I’ve come up for air just long enough to blog What’s Up Wednesday 🙂 .
Once a month, my friends Mel, Sheaffer and I host this link up where we share some random and fun stuff that’s up with us today. If you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up at the bottom of the post! Every month, we answer these questions…
…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts!
I’m home, I spent yesterday getting my life back in order and today, I’m back in business. Hope you’re having a great week. Let’s get started…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
My Meal Planning Monday this week has a theme! Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Turkey Thursday and Pizza Friday.
Five suppers, one sweet treat and a breakfast too. You and your family will love every single bite!
To see the whole meal plan, click HERE.
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Our trip to Washington D.C.! I just love traveling with my family. All of that forced family-time is my fave 😉 .
3: What I’m loving:
Baseball season! We are in the middle of the season which means…lots of games and even more fun. I just LOVE this time of year!
And I’m also still loving these…
…those Crocs! My girl mom heart can’t get enough 🙂 .
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Boston for a doctor’s appointment, check.
L.A. for Home & Family, check.
Spending a ton of time outdoors enjoying spring things, check, check, check!
(On this particular day, we rode our bikes around our little part of town and then stopped at Starbucks for coffee and cake pops!)
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
I don’t think that I’m currently dreading anything at the moment. #amen
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Books, blogging, travel and spring cleaning…
Books: My latest cookbook Kids in the Kitchen is out! This book is perfect to use with your kids. I made it small (to fit in their hands), it lays flat (to make it easy for them to read and cook at the same time) and I made very kid-friendly but mama approved recipes. You can order your copy HERE. (And don’t forget, you can order Eats HERE too!)
Travel: This month, we sent two of our best girlfriends and their families on vacations. Narci took her fam on a Disney Land & Sea Vacation and then Jeni…
…took her family to Walt Disney World for spring break.
If you are planning your 2017 or 2018 vacation, email us because we would love to help! We are currently accepting new client vacations for Walt Disney World, Mexican all-inclusives and cruises sailing in Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska.
Email us at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com.
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Baseball season starts on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MISS baseball season so much, so I am PUMPED that the Red Sox’s opening day is only a few days away. I wake up in the morning and turn baseball news on, listen while I work and then watch the games that night (or sometimes that afternoon). I.CANNOT.WAIT!
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I’m still watching Gossip Girl. Right now, I’m on season five, so I’m just about done. I must say that as of now, Serena (the main character) is actually my least favorite. I love the supporting cast just so much more (Blair, Nate, Chuck and even Rufus!). When I’m done with this series, I’m going to finish The Crown. I started it, loved it, but then stopped because it was too much TV watching at one time.
And my March Book Review will be on Monday, but if you missed this one…
…my February Book Review, you can read it HERE. I read some great books last month, so if you missed it, check it out!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Well, I’m about to start listening to a bunch of baseball!!
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
This jacket on repeat…
Navy Converse/White Jeans/Striped Tee/Necklace/Denim Jacket
And again here…
…and again here…
Loft dress/sandals/necklace /jacket
…because it’s spring and that means the temp swings big time throughout the day. Good thing, my cute little denim jacket goes with everything and is easy to throw on when it’s chilly and take off when it’s warm. #winning
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Someone I love has a birthday this weekend…
…so, we’re going to celebrate!!!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Doing as many things outdoors as we can!
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I started my little garden this year! This is one of my family’s favorite things to do every spring/summer. Last year, was a total bust thanks to some pesky armadillos, but this year, we’ve taken better precaution…
…we’re also growing strawberries in a pot and have already enjoyed eating the fruits of our labor 🙂 .
Bonus question this month: What is your favorite spring thing to wear?
The answer is DRESSES! They’re just so easy to put on during spring. Speaking of dresses, many of you asked about this one…
You can find the dress HERE, the shoes HERE (in four colors!) and the earrings HERE (in four colors!).
Plus, isn’t K’s outfit so cute?! Her jeans are HERE, the top is HERE and the sandals are HERE.
Okay! That’s What’s Up Wednesday today! If you blogged too, make sure you link up below.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Serena is everyone’s least favorite. Sounds like a lot of blessed and busy days! Thanks for sharing.
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
Was able to catch Home & Away yesterday and you guys were great! Kensington and Smith were so sweet and look like they have the cooking thing down 🙂 That denim jacket really does go with everything, great spring piece!

Shay!! That garden looks so good! Way to persevere…the Slaughters had our first ever garden destroyed by rabbits years ago. I’ll never forget Tab and his first tomato-he was gonna pick it but decided it needed just one more day. The next day-RABBITS had eaten it!! We threw in the towel after that year.
Sheaffer Sims says
Y’all were so great on the show! Everybody looked precious, and the kids were awesome!!! But seriously, Carter is all, why can’t WE be on t.v.?
Sarah says
Oooo loving the herb garden!! I did one last year that was a fail, but I’m debating doing another one this year!
Hope you have a fantastic day today!!

Ok, I know this is super random but can you tell me where you buy Andrews clothes? My husband is 6’5 (and an insurance agent:)) and we have such a hard time finding something that fits him in length! Any ideas? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
His work clothes? He gets those custom made (because of his shape and size). His casual clothes come from J Crew and Nordstrom though!
Rebecca Jo says
I absolutely adore your new cookbook. I’m making the mexican/ravioli recipe this week!
Your jean jacket fits you perfect. I always get them too bulky, or long or a weird shade of denim. Hang onto your unicorn of a jacket!
Brittany Hensley says
You’ve now made me want to load up my fam bam & head to D.C.!!!!
Jenna says
You all did great yesterday! I am counting down the days until baseball starts…we are Mariner fans over here!
Mother Henn says
Just an idea (that you’ve probably already thought of), but your family needs your own cooking show!!!! Call it “Kids in the Kitchen” and feature your kids, your nephew, yours & Andrew’s family (include grandparents, great grands, cousins, their kids), and your friends and their kids. Include talk about family traditions and passed down recipes plus those quick weeknight recipes you already do. You guys are a natural and there’s no such show on right now. My family would love to watch!!! You guys did great on yesterday’s show.
Mix and Match Mama says
Ah! You’re so sweet!! Thank you!!
Nicole says
I have a couple random questions. ?
1. Loved your Staying Active post so much, wondering if you were still going to do one on daily eats?
2. Are you still really into tea? Or back to coffee?
3. Love, love, love all things Shay Shull ?… and you did awesome on Home & Family too!! Have a great day!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am going to do one on daily eats!! It’s on my to-do list! I’m still in to tea, I just haven’t been drinking as much of either because the weather is warmer here now. And thank you :).
Alexis deZayas says
You look precious for Home and Family! Loving Kensington’s outfit too!
Barbara Parnell says
Love to garden! We have grown everything from garlic to watermelons…even ginger amd vanilla! The wire around the beds is a must! Helps keep out critters. We dont have armadillos on Long Island, but we do have raccoons and possum…the wire definitely helps, as do marigolds, and garlic. Another tip, lavender repels aphids and ants! Looking forward to updates on your garden!
Kelsey says
You all were so cute on Home & Family!! Serena wasn’t my favorite either, I think mine was Blair. Yay for spring weather!! So glad you all are getting outside & enjoying it.
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
That dress on you is perfection! You look better in it than the girl modeling it on the website! Great job as always and Smith and Kensington were adorable!!

So fun watching your Home and Family segment online!!! All three of you did so great and you looked so good! Adding those crescent roll tacos to the meal plan. Yum!! Your garden looks great! We just bought baseball tickets to see our Twins play in July. Can’t wait!
Melanie says
I really enjoyed watching you and your kids on Home and Family. Y’all did such a good job. Also, I think they should have totally let you be the one guessing the answers during the game (on that last round) . Y’all would have won! LOL, I know it was all in fun, but still……
Kerri says
Shay do you have a Stylist or do you do all your own shopping?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do my own shopping. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad! Eeks!
Kerri says
No it’s great! You do an amazing job!!! I love to as well and picking the kids clothes is fun but as a working mom time is not on my side!
Sandy says
Yay for baseball season! Can I ask where you stay when you are in Boston? My family is heading there in a couple of month to see the City!
Mix and Match Mama says
We love the Beacon Hill area!
Amie says
I can’t remember how many years I have been reading your blog but oh my it seems like Kensington and Smith look so much older all of the sudden. My goodness time goes by fast.
Karen says
GREAT to see you on TV! And even greater when I realized it was more than just that one section – the guessing game, etc. By the way, I thought you were the best hint giver AND the most poised. Well done!

We are planting a garden and have some seeds germinating in cups but this weather makes me think I am going to have huge house plants by the time the weather cooperates to plant them outside, living in the north problems! I can’t wait to break out my new Tory Burch sandals and get a pedicure but so far my feet are still tucked inside my ugg slippers :)! Have a great day and loved seeing you on the Hallmark channel — what fun!!! xoxo ERIN
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
So much fun stuff!!! My little miss has a bday this weekend too…have so much fun celebrating!
Lori says
Love your blog! Will you share what you are doing in your vegetable garden to keep the critters out? Where did you get the metal wiring? Are the yellow flowers there because the critters don’t like that flower? Please share!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes, yes and yes! We put up the fencing so that critters (like armadillos) can’t get in. We also added marigolds (the yellow flowers) to keep away certain pests as well.
Lori says
awesome – good luck! this is our first season to do a vegetable/herb/fruit raised bed 🙂
