wives tale but… ????
Lindsay @ Lindsay's Sweet World says
That Ashby is such a little trooper! I’m so glad to hear that everything went well. I will continue to pray for her. And I love your sweet notes on your Christmas boxes. Those will make you smile every single year when you open them.

soo sweet! love everyone’s smiles!! Way to go Ashby!!!!
Vanessa araujo says
just wanted to say a funny little old wives tales, the Yoga poses the girlies are doing up there are actually signs they are asking for another sibling, My entire husbands side believes this and when ever my children were little and did that my in-laws or anyone would say “oh no so and so wants another baby”. thankfully my 3rd and last never requested 🙂
Tami says
Thankful for good reports for the kiddos! Your little one is a trooper.
The Micheal Jackson paper reminded me of when our youngest was about 5 and he piped up from the back of the van and asked my husband if that was Pink Floyd on the radio. My husband was so proud that we had to get home so he could call his brother to brag abouting his parenting! ????
Take your parenting victories, mama!

Shay…you have such a beautiful family and are so blessed. I so much admire you. I struggle in life (I have 2 diseases…one is called NF, which is short for neurofibromatosis which causes benign tumors to grow (and can sometimes turn malignant). I have had 4 surgeries to remove tumors, but still have more since they can continue to grow throughout my life.) The other, which some people might say is “my fault” but that is just b/c they don’t fully understand it, is that I have struggled with an eating disorder (anorexia mainly but bulimia as well) for over a decade. What people don’t get is anorexia comes through on the outside through your body but it really is a mental illness, depression, suicidal, clinical OCD, anxiety etc.) Your blog and your posts of your family – children, friends, brother, sis-in-law, nephew etc. has brought light and hope to my life. It has motivated me b/c I want that so badly, and I know if I continue down the path of self destruction, I can’t have it. Thank you for bringing light, hope and motivation to my life.
Lot of Love!

SOOOO glad prayers were answered! Tell K that she looks like a reporter for sure! 😉
I never noticed how much Smith resembles you until your faces are side by side. Same eyes! And smile.
