It’s What’s Up Wednesday !
Once a month, my friends Mel, Sheaffer and I host this link up where we share some random and fun stuff that’s up with us today. If you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up at the bottom of the post! Every month, we answer these questions…
…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts! Now, don’t forget, during the weeks that the Bachelor/Bachelorette is one, Sheaffer recaps those episodes instead of WUW, so make sure you head over to her blog to read her ALWAYS hilarious recaps!
Tomorrow is the last day of school, so we are PUMPED over here!!!!!! Bring on June 1st!
Okay, here’s what’s up today…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
We are eating summer food!! On Tuesday, I posted my Meal Planning Monday Tuesday HERE. Gosh, I love summer food! I mean don’t get me wrong, by the end of August, I’m ready for cozy fall food, but right now, I can’t get enough of the yummy stuff off the grill. Want to know what else we’re eating a lot of this summer? My Panzanella Salad…
…um, this is like my new favorite thing to make! To see the easy little recipe for my version of this classic salad, click HERE.
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
So much happened last week, that I’m still trying to process it all! I’m still reminiscing about this…
…when the Slaughters brought sweet Britt home. Which makes me think about this…
…when we brought home Ashby and then this…
…when we brought home Madeley.
And then on the heels of that excitement, I went to Boston, so my mind is still thinking about that too. Lots of good stuff to reminisce about!
Clearly, I’m loving these shorts…
…because I keep wearing them! See…
STRIPED TEE//SHORTS//FLIP FLOPS//HAT//EARRINGS
They just seem to go with everything, they fit perfectly and wash and dry to perfection. I love, love, love these shorts for summer. Now, online, they appear lighter than they are in person. Just an FYI! I’m wearing the actual shorts, so they’re not as light as they appear online.
Hello, outside.
We are in the pool every day, we’re biking, we’re walking, we’re eating on the patio…we’re just living outside. You just can’t keep the Shulls inside this time of year.
Nothing right now! #whew
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
You know, I’m in a very happy place with work right now. I’m busy (which I enjoy!), but I’ve also cut back on many things to free up time this summer to be with my family. We have some fun trips planned, lots of days at the pool ahead of us and lazy time at home. Other than that, our travel agency is in full swing this time of year because everyone is planning their fall and winter vacations. I have two great ladies who work with me and we’re having a blast sending our clients places. If you are interested in Mix and Match Travel Agency booking your next vacation, we are currently accepting new client trips to Walt Disney World, Mexican all-inclusives and cruises (all trips departing AFTER September 1st). Email us at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com if you have any questions!
And I’m heading to NYC again soon to cook a yummy (and fun!) recipe out of this book…
…with my favorite friends on Today…
You can order your copy HERE. (And don’t forget, you can order Eats HERE too!)
The last day of school is TOMORROW!!!! I am so pumped about this!!!!! We have big plans this summer! We are going on a trip with my whole family…
…we are going somewhere just as a family of six…
…and Andrew and I are taking a trip just the two of us…
BRING. ON. SUMMER.
Yesterday, I posted my May Book Review, and there are five really good books you might want to pick up for your summer travels. You can see all of the books and read my reviews HERE. This is such a great time of year to read!
Now, I just started binge watching this…
…because all of my friends are watching it and I wanted to know what the heck they were talking about. I just finished season one. It’s basically like the Real Housewives but these are young singles living in Charleston, SC. Why do I find shows like this so interesting??? I can’t help it! I’m sucked in!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Right this very second, I’m listening to Rod Stewart sing standards. He made five albums years ago that are just standards and they’re my favorite. I bet I’ve listened to them a thousand times. And that’s a conservative estimate 😉 .
My summer wardrobe is basically this: pajamas, swimsuit, pajamas, repeat.
When I do get dressed, it’s stuff like this…
Top (comes in 3 colors), shorts, sandals. Repeat.
See? Just keep repeating ;). Same shorts, striped top HERE.
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
My two big girls have their end of year recital, so that’s what I’m doing! We have dress rehearsal on Friday and then their recital is on Sunday. Dance, dance, dance!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Um, big family trip. It’s going to be something I know that I’ll remember forever!
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I think I covered it all!
Bonus question this month: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE VACATION SPOT?
Oh gosh, when we decided on this bonus question, I thought it was so hard! I love so many places, that I hate playing favorites. That being said, whenever we drive to my parents’ house, we have to drive right past DFW Airport and Andrew always says, if we were hopping on a plane right now to go somewhere, where would we go? And my answer is always the same: London. No matter the season, no matter the weather, London always sounds like a good idea. So, that’s going to be my answer, London.
Okay! That’s What’s Up Wednesday today! If you blogged too, make sure you link up below.
That wraps up What’s Up Wednesday! One more day until summer at the Shull’s house…BRING IT, BABY!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!!

Looking forward to seeing all the trips you have planned! I just had knee surgery, and binge watched Southern Charm. Totally saved me from going crazy during my recovery.
Dana says
What do you like to do in London? We have talked about going there for forever now, but I’m never sure what we would do. Any suggestions?
Mix and Match Mama says
The food, the art, the history, the buildings, the parks…I just love it all :).
Whitney says
What size do you wear in the Ily tees?
Mix and Match Mama says
Small!
natashajk says
One thing I would recommend is taking a “hop on, hop off” city bus tour. They are a good way to get a feel for the city, get to know some history, and find some fun things to do. Your ticket is good for 24 hours so usually I take the tour once straight through and then start hopping on and off. The last time we went to London, our city bus tour included a boat ride on The Thames which was really fun.
Go to Westminster Abbey and find some of your favourite historical figures. There are over 3,000 monuments/stones to find. If you like more modern art, go to the Tate Museum. If you like more historical art, go to The National Gallery.
If you like theatre you can see Shakespeare at The Globe Theatre (buy a standing room ticket, get there early, stand at the stage, and it’s so fun!) or you can go to a musical. London is such a fun city just to walk around. You can explore so much just by walking. Go to Notting Hill and see the Portobello Road market, but it only runs on specific days so check that ahead of time. It’s also really fun to go to Hyde Park and people watch.
Now, I don’t know if you have kids or not, but I have never been to London with kids so I don’t have lots of great suggestions for that. Anyways, those are some of my favourite things to do in London. I’ve been there three times now and it’s just so much fun and a good mix of everything.
Natasha says
Dana — I thought I was replying to you but it appears I messed up. See my comment (novel) about three comments below yours. Sorry about that.

Hi Shay! I plan on ordering the Tory Burch “Miller” Sandals. Do you recommend going up in sizing? I generally wear a 7 or 7-1/2. I’ve read to go up in sizing when ordering these. Thanks for any info & have a great summer!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Mine are true to size (8). I don’t think they’re small/short at all. I would get true to size.

Hi Shay.. love your post ..I get so many great ideas thank you. Question… When you do your meal planning for the week do you stick to it for that week or say hey let’s go out to eat? Cause I find myself changing through the week .. thanks .. have a great weekend ..?
Mix and Match Mama says
I almost never break from my meal plan. I hate to have food go to waste, so we almost always, always, always, stick with it.
Andrea Roche says
I’d love sometime to hear about how you decided, and went about, starting your own travel agency. Businesses always fascinate me – especially those started by SAHM! Its awesome!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s easy…YOU guys prompted me! I was traveling and then coming home and blogging about my trips and so many people asked me to help them plan their vacations too. So, I joined an agency, took the proper classes and certifications to get an IATA and off I went. It’s been such a blessing mixing my hobby with business!
Julie says
Southern Charm is addicting! If you’ve never been to Charleston, it’ll make you want to visit or visit again if you have like me. I’ve tried watching SC Savannah and its just not that good!
Tori Caldwell says
And you’ll want to ride by Patricia’s every time you go (like me?) and cross your fingers that you run into one of them (also like me)?
Stephanie says
I binge watched Southern Charm, too. It’s a train wreck that you can’t look away from!
Kelly says
Southern charm the ultimate guilty pleasure!!! I love it!
April says
I love your blog so much. London does sound great right now.

Mechelle Dockall says
Can you please tell the stores where you got the shorts and shirts? I try to follow the link but it is blocked by my computer. Both shorts and the Vneck tee and the navy sleeveless tee.
Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
I got the shorts and one tee at Nordstrom and the other two tees online at Ily Couture :).
Kayla B says
I love this all, but I especially love that bonus question. London has a way of sneaking up on you and becoming an intoxicating place to visit! Excited for your full family trip! We did a Disney cruise with 50 people on my Dad’s side of the family in 2015, and it was the trip of a lifetime.
Laura says
Why does your travel agency only accept trips to specific locations for certain dates? I’d love to hear more details on this! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I never want to get so busy with new clients that I have to turn away existing clients. This keeps me from getting flooded with new trips all over the world. Once you’re an existing client, I’ll send you anywhere and I never want to tell you that I’m too busy.
Lindsay @ Lindsay's Sweet World says
Those Rod Steward songbooks are my absolute FAVORITE!!!! The best one is the first one. And fun fact, my most played song in my iTunes library is You Go to My Head… the first song on that album. It just makes me so darn happy! Happy almost summer, Shay!! You guys are going to have a blast!
Michele Bartell says
Where are you able to watch Southern Charm? I love the show but can’t seem to find the previous seasons available to watch!
Mix and Match Mama says
On the Bravo Now app!
Gaby says
I love your blog!! Thanks for sharing so much with us!! Do you mind letting me know where you found your basketball goal for the pool and the size of it? I’m local and in the DFW area too so I’m hoping I can find it. Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
We found it at Leslie’s Pool Supply and I have no idea how big it is but it’s not huge :).
Julie Clark says
We’ve traveled quite a bit ourselves having lived overseas for 19 years, and London is my new favorite!! We’ve been two Thanksgiving weekend in a row, and are planning to go again this year. We just love it too!! ?
Kim Dimmig says
Love your blog! So I am from Boston (best city in the US) and last summer my husband & I went to London for the first time. And guess what? We loved it so much we are heading back next month with our 2 teenagers! First European family vaca! London reminds me a lot of Boston – no wonder since it’s New England 😉 Great cities! Enjoy your summer!
Alexis deZayas says
Love all of your shorts and tee outfits! Can’t wait to hear about your summer trips!
Angela Ellingson says
So much summer fun! That sounds perfect to do a big family trip, an immediate family trip, and a trip just the two of you. Can’t wait to read all about them. And excited to watch you on Today again!
Natalie Clark says
I would have to agree with you on London! My husband and I spent a month in Europe the summer before our first little one was born, and I could not get enough of London. I want to go back so bad because I know there are still so many things and places I want to see!
Question – do y’all get your yard sprayed or anything for mosquitoes? My little girl would live outside if she could, and I am 7 months pregnant, so we have to be careful of the mosquitoes. With how much y’all are outside, I figured you might have a solution.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! We have a company called Mosquito Joe’s come out and spray on a regular basis!
Erica @ Whimsical September says
Do you have any tips for pool safety, especially with Ashby and Madeley who can’t swim yet? We had a situation in Austin last year that has left me pretty weary over going to homes with pools, so I was wondering what you do to keep your eyes on the kids at all times, especially the younger ones, but still enjoy swimming without being paranoid. Thanks Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
I basically don’t take my eyes off of them. I’m super paranoid about that! The kiddos don’t swim unless I’m swimming too. Sometimes, I’ll sit on the side and not actually get in the water, but I’m always present. I am super paranoid about my kids going to other people’s houses for the exact same reason.
Erin Port says
Have a great weekend celebrating your sweet dancers :). London is a fun place to visit I agree! Can’t wait for pool weather here, it will be here in the midwest soon! xoxo ERIN
Tori Caldwell says
Omg I love your blog even more now that you’re talking about southern charm!! I’m from SC and my friend and I ran into Shep last week? (we totally fan girled lol!)
Emily says
London is on my bucket list of places to visit! Also- love Southern Charm! Cameran is the best! She definitely keeps me laughing!
Vanessa says
Hi Shay,
Do you wear a cami under the blue Caslon shirt? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
You don’t have to, but I sometimes do!
Lauren says
I’m Australian and my favourite holiday place close to home is The Whitsunday Islands (Google Whitehaven beach… you’ll see why) and outside of Australia it would be Greece. Sun, sand and beaches for me!
Bethany says
I agree I love London! Right now though I am craving a trip to the beach!
Cheryl says
What nail polish are you wearing in the picture with the striped tee and shorts?
