One Wednesday a month, Erika and I host a link up where we share 3 random things we would take with us on a deserted island. They’re silly, funny, totally lighthearted things that we would hope to have with us should we ever be you know…stranded.
So far, we’ve had these topics…
What 3 medicine cabinet items would you take?
What 3 Netflix series would you take?
What three famous people would you take?
What Halloween candy would you take?
And today…what three types of outerwear would you take?
What if this island is cold? That would be a disaster! Ha! Nevertheless, stranded or not…these three pieces of outerwear are always my favorite. I pulled these pictures right off my blog because none of these pieces of outerwear are new, they are just my tried and true absolute faves.
This North Face jacket wins the best coat ever award. It’s so light and yet so warm all at one time. I have worn this coat approximately 1 billion times and love it every single time. How are they so warm and yet so light at the same time?!?! If I could only take one jacket with me, this would be it. Here is a similar one (since mine is old). And those are the Uggs I bought last year. I’ve already worn them twice THIS WEEK. My favorite part is that they’re water resistant.
So, I have a collection of leather jackets…some dating back 16 years! I love a leather jacket. Real or faux, I’m a fan. The leather jacket and me get along really well and even though it’s not as practical as say The North Face, it sure is cute :). (And this pic is from last December…and it gives me all the happy feels. #ihearttheredcup #andredpolish #andchristmasscarf) Speaking of scarves, have you seen these from Old Navy??? I was ordering Smith some tees online and about lost my marbles over these scarves! You’re going to flip too :).
Can’t live without my military style jacket. It’s light, it’s basically a neutral, it layers well and it works for every season.
Honorable mention goes to…
…my Gap puffer. I heart you Gap puffer. And…
…my denim jacket.
Those are my favorite pieces of outerwear! If you blogged, please link up below. I can’t wait to go through and see what your favorite pieces are too!!
Next time on Stranded…
…Christmas movies!!
Woohoo!! I LOVE CHRISTMAS MOVIES! I have never watched the Hallmark Christmas movies (shame on me!), but I decided to do it this year. I really cannot get enough of this stuff :)>.
Link up below friends and have a great Wednesday!

Very good choices! I went rogue and included a pair of shoes in my post. After all, you do wear them over socks, right?
Also, loving your leggings in the North Face picture! I remember you posting them a long while ago, but don’t remember where they’re from! Ah!

Hi Shay!
Love your blog! I live in Boston, and everyone here seems to wear the Patagonia down sweater. Comes in a hooded and non-hooded version (I went with the hood). Super warm (for the Boston cold) but really thin and soft! Amazing.

Also, if you love Lulu (have you tried their Wunder Under Leggings? Workout heaven!)…this jacket is so great for running outside in the cold!

That is funny you mentioned Hallmark movies. I have really jumped on the boat this last few weeks. I dvr all the holiday movies on the weekend and watch throughout the week. I watched one yesterday called One Starry Night. I thought the whole time the lead actress looked a lot like you. Y’all have the same hair.
Danielle Schrader says
What sizes are your jackets and the gap puffer?
Mix and Match Mama says
The North Face is small and the puffer is xs.
Jeanie says
I love leather jackets, too, and have quite a collection. I got the BEST. DEAL. EVER a couple weeks ago: A lamb leather jacket originally $595 for $39.99! I’m giving it to my daughter for Christmas. I also have a jacket very similar to your North Face jacket, but mine doesn’t have a hood. I agree that it’s super light and toasty warm. It’s a winner!
Jenny says
hi Shay!!!! Please Please Please do a skincare product/routine post soon just like your beauty product one you did a couple weeks ago!! I know a lot of ladies would love it!!! Thank you!!!
Amy says
Hi Shay! I know you said your red plaid scarf is from last year–but where did you find it? It’s so pretty! Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
It was from three years ago at Nordstrom. I wish they still had it because it’s always one of my favorites!

Ive lost a ton of weight this past year since having my son & am the lowest I’ve been in over 10 years. Which is great but now all my outerwear is way to big. I went from twenty coats to three that fit!!!! Needless to say i need to get out shopping! All of these are great picks! I think ill have a look online at the Northface. Is it true to size. I like to beable to wear sweaters under my jackets.
