Happy Friday from Boston!
That’s right, today, I’m waking up in my very favorite city with one of my favorite girls.
Yesterday afternoon, Ashby and I flew to Boston for a doctor’s appointment this morning at a pediatric vascular anomalies clinic. We have been trying to get into this clinic since July…so, needless to say, we are PUMPED to finally be here today. We will be meeting with five different specialists this morning and hear their opinions on Ashby’s health, how we’ve handled things thus far and what they think we should do moving forward. After that, we will fly home this afternoon, watch our sweet girl play some t-ball tomorrow and then on Sunday, Kensington, Smith and I head to L.A. to tape a segment for Hallmark’s Home & Family show that will air on Tuesday morning. Whew! East Coast, West Coast…I’m hitting them all this weekend 🙂 .
Set your DVRs for Tuesday morning to see my big kids and me cook up a little something from my newest book, Kids in the Kitchen.
So…clearly not a boring weekend around the Shull house.
Also, I’m being featured today over on Kelly’s Korner as her Friday Fellowship guest. Kelly’s blog was the very first blog I read (eight years ago!) and still read every single morning. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to get to know her personally and meet her several times…
A Shay and Kelly selfie from Dot Mom two years ago :).
So, hop on over there and check out her blog too!
Just like every Friday, I’m linking up with three of my favorite friends, Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing some of my favorite things from the week today. Happy Friday to YOU!
I’m starting things off with this girl again because I LOVE HER…
Hello Blogilates, you’re my favorite.
Back in January, I asked you ladies to recommend great workouts on YouTube and several of you mentioned this gal, and now, she’s the one I go to the most. I love her for many reasons:
1: Her workouts are good!
2: The music she plays during the workouts are great.
3: She has a wide variety of types of exercises to chose from.
4: She has a wide variety of length of episodes. Sometimes, I have 30 minutes and sometimes, only 10…she has episodes of everything!
This one above is from her Best Ab Exercises. Perfect for summer :).
And then look below…
She has an app!! I had several readers tell me about her app, so I put it on my phone and there are daily episodes for you to do. I love this!
Here are some other YouTube workouts I’ve done recently…

My friend Brooke brought her daughter Libby to one of our boys’ baseball games the other day and I about flipped over Libby’s shoes…
What the what? When did Crocs get so cute??? I asked Brooke to take pics of Libby’s sweet feet…
…because I ordered Ashby and Madeley both a pair but they haven’t arrived yet. Love. These.
Speaking of things I love, I was at Target two weeks ago and saw the new spring line for Essie and immediately felt drawn to these two shades…
…spring in a bottle :). I love them both because one is more coral and the other pink…both so pretty!
Whoa! We’ve talked a lot about vacations this week and it has totally been a favorite of mine (because I LOVE to travel!). There was this…
…mine and Erika’s Vacations Unpacked series kicked off this week. I talked about how we prep/pack/prepare for City Trips and Erika talked about how they do it for Ski Trips.
Speaking of city trips…
…I also wrapped up my recap of our spring break trip to Washington D.C. If you missed it, you can catch them here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
And last Friday, I showed you my favorite spring outfit…
Navy Converse/White Jeans/Striped Tee/Necklace/Denim Jacket
Well, this week, I switched up the pieces just a bit…
…I wore this little Loft dress with my sandals, the necklace and the jacket.
See, I told you those pieces were all staples for my spring wardrobe :).
And rounding things out today…
Because…it’s spring and you should make something lemony.
That’s it for this Friday. See you next week on Home & Family!
xo

Also, jealous you’re in Boston. One of my favorite cities for sure. Hope your meetings with the specialists go well!

Good luck @ Children’s……I will literally be next door today! Blessed to have great hospitals in Boston!

i think i had read about your fear of mayo before but was reminded of it today when i hopped over to kelly’s korner. do you have mayo in your fridge? maybe it should have it’s own little mini fridge deep in the depths of your basement. do you have a basement? i’ve never heard you talk about a basement. i cannot use mayo to prepare anything that i am eating because i think it’s gross. however, i can eat it if someone else prepares it {mostly sandwiches at a sandwich shop}.
i am always so interested in the info you share about blogilates. and now an app?!?!? i just don’t think i’m a workout at home kind of girl. do you just plop down your mat and randomly do it? where are the kids? i should just really try it. on a random workout side note: we did a lot of TRX and weights yesterday at my workout studio and my hands hurt this morning.
prayers for you and ashby today. i hope it is a beautiful day in boston as you seek more insight into her health.
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t keep it around the house. If I must have it, I typically use it and then toss it (because it will expire before I use it again). Ew! And I do blogilates (or other workouts) in the morning before the kids wake up. Happy Friday!
Susan Jeffries says
My daughter does Blogilates almost every day and loves it! Great work outs! I love your dress and I am hopping over to the Loft site today to check it out. Prayers for good news for your girl today!
Carly M says
I love those nail colors. How do you keep your nail polishes from not getting that separated oil/paint thing? Enjoy the weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
They do sometimes! I just shake them really hard before I apply them!
jamie says
and {ps} i go to target 1-3 times a week. do you mean you haven’t been there for two weeks? i just cannot even imagine????! what is your favorite go-to target-like store?
Susan Jeffries says
One question about the dress. How tall are you and did you order a petite or regular? There are some conflicting reviews on the site. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am 5’3″ and I ordered a regular sized x-small (not petite!).
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I love the Home and Family show and next week is my spring break, so I will be watching it live! Love that Smith and Kensington get to be on it with you, too!

I’m so happy to hear you were able to get an appointment at Children’s! I always wondered if you considered doing that as I’ve been following along your journey with Ashby. I may be biase because I live here, but Boston has some really great hospitals especially Children’s. I am praying they can help sweet Ashby! So excited to see you featured on Kelly’s Korner. I feel like she was the first blog many of us read a long time ago! Off to read!! Safe travels to you and your family!

First time I’ve noticed the clear top unit in your closet and I am drooling!

Prayers for you both in Boston today! After reading your guest blog and remembering your fear of mayonnaise.. I also hate mayo and was wondering if you substitute anything for it in your Lobster Rolls? Or is the mayo taste not very strong?
Mix and Match Mama says
Sometimes, you just have to use mayo, so I do it…but not often. For me, an authentic lobster roll and chicken salad just has to have it. I know…I’m weird. I totally get that!
Karah Stracener says
Praying for sweet Ashby today. I love the first nail color, perfect for spring and Easter. Those croc shoes are the cutest and I need to go order for my girls. Lastly, your loft dress is already sold out. (Insert sad face here)
Karen says
We love Crocs here…..it’s basically the only shoes my 8 year old wears besides sneakers and boots. I have people stop me all the time and they are shocked they are crocs….lol. Praying you get answers today.
Jenny says
Praying for Ashby! And thank you for telling us about Blogilates. It made it on my Friday favorites as well. Love it!!!

Praying all goes well at Ashby’s appointment. What a fun trip you have planned for LA. I bet your kiddos are so excited. Those little shoes are adorable. Happy Friday!

Thinking of you guys so much — hoping all went well in Boston.
I commented on your FB page about my daughter who was treated at BCH (she too had a scary vascular condition) and we were so fortunate with the care, procedures and results.
And Kelly was one of the first blogs I read, too! So fun!
Wishing you happy and safe travels from the east, to the south to the west!

Prayers for Ashby. Boston is my hometown and Children’s Hospital is so great! I went there as a child and now my niece’s Allergist practices there. Cutting edge medicine! I am sure she will get great care there. Safe travels!
Barbara parnell says
Good luck in Boston and have fun in LA. Home & Family used to be my favorite show, but then they fired Cristina Ferrare and so I really don’t watch anymore,(she was the best), BUT, since you will be on, I will make an exception!! Still have some great people working on that show like Ken Wingard, Shirley Bovshow and Dr. JJ…I am sure it will be a great experience for you guys!! Safe travels..I look forward to reading all about everything!
Melody says
THANK YOU!! I seriously have been looking for some cute cherry shoes to go with this dress I got for my little girl. We previously owned some cherry mini Melissa’s and I was thinking of getting those again, but we outgrew them and I couldn’t find them again. I would have never thought of crocs! Your blog is such a wealth of infomation. ?
Diana says
Totally understand the mayo thing! I can’t eat it on a sandwich or cook with it! But I love chicken salad and lots of dips that have it…weird!
Kelly Stamps says
Thank you so much for being on my blog!!!!!! You are my fav blog to read! Praying for you & Ashby today!
Kerri says
Aw, glad you were here in Boston! I know your love our city! So happy that you found a specialist here for Ashby! We love that our city has some of the most amazing hospitals and specialists in the world!!! Sorry it’s a rainy cold March Friday! Love your Blog! Next time you will probably be seeing a Sox Game!
Erin Port says
Love Kelly Stamps and you too – so what fun that you two are together on a blog ;)! Also I am slightly jealous you can dress like spring where you are. It’s dreary, wet and cold here in Iowa. I love those croc sandals, we just outfitted all the kids with natives for the spring. Did you see they have Mary Jane ones now? My girls preferred the mint color so we went with the originals. Have a great weekend and I hope you get wisdom and direction from your appointments today!
Kendra says
What a busy schedule you have Mama! Makes life more fun though! I have to check out your friends blog but had to tell you your my blog I read every morning. Its like my coffee to my soul! I just adore you, your kiddos and the love you have for life. One day I will meet you, I hope! Thank you for this blog I LOVE it!
Kimberley says
I am SO happy my friend Tara was able to work her magic at BCH so that sweet Ashby could see the best of the best in Boston!! Praying that you had a successful visit <3
Dania says
Girl, you’ve been missing out on cute Crocs!! Some years, there are also cute adult crocs (I haven’t checked recently). Around 2008, I got 2 cute pairs of cute Croc sandals. And in the past few years, I’ve bought 2 pairs of Croc wedges that I LOVE. They are cute, no one can believe me when I say they are Crocs, and they are SO comfortable. They are faux leather with cork-like bottoms. Don’t look anything like Crocs. Love them!
Abby says
You are such a good Mom, Shay. Praying for you and Ashly in Boston. I have been debating between the sand and vintage vachetta TB sandals for weeks now. Thank you for making my decision to go with the sand, easier! ☺️
Grace says
Boston is my hometown, love it here…just wish Spring would come already!
Prayers for Ashby! Children’s Hospital is amazing.
Tried to find the fitness app, but had no luck?? Can you post a link possibly? I love her YouTube workouts & an app would be great!
Thanks.

I just typed in “blogialtes” in my app store and it popped right up!

Just wondering if you happened to meet Dr. Denise Adams while at BCH? She is an amazing Dr. that was on a team of doctors who treated my daughter at Duke starting in 1999. We loved her!
Mix and Match Mama says
We did not. We met some great doctors there though!
