Hey there Friday!
I’m linking up with three of my favorite friends, Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing some of my favorite things from the week. My list is short and sweet this Friday. I hope you have the BEST weekend!! xo
So, remember on Monday when I showed you pics from my trip to Nashville? Well, like I told you a few weeks ago, any time I have a hair and/or makeup person helping me, I always ask them what their favorite products, tips and tricks are and what their favorite advice is. Well…
…sweet Kelley here immediately said that this…
…Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop was her favorite, and then I proceeded to have a moment because it was just a month ago that another makeup artist told me to use this…
…Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector and I have been OBSESSED with it ever since. So, I bought the Champagne Pop Skin Perfector online right then because I know I’m going to love it as much as I do the Brightening Corrector. (Remember, the last makeup artist told me to put it on under my concealer to really brighten my eyes and face and WOW does it work!) Kelley told me to swipe this new stuff on last at the apples of my cheek, down my nose a bit and a dash on my forehead. Mine arrived yesterday, so I’m going to play with it today. She also told me to buy this for my hair…
…and I did the minute she used it on me! This Beach Club Texture Spray smells like a beach vacation. Seriously, it smells so good! She put it on my dry hair after it was styled to give it a bit of texture (after she sprayed it on me, she kind of messed up my waves). It came yesterday too and I’m thinking it will be extra fantastic on day two hair :).
Did you read this yesterday…
…my April Book Review! I read some REALLY GOOD BOOKS this month, so if you’re looking for a new read, look no further! I was so pleased with all of the books! Plus, I added a few of your suggestions to my Amazon cart as I read the comments…so make sure you read those too!
And then, I was using this on Wednesday before the gym and thought, you know, this is one of my faves but I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it before…
It’s this Cracked Heel Treatment. This stuff is AMAZING! Anytime my heels get dry, I put this cream on followed by socks (typically before I go to the gym) and it completely fixes the problem. Seriously, I’ve tried a gazillion things and this stuff is the best!
So, then later that day, I thought you guys might want to see this stuff too…
…it’s a Sweet Pot from Clinique. So you know how Sara Happ’s Lips Scrub is my favorite? Well, I ran out and decided to try this Clinique version instead the next time and I really like it! The bottom of the container is your lip scrub and then when you untwist the top part, it’s lip gloss. Now, it’s not really glossy…there wasn’t that much color (so little that I could scrub my lips before bed and then apply it and you can’t tell I have on anything). It’s just a nice, moisturizing balm to top off my freshly scrubbed lips. It comes in 5 colors and I bought Sweet Rose :).
And finally in the bathroom product section of this post…my cousin posed a very good question to me about a month ago, and at last, I have an answer for her. She told me that after reading my Favorite Beauty Product Post, she loved the Clinique SPF that I wear every day but she wanted to know what she should use if she’s outside but already has her makeup on (because she doesn’t like putting the creamy Clinique on top of her makeup during the day). So…I thought that was a valid point. Most days when I head to the pool, I never have makeup on, but sometimes, I swim later in the evening after a full day or we go play golf at the end of the day and I need to add SPF but I already have on my makeup and she’s right…it’s kind of ick to put the creamy stuff on top of your makeup, so I looked and looked around until I found this…
…it’s Supergoop’s SPF Setting Powder and you dust it right on top of your makeup (or your bare face) for your SPF coverage. I tried it for the first time after church on Sunday before we went out to the pool (because post-church, I have my makeup on) and thought it did a great job of giving me coverage. Now, the only disclaimer I have is that I wish the brush came pre-loaded with the mineral powder. When you open the package, the brush and then mineral powder are in two separate pieces and you have to load the powder in to the brush (it comes with directions). I don’t get why they didn’t just pre-load it? It was kind of messy loading but nonetheless, I loved it!
This top gives me all the happy feelings. The material is a tad thicker (so not super thin) and I just know I’ll be wearing it on repeat this spring with jeans and this summer with shorts. Gym locker room lighting is horrible…so click HERE to see it plus it comes in another color combo too. I am totally in love with this one!
And this cutie was so excited about her new summer sandals that I thought they should be a favorite too…
I mean…I just love her mismatched toes, crazy striped leggings and 8½ year old feet!
She is pumped for church on Sunday so that she can wear them! I get it…if I could find a pair of wedges I like this season, I’d be pumped too 😉 . #buticantfindany #whathappenedtoallofthewedges You can find her sandals HERE.
And for dinner this weekend, you have to make this…
…my Bacon Jalapeno Popper Chicken Enchiladas!
They have all the flavors of a Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper but in enchilada form. And do not worry about the heat, if you scrape the seeds out of the jalapeno, they are mild enough for kids. The bacon pieces inside gave it an extra kick. We loved these!!
That’s it for this Friday!
Have the BEST weekend!

I have to try that cracked heel treatment. I’m so lazy when it comes to my feet (I never, ever moisturise my heels, lol, oops) and… well, they’re disasters!

Happy Friday!!! Ok, totally trying the Clinique SPF and heading over to read your full review. A friend gave me a sample of Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer and I LOVE IT! But it’s actually discontinued, of course haha. So, I’m trying to find something similar and will definitely be giving the Clinique a try! Thank you!
And happy Friday to you as well!! Enjoy your weekend!!

I’ll definitely have to try that cracked heel stuff-I never had a solution until now! Also, that textured beach spray has me very curious. My hair is so naturally fine and silky that I think it would work well on me. Thanks for the great favorites! Have a great weekend, Shay!

I recently purchased the Dolce Vida Lynnie Wedge from Nordstrom, and they are awesome, wear anytime wedges! Not too tall, but still flattering. But most of all super cute!
Beth says
I can’t wait to try the Supergoop Setting Powder! I’m always looking for an SPF that isn’t thick and creamy but gives full coverage. Can’t wait to try this out!
Erika Slaughter says
Eek!!! I love posts like this with new beauty products! I’m off to shop NOW!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
I will definitely put the Becca under eye concealer in my cart. How cute is Kensington in those wedges?! They look awesome on her! Happy Friday!

I have that Becca highlighter!! I love it! I swipe it above my cheekbones after I put my blush on and then a little dot on the end of my nose. It really makes a difference! Happy Friday!

The name of those enchiladas made me click over to them before I even read this post! I’ll be making those for sure! And you know I love SuperGoop! I need to try the powder, and you need to try their Rosemary Setting Mist. You spray it on over your make-up! It sets your make-up, smells lovely, and is SPF50!

I’m really like these wedges this year!!!

Peter Thomas Roth also has a mineral SPF 45 and the sunscreen is in the tube. I’ve had great luck with it and purchase it at Sephora.
jamie says
after playing with the under eye brightening corrector did you decide it could be used alone without foundation, etc.? i cannot recall if there was a final thought on that. the next time i head to the mall i need to get some of the B&BW cracked heal treatment! also, i think one of your friends mentioned the wedge sandal problem??!?!!! i wonder what’s going on with that shoe dilemma siruation! enjoy your weekend, shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! You can on light makeup days.
jamie says
some people have a photo {like amanda @thatinspiredchick}. i’m gonna feel silly when someone tells me how easy it is…
Mix and Match Mama says
Ahhhhh! I have no idea! I’ll ask Amanda! I know her in real life :).
jamie says
and question: how do i get a photo to show with my name? where do i go to do that?
Mix and Match Mama says
What do you mean, Jamie?
Lynn says
Her profile pic in comments next to her name.
Teresa says
Do you use the skin perfector in place of your blush or bronzer??
Mix and Match Mama says
No! Just later in the day if I’m going to be out in the sun on top of everything.
Jaime says
Try Colorscience Sunforgettable for preloaded SPF brush! Love it!
Kelly G says
Hi Shay….❤️ My OBTB “Bushnell” wedges. Super comfy and great color options at Nordstrom.
Narci Dreffs says
Oh, now I’m getting that powder ASAP!!! You always have the best products! 🙂
Kelly G says
Too early…sorry for typo-brand is OTBT?
Becca says
Shay I always love your monthly book posts and usually find 1-2 books to add to my own list; but I think yesterday I added all of your books to my list!
I’m also excited to try the beauty products you listed here too! Thank you for sharing!
Amy says
Thank you, thank you for the heel cream suggestion. I love Becca-their blush is great!
Keep on the hunt for those wedges!
Jen says
Happy Friday!! I have used Sweat Cosmetics for spf on top of makeup and it works great. It was made by female athletes and is sweat resistant and all natural.. perfect for summer!!??

Susan says
My face is kind of oily and shiny…do you think a highlighter is a good idea? I’ve never used one but have heard rave reviews on this product. Just don’t know if I should try it or not!
Aja says
I have found two pairs of wedges I like this season, but they’re very modern looking. One is Halogen from Nordstrom and sold out in almost all sizes and one is Steve Madden maybe, but they’re very low and don’t really seem like your style. If you follow Cam from Southern Charm on IG, she wore them in her baby announcement.
Kaitlin says
What a cute top! It’s really hard to tell from the pic online- how far down do the buttons go in the front? I have a newborn at home and am desperate to find cute tops that would be easy to breastfeed in this summer. Have a lovely weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
They go down pretty far! I didn’t count, but almost a third of the way I would guess.
Kelly Sites says
For dry and cracked heels you MUST TRY Heel Tastic (Amazon or Bed Bath and Beyond) it smells AMAZING, and works better than anything I’ve ever used in life. So good. And this Friday Favs rocks today because of all the beauty and hair favs. WAY TO GO. And finally, I started My True Loves last night- HOOKED!!!!!!!!!! I was needing a nice, easy, read. She is a great writer. Happy Friday.
Kelly says
A couple of quick questions about the Becca skin protector in champagne pop… is it kinda like a bronzer? Also, is the color ‘champagne pop ‘ pretty universal or would I need to go to the store and try out the different shades?
I LOVE that top you’re wearing!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s not a bronzer…it’s like a highlighter, so it can go on top of bronzer and/or blush. And yes, it’s a very universally flattering shade!!
Abbey says
I’m looking for new skinny jeans and the ones you have on in the locker room pic are so cute! Crossing my fingers, they are a Nordstrom favorite. Would you mind sharing where you got them or your favorite pair?
Mix and Match Mama says
My very favorite jeans (these!) are J Crew Toothpick!
ELizabeth says
Ordering those beauty products now! Can’t wait to try them!

I LOVE Champagne Pop! I know about it from Youtube! Jaclyn Hill collaborated with Becca to make that specific shade! If you search her name on Youtube I highly suggest watching her monthly/yearly favorites! She gives honest reviews and has such a fun personality to watch!
Another Becca product I love that she’s recommended is the Back Light Illuminating Filter for a primer! It gives your skin such a nice dewy natural glow!
Whitney Pegram says
Such good Friday favorites!! I may just have to get me a SPF powder brush! And I love Kensington’s wedges! ?
Susan says
Shay- You NEED to try Clarins Lip Perfectors. You will LOVE them! They are wonderful all year..but in the summer it will be your favorite!
Ada says
You should try Coloscience Mineral Sunscreen Brush – the sunscreen is already in the brush! So easy to apply!
Kristy says
What do you do with all your books? You must have quite the library?! Do you keep them? Donate them? Sell second hand? Just curious!
Mix and Match Mama says
I share with my friends and family!! We all swap!
Melissa P. says
I stopped using products with parabens about a year ago (to include Bath & Body Works) but that heal cream sounds like just what I need! Does it list parabens on the ingredient list?
Maria says
Shay I second the Peter Thomas Roth SPF powder stick! It’s so much easier to use as it’s a pre-loaded tube. It’s much smaller and easier to throw in a bag for a touch up. I use it on vacation often when I I need to blot/touch up.

Thanks for the recommendation on the heel cream! I’m going to check it out!
Dorinda doft says
Ooo I’ve never seen the supergoop setting powder. You should try the supergoop setting spray it also has spf and rosemary so it smells so good and it’s refreshing.
Kelly Nagy says
These are perfect ideas just in time for Mother’s Day! Thanks for all the ideas! Happy Friday 🙂
Jenna Stiegelmeier says
Hi! I just clicked on that adorable shirt link and saw the smallest size was small–is that what you have on? I’m usually an xs, but didn’t know if this one would run smaller? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought xsmall.
Angela says
Shay, try COLORESCIENCE SUNFORGETTABLE LOOSE MINERAL SUNSCREEN SPF 50. I got it from my dermatologist office, but you can find it on Amazon too. I use the Clinique City Block and use the for reapplying. I have loved it for reapplying on my squirmy kids too. I have fair skin and my daughter is even more fair, but the medium shade is perfect for us (does not show up at all). I hear the fair shade shows up chalky. Best of all-it comes preloaded! 🙂
Kristen Pitstick says
My daughter has those shoes too and they are the CUTEST! I wish they had them in my size. I use Colorescience powder sunscreen and it is the BEST!!!
Angela Ellingson says
I always love your recommendations!! And K’s little wedges are so cute! Happy FRIDAY!
Kelly says
So many great favorites today! I am going to check out the cosmetics when I have time but I hopped on Nordstrom to order that top because I know if I waited it would be sold out:).
Katie S. says
Ordering the True Blue Spa like now! Also,
I’m playing around with different recipes for an upcoming shower I’m hosting so last night I made your Lemon Coconut Bars and oh my GOODNESS. Heavenly! Cannot wait to share!!
Susan says
Loved Crazy Rich Asians. If you get the second book – I recommend getting the audio version. The narrator does a great job with all the accents and it really does make the book.
Ranisa says
I’ve heard great things about super goop. I’ve used colorscience in the past. It is a powder sunscreen as well. Comes pre loaded. ?
Diane says
Shay you have to try Baby Foot Deep Exfoliation peels they are incredible and make your feet smooth like a babys foot(hence the name, LOL). the process is a little creepy but painless and the results are amazing- especially now when its the start of sandal season. Definitely give it a try!!
April Griffin says
I was in the audience at Go Wild and you were so much fun to hear speak. I loved that it just felt like I was sitting down talking to a friend. Thank you for coming and spending time with us there. It was an amazing weekend. I had not heard of your blog or books before and now I’m a subscriber and have printed out a few recipes to try. But again, I loved what you shared with us all at GW. You really touched me with your words on infertility and adoption.
Alexis deZayas says
I need to try so many things in this post – the textured spray, heel treatment, lip scrub and SPF setting powder! Love beauty finds!
Jill says
Agree with you on the wedges! But I am still obsessed with my Steve Maddens that you recommended from last year…seriously, I’m not sure anything can top them!
Mix and Match Mama says
Me too!!!
Michelle B. says
I have the champagne pop highlight also! I watch the YouTuber, Jaclyn Hill, who collaborated with Becca to make it so it’s her highlight. I like to do above the cheekbones, tip of the nose, and I like to do my Cupid’s bow also like she does. You can search on YouTube and see a lot of different ways for highlights. I love watching makeup videos!
sandy says
Totally off topic here…. I noticed in one of the pics where you are showcasing your daughters cute shoes that you have tile flooring similar to mine. How do you keep it clean? It’s so porous and hard to keep clean. Any tips appreciated. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
The travertine? Just regular mopping. I’m sure it wouldn’t look as clean in person ;).
Amy says
I literally just opened a package of SuperGoop products I ordered and tried them! They have a rosemary mist setting spray that leaves a matte finish for you to spray over your makeup throughout the day! I just tried it and loved it. I’ll be studying abroad this summer and getting ready for those sunny days! I’m thinking it will be perfect for summer! Happy weekend 🙂
Megan says
Shay – I discovered Becca brand on Sephora’s website – since I tried Ultimate Coverage Concealer, I haven’t wavered. It’s been my favorite for the past 5-6 months. Before that, I was using Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, which is a nice light cover up but the Ultimate covers my undereye discoloration better and with Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation Primer, it stays on all day. My OTHER favorite Sephora purchase is ALGENIST Clarifying Pore Corrector Mask. It’s superb.
This is my favorite foot cream, ever. No socks needed. Pretty sure you’d fall in love with it.

All those beauty products sound great! My list of things to try is just growing and growing! I really am loving the Sole Society Jenny Wedge – it’s super cute on and isn’t heavy on your foot at all.

Lots of goodies in today’s post! Thanks for all of the recommendations! My heels are always dry to I will be looking into that cream for sure!
Rebecca says
Great Friday favorites! Love your shirt:) I was wondering what phone case you have? I was just looking on line for a new one yesterday and then I saw yours in the picture and love it. Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a rose gold caseology :).
Michelle says
You will love the Champagne Pop!! Its my go-to, but lately I’ve been loving the Flower Beauty highlighting palette from Walmart! I like having three choices in one spot. I am going to check into the Supergoop setting powder. I’ve used the spray, but I would prefer a powder for sure!

As a pale redhead, I cannot wait to try a sunscreen over my make up! It will be so much better than a greasy one. I also read your devotion this week from Proverbs 31. It was great and I was so happy to see that you are contributing. I think you have a great testimony and have a lot to share.
Johanna says
Shay, you would really love the Bare Minerals SPF powder with the built-in brush. You just twist it, as it’s pre-loaded. And it gives a nice glow and coverage!
Melissa Lane says
This is my favorite SPF powder… works great on face, in hair parts and on kids with out the messy cream!

Thanks for sharing the cracked heel treatment – I will have to try that. The sunscreen question is a great one! I’m excited you found an answer – I bet you could tap a little bit of that into your part line. I get a sunburn driving around in the car with the sunroof open.
Christine Zulys says
I just went on a wedge hunt…hardly any out there but found a pair made by Toms! They are adorable and so comfortable!
