It’s a Thursday that feels like a Friday (since the kids are off tomorrow). I love that 🙂 . Here are a bunch of random pics from life lately…
This sweet pea has LOVED reading these books by Wendy Dunham. It makes my heart so happy when she finds things that she loves to read.
This was by my coffee.
The beautiful weather means we are OUTSIDE!! Ashby’s troll is pretty cute, right?!
Boys will be boys.
I love my peeps so much!
All the sunny smiles!
She even brought her book outside to read that day. Ha! Like mother, like daughter.
I dare you to find a cuter guacamole helper!
I put this pic on Instagram the other day and told the story about how the day before, Smith, Madeley and I were all on the floor playing when out of the blue, Smith said, “I’m so glad we went back for her.” . Me too, Smith. Me too.
We had a lovely outdoor party at my cousin’s house the other night. The weather was gorgeous and the food was delicious.
Monday vibes.
On our way to volleyball practice, we realized that we were twinning 😉 .
Those big kids of mine…
…have my heart 🙂 .
Happy Thursday!!

I’m so glad y’all went back for her too!!!! What would we do without Madeley Moo? That sounds like a title of a children’s book by the way. You should write one. About adoption for kids. I’m not kidding.
Kelly says
Schaeffer what a great idea!
Or you could even write one from the onlooker perspective!
Paula says
I have already assumed in my head, because I think Shay would be great at it, is working on an adoption book. Children’s would be awesome. ?? I agree.
Ariadna says
I second this idea!! But then you need to make one about Ashby too, does she have a nickname too?
Sheaffer Sims says
Seriously.

Wonderful pics. The strawberry shoes (Toms?) are my fave. And what Smith said! Love that. I’m glad you are able to get outside. We are still waiting on the warm weather here in PA. Wishing you and your family a very happy Easter.

Random question but do your kids shoes get stinky without socks? If so any sprays or other tips for battling stink?

Sometimes! I typically wash them and let them air dry. Or use Febreeze in a pinch!

I don’t know really? She just stays by us (she’s pretty obsessed with being near Kensington!).

Shay! I don’t know if I’ve missed it and Ashby usually writes/uses her (I think right? but now I’m not sure if it’s switched with the camera? HA!) hand but I love to see her using that hand to color with the chalk! Love your pics!!
Mix and Match Mama says

Aww…I’m so happy to hear that Ashby is left handed! I looked at that picture and it hurt my heart to think of her having to learn to write all over again if something were to happen to her arm. I’m still hoping and praying that the doctors are wrong though. 🙂 And I think just about everyone in the colder parts of the world wants to move to Texas this time of year! We’re all searching for sunshine and signs of spring!!
Patty says
Just look at Ashby holding that sidewalk chalk!!! Way to go, amazing girl!
Liz THORSON says
Your girls are each so darling, Shay, and handsome Smith, wow! is he ever all boy! I have 3 older brothers and two sons and taught 2nd grade for 6 years. Smith is just such a fun-loving, sports-minded boy and lately, he makes me laugh with his poses and facial expressions!

It’s killing me to see you all in shorts! Here in Illinois, were still trying to get rid of the 8” of snow we got on Saturday!!

It’s so sweet seeing your children enjoy the Tales of Buttercup Grove! They may also like our free downloadables at talesofbuttercupgrove.com where you’ll find crossword puzzles, coloring pages, activities, and educational worksheets.
Ann says
Cute pictures! Thank you for always posting about adoption. My husband and I discussed it for years, and we finally made the move after a post where you wrote so openly and positively about how it changed your family. ❤️ We are still waiting for kiddo #3 to come home, and I happened to read what Smith said on a particularly frustrating paperwork day. It’s was the encouragement I needed to hear.
Mix and Match Mama says
Bless you, Ann!!
Lauren Reid says
Kensington looks so much like you, she is growing into a beautiful young girl!
